That’s a great idea, I took a metal bucket and did the same thing as what you did. I just used plumbers tape and screwed it to the bottom

Spring Sliders keep Raccoons and Squirrels off and no need to cage or put a bucket on your spreader... doesn't harm any animals either.
Keep em on the Ground!

I have seen that too. Also a good idea. But the slinky fails overtime, a little sooner than the carpet strips
