My '07 F-150 Flare Side had a new Line-X in it when purchased in 2009, I love it and wanted to prevent damage to it. I took a "give me" used Chevrolet SB drop in a friend no longer needed after he bought a new truck, I used a "Sawzall" and trimmed the sides off, leaving just the vertical portion of fender well tubs and the front wall attached, it fit my truck's bed perfectly. I use two small straps to tiedowns to keep it in the bed, it's easy to slide out to wash up, and it protects my Line-X floor from engine blocks or heads or steel pieces. My Line-X looks brand new here in 2022, it shows NO signs of abrasion from the plastic drop in floor. I used Iron Armor from HF in my heavy 4x8 utility trailer with steel diamond plate floor, then cut another "give me" long bed pickup bed liner and trimmed it to 4 feet wide, leaving the front wall which I then heated along the top of the trailer's front rail with propane and bent it over the front rail, cooling it with water in steps.
Awsome! This was exactly the video I was looking for. I purchased a drop in bed liner and now I'm thinking of getting the spray bed liner and still use my bed liner. Thanks for sharing!! Keep the great job!!
I rhino liner my bed and then put the drop in bed liner in. Every 2 years pull it out and touch up as needed. It’ll literally last forever. I use the DIY brush on stuff from Home Depot.
I would suggest a rubber bed mat on top of the line x. Leave the sides exposed with the line x and have the rubber mat on the bottom for better functionality.
24 years ago I gave a dude a 6 pack of beer for a bed liner. 30 minutes later that beer is gone. 24 years later to now, I still have the drop in bed liner.
In theory, this sounds awesome, drop in on top of spray on....any idea if the drop can rub through the spray on? Especially since they sand your paint to apply it...thanks!
How are the wheel wells holding up with the drop in on top of the lineX ? I was thinking of doing the same because my drop in has cutouts for a sleeping platform, but don’t want to ruin the lineX
I don't disagree with pal but know one talks about the elephant in the room and that is impact . The sprayin does nothing to protect the medal from impact the liner and the rug do. So both methods together are best. Sorry it cost more but you having both is great.
Actually Linex is VERY impact resistant. Some of the vehicles we had in Afghanistan had Linex sprayed both under the vehicle and on the floor to lessen blast damage
I bought a new 2017 Silverado and the bed is scratched and dented all to hell and truck has 22,000 miles on it. I get complimented how I use my truck. I laugh as people who don't want scratches or dents in their bed.
I don't care about scratches and dents. I care about rust lol. I use my truck a lot more than the average truck owner and it is definitely not a mall crawler.
He didn't do a comparison with a Dualliner the bottom mat has these bumps thar keep air circulating and water from being trap also I seen another video showed linex stain from gasoline and he had spilled water with paint from paint brushes also stained, linex 500$ dualliner 399$ free shipping 30min to drop in and is more impact resistance than spray on and I have neither linex looks nice but I'm going with dualliner 500$ way to much for me
Is the bottom of the drop in soft or hard tho? Only problem with drop ins is they run off the paint and you'll have it start rusting underneath. If you pull it off once a year or so and touch it up with a rattle can you'll probably be ok tho.
Definitely a good option if you have a cap on your bed. I might do an updated video to go through some of these options in more detail and include some of the others we didn't discuss
i have the high end uv coating an all was 600 for my 2014 f150 an then 600 for my dads 2012 f250 you kinda got robbed my friend but then again all deps where you are in the country i guess
Why? Lol I haul a lot and it keeps all the debris out of the crevices and cracks and it helps prevent dents. I want my truck to last as long as possible and this definitely is added protections. It's just too rough on bare paint.

That's not a bad idea. How do the rubber mats do with moisture? I have not had one before so not sure how rubbery they are
Which rubber bed mat will u suggest? I want dualliner but they sell a set.
I haven't used one so I'm not sure which would be the best.
@Bobon Meiknob exactly!
best deal right there. Spray in under drop in. Best of both worlds.
Agreed. I'm going to pull off the drop in soon and do a video on how the bed liner is holding up underneath
or the bed rug that one looks like a good product too

😂 master negotiator over here. But wait, a bedliner can’t get you drunk! Boooo
Did you experience any rust?
@@fredhunter23I guarantee there is rust under there

I THINK IT WILL SCRAP ON THE PLASTIC
Rust and moisture is not a big issue where I live - in the desert. You didn’t mention bed mats. That’s a fourth option.
You are fortunate for sure! And that is an alternative 👍👍 a good option if you have a cap
@@TheSundaeDrive we were 5% humidity today.

I haven't pulled the lining out in awhile but I will do this soon because I am curious as well. I'll make a follow up video when I do.
Thank you for the recommendation. I'll be giving them a call.

Agreed. Definitely happy to have the plastic in there to protect from impacts while the bedlining protects the bed from the rubbing of the liner

Nice! Yeah, I've seen that online. Do they spray it thicker than on truck beds tho? Thank you for your service!
@@TheSundaeDrive It's definitely thicker. A LOT thicker lol
@@williampineo4074 lol i figured. Should get them to do an extra layer in the truck bed 😉
Drop I bed liners can wear down your paint overtime. Hate me or not I use spray on and drop in.
That's what I do too.
Great video and to the point, thanks!
Thanks!
Good video but kill the muzak. It’s as loud as your voice. I’d rather listen to what you have to say!!
Nicely done, Guv'Na!
Thanks!
IF YOU HAVE FACTORY DROP IN LINER I WOULD STAY WITH IT AS IT VERY WELL MOLDED TO THE BED RUBBING WON'T BE AN ISSUE
Very smart idea
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome video
Thanks!
I'm doing this as well...take it a step further and add a rubber mat.
that's another good option!
Great Video!
Thank you! Hope it helps you out!
@@TheSundaeDrive Yes! Helped out a lot. Going there next month to get mines done! I'm from NJ so it's very convenient.
Awesome!
The pop noise is very annoying, nice video other than that.
Noted! Glad you enjoyed the video tho :)
So can you still use the pop outs for GM s tie down system. Have an 08 and getting line x next month. It looks like they painted right over them.
Yes I can get mine back out but I specifically instructed them not to go over top of them. 👍

Well maybe some people want their vehicle to last....I laugh at people who abuse their their truck bed without protection
Agreed. They are not cheap, even uses. Take care of it and it will take care of you
this is the best option, if it is showing a lot of damage use spray bedliner or replace with some steel sheet
Do an update on this video
Planning to soon! Thanks for the reminder on it tho. Forgot about it but definitely a good one to do during lockdown.
Nice Job. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
A rubber bed tray for traction. Dings and scrapes on the box add character.

could turn over the plastic bed liner make a chicken coop lol
😂 true
only if not in use any more we got to be creative lol
What is the purpose of that irritating background noise?
What’s the instrumental playing?

Where you getting them prices only coast me 1200 for two trucks with the best liner linex has lol that's crazy
Matt Lord mine was $850ish after tax with the premium line and extra UV coating. That's towards the high end of Line-X pricing.

not far from you im in philly
Matt Lord oh really? What shop did you go to?
Update?
Still holding up great!
Gritnwooder wtf is that??
Shiiiiiit thats more expensive than I thought!
You can definitely get it done for less than I did. There are less expensive places but the quality of work was excellent. It also varies by region
lucky me I live 10min From NJ line-x
Woo :) they did a great job on my truck. Holding up great over a year later and I use it a lot
Where at? I need one done, I'm in Deptford NJ
Cute
bed still rusts from underneath, the liquid salt on roads now stick to the bottom of your bed so its gonna rust from underneath.
Have to keep spraying it with oil to protect it fully. Pain in the butt for sure
Drop ins are garbage, why not review the dual liner...who gets a drop in fully formed one anymore? No idea they still made those
Bought the truck used, came with it. I would never ever buy one lol
Dumb now everything is slipping and sliding on plastic 🙄
Keeps liquids and dirt from getting in the edges of the bed. Want this truck to last as long as possible
You should tie down your cargo regardless. I do like how the line-x looks tho
You idiot...lmao...
Putting in the bedliner on top is just dumb. WTF?? LOL

After a few years then LINE X. Not before wear.
Ya didn't talk about mats silly reviewer! 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿
