Thank you so much, this is the best tutorial on building a balloon garland I've seen yet. I'm gonna build one for my son and daughter-in-law's baby shower for the first time. I've been practicing!! Thank you again!
Love the different techniques you created to make a unique balloon arch! I’d love to know how early you can inflate balloons, set up an arch and what you would do if you had to set one up in full sun or in temps above 95 degrees or without a wall to set up against. Thank you so much!
For super hot weather you just want to be sure you aren't overinflating your balloons because the air inside will expand in the heat! We typically inflate our customer pickups for the weekend on Thursdays and have no trouble with them being fresh! Keep them in a temp controlled area that isn't super humid or cool/dank and you should be just fine during that waiting period ;)
Great tutorial. I have watched it multiple times and learn something new every time. Maybe address which balloon manufactures are the best and how long in advance of the event, (depending upon environment), you can make the garland. Thank you so much.
Thank you! It is a long skinny balloon (think balloon animals lol) The 260 refers to the size of this style of balloon (it would be 2" thick if you inflated it) 260 is the perfect size, especially for this!
Can you share a pattern with us when you don't have that many large balloons. I purchased a kit and it only has three 18 inch balloons and the rest for 12 inch, 10 inch and 5 inch. Thank you so much, this is the best tutorial I've seen.
Hi Sharon! Check out this video that is probably closer to what you might have on hand :) ruclips.net/video/515ejyjzyZQ/видео.html& you can also save some of your 10" balloon pairs for the end and tie them into various parts of the garland to make it thicker!
How do you make the balloons fit so tight together, without seeing the spaces between them? Btw this is a much better tutorial than other videos. Thanks!
Thank you! The easiest way to get them tight is to pull the twister (or string) and push the balloons down towards the floor to get them nice and tight BEFORE you wrap. Once you wrap you can't tighten at all! I use my thumb on the cluster I am adding in to push it down into the garland. You'll hear me say that latex can pop and is "fragile" but on the flip side it is also very resilient to being squished down! I can shove garlands into trunks of cars with out worrying about them popping because in the first step where I inflate them, I am always over-inflating and then letting out air to make them round. This helps to give them more flexibility :)
This is the best tutorial I have seen so far and I have watched a ton of tutorials, so thank you so so much. I greatly appreciate you ❤ I learned so much from you and I enjoyed watching your video. Thank you!🙏🏽
This is the best one yet!! Question....I am having trouble finding the right rubber bands for the 5" balloons. LOVE this idea! Which ones do you recommend? Also, do you have a specific company you use for balloons or any website you prefer over the others?
We use this size rubberband! www.officedepot.com/a/products/856225 If you are looking for smaller party sets, and a wide variety of colors/styles, we sell all of our balloons in our Etsy shop here : www.etsy.com/shop/GoGoGlamCo If you need larger bulk orders there are a lot of great bulk sellers online!
Really just because it is easy to lose track of your pattern, especially when you are new to building! I generally do about 4 feet at a time and then connect them because then I don't have to backtrack and figure out where I am in my pattern. It isn't a huge deal if you alter or mess up the pattern but if you have a set amount of balloons you are working with, I think this helps keep organized :)
Thank you! I will just tie the 260 around the base of the cluster of balloons where their tails are (basically where you have tied the sets of balloons together) Does that answer your question?
Hi! This was a 12 foot garland so we used a total of (24) 16" Balloons (36) 11" Balloons and then I add about (60) 5" Balloons which you can check out in this video ruclips.net/video/6sBhki8bTG0/видео.html
Thank you! That was a very helpful video! Do you know how many approximately balloons are needed? And where is the best place to purchase balloons for garlands?
For a 6 Foot garland you would need (12) 16" + (18) 11" and then I generally put about (10) 5" balloons per 2 feet. (I did a 12 foot build here so double that) I'll put that info in the comments section :) For smaller at home builds you can get premium balloon brands from our shop : www.etsy.com/shop/GoGoGlamCo or if you are doing much larger builds there are some great bulk sellers online!
This may be a dumb question, but how do you know it’s a 2ft cluster? I’m having trouble measuring my garlands aka how many feet it is, etc. Thank you for a great tutorial!! ◡̈
It's kind of tricky because it can change based on how you arrange the balloons around but I have gotten used to knowing roughly what 2 ft in balloons looks like lol. I use my arm as a ruler because I know where the 2 foot mark is on my arm so it gives me at least an estimate! I recommend measuring your arm to get comfortable with that space!! :) If you were just using 11" balloons you would need about 10-12 balloons for 2 feet and then I would do 4-6 more for fullness!
If you don't want to buy them in bulk you can grab them here! www.etsy.com/listing/1277022960/ Our garland kits also include them ;) Otherwise if you want to buy bulk packs just look for the size 260.
Any kits (to be able to get multiple colors in 1) that you know of similar quality as the brands you mentioned? I have a kit through Amazon and would like to inflate prior to the event 😰
Hi Claudia! The final length in this video is 12 feet. (The thumbnail image at the beginning shows the 12 ft garland with a "side car" garland added on to make it extra full!) Are you wondering what we charge a client for a fully assembled garland? (want to make sure I answer your question correctly :)
My kit has 5,10,12,18 Would I pair my 18s with the 12s? And make pairs using 10s and 5s to fill? I’m planning my best friends surprise baby shower and I’m going to try to make the garland 😬
Does ribbon or fishing line work as good as the long balloons to tie the sections together? its hard for me to find the long balloons (the white ones you have)
They do! I would prefer using ribbon over fishing line for this particular build because fishing line has a tendency to slip and cut through the balloons - since this build has so many more large balloons, pulling everything closer together gets a little trickier!
Imagine the first step of tying shoelaces together - same exact thing! (I twist the balloons around each other just to keep air escaping but it isn't really part of the tying process) You don't need to knot them - I tie them once and they are good
Hi! We use Tuftex, Sempertex and Qualatex brand balloons so when using those brands, you can definitely inflate and assemble 24-48 hours before hand! It is best to keep them in temp controlled areas and out of dank spots of the house or you could lose some to wilting. That being said, we have garlands and installs that are up for a week and often longer! Our shop has balloon garlands up for weeks before they really starts to look sad lol
We sell all of our balloons at www.GoGoGlamCo.com! Our preferred brands are Sempertex (also known as Betallatex), TufTex and Qualatex. These are all leading industry brands for balloon styling! On Amazon you tend to get a lot of product for cheap but the quality just isn't there. The balloons in this video are : Qualatex Spring Lilac Tuftex Baby Pink Sempertex Pastel Lilac
Hi Monica! We use this guy : premiumconwin.com/product/cool-aire-4/ If you are getting into the balloon decorating business, this is the BEST investment you could make! If you are just doing a few projects at home, a cheap $20 electric pump works fine! We have another video reviewing a few different options for inflating your balloons :) ruclips.net/video/pTkkdVud710/видео.html
Assembling it doesn't take more than 10 minutes - it is inflating the balloons that takes a long time :) That will greatly depend on your machine! I am using 260q twister balloons to string the garland together (think balloon animal balloons)
You can order this set here : www.etsy.com/listing/1470778385 We are currently sold out of that exact purple, but Lavender would be a good substitute! :)
I would say it takes on average 2 hours for most people with an electric pump. We have a quad inflator and so I can inflate the balloons a bit faster - this is the most time consuming part! Assembly itself takes almost no time!
