  • This is a beginner’s tutorial to making a balloon garland with a strip - this video is for the DIYer who doesn’t want to hire a professional balloon artist (or can’t get one because they’re all booked - this is a real problem these days!).
    00:41 Unpacking your balloon garland kit
    02:05 The 2 types of strips
    03:10 If you want to go the EXTRA mile (totally optional)
    03:50 The two ways to build a strip garland
    13:39 How to hang a strip garland
    16:51 The finished strip garland!
    It is SUPER easy to make balloon garlands out of strips, and this creation took me about 20-30 minutes to do.
    This video is FULL of tips for making a balloon garland with a strip, including:
    - How to use single hole strips & double hole strips.
    - How to know when to add in small balloons.
    - What to do when your balloons are tight together and the strip isn’t cooperating.
    - Troubleshooting what to do when balloons are popping out of your strip (and how to keep them from popping out of the strip).
    - How to achieve a bubbly, organic garland.
    - The simple tip to making a DIY garland look professional.
    - What a pear-shaped balloon means.
    - How to insert large balloons (17, 24, 36) into your strip garland.

    It's my daughters 2nd birthday in 5 days so I'm new to the birthday decorating, this helped me so much.
    I got quoted alot to have one made and i couldn't afford it as a single mum. So i bought a kit myself for £3.99. I'm pretty sure I'll nail it after watching this.
    Thankyou Queen 🤍

      Illona I agree with you all the quotes I’ve gotten from people who make these balloon arches want more than $100. And that’s just not in my budget when I spend $300 on food and party supplies . And especially the birthday cake alone it $100. So making these balloon kits myself will be more affordable

    • @leee.8937

      Same here, Illona! It's amazing how some professionals look down on people using kits from Amazon but not everyone can afford experts

    • @5littletoes
      @5littletoes Год назад +2

      Ilona, I did my very first balloon arch from a kit with the arch support poles. The estimated time was 40 minutes, but it took me 2 1/2 hours and I did it the night before the baby shower. I was so pleased with the results, only after watching her video twice. If I can do this, you certainly can. I must say, my thumb and forefinger was a bit sore afterwards from tying the balloons. I had an electric pump, rounded the balloons as she suggested and used the balloon arch poles, bases filled with water and balloon plastic rings, that held four balloons per ring and the ring slipped onto the pole.

    • @BubblyBalloonCo

      Hi Gabby, good question! I would inflate a few balloons as soon as your kit arrives and see how they age over the coming days. If they look pretty unchanged, the night before or even a day or so in advance could be safe, as long as it'll be indoors and out of direct sunlight.

    OMG Rachel, i tried both the single hole strips and the double hole strips and the double hole strip is hands down the best of the two. i am making a balloon garland for the first time for my daughter's baby shower. At first, I was so stressed out, but after watching your video about ten times, i felt confident that I can do this. I also want to add that is would helpful if you would not talk so fast because that is the reason why i had to watch the video so many times to understand what you were saying. Please don't take offense to this, Rachel. I just think it might help. Thank you for putting out this video.

    I had a go at this for my daughters Birthday. Got a kit off Amazon for £10 and have to say it turned out Amazing for my first attempt . I found tying the balloons the most challenging ( nearly cutting off the circulation in my fingers at one point ) but it got easier as I went along : ) Would definitely give it another go. Took me 3 hours to complete though, but was worth it.

    • @BubblyBalloonCo

      Oh that's so awesome Emily! Congrats on doing your first one! Yes, this method (single-tying balloons and using a strip) is so hard on the fingers! Believe it or not, the professional methods I teach in my other videos are actually SO much easier on the fingers : ) I hope you do keep creating more and having fun with it, thanks for sharing! And HBD to your daughter!

    hi, my issue is that whenever I blow up my balloon, there is always a darker spot on the top of the balloon which I can't get rid of especially when I don't blow up my balloon all the way. Since it is in the middle of the balloon, it's very noticeable and I think it will make the garland look bad. Do you have any suggestions or ways to prevent it?

    • @BubblyBalloonCo
      @BubblyBalloonCo  2 года назад +1

      Hi Ashviny! I feel your pain! That unfortunately is present in a lot of lower quality balloons. 😞 I hardly ever see it in Qualatex or Tuftex, and if I do, I try double stuffing either with the same or a darker color to try to minimize its appearance. Check out video 5 of the Balloon Garland Basics Series on double stuffing for more info on how to do it 🙂 hope that helps!

    Thank you for the tutorial! Do you have to worry about tearing of the backdrop material with the safety pins? I watched another one of your tutorials will hanging with safety work with the cluster connecting method using the necks of the balloons? Thanks again!

    • @BubblyBalloonCo
      @BubblyBalloonCo  2 года назад

      Hey Lillie! I haven't had an issue with the backdrop tearing, but if your garland is particularly heavy, you might want to add in more safety pins! You can also attach to the frame itself, or to something permanent (a railing, a nail in the wall, etc.). That method of hanging works with a garland of any technique : )

    Do you have recommends about hanging a balloon garland without hooks? I am hosting a birthday party at a venue space and not sure if they all command hooks or tacks. Thanks! Great video

    • @BubblyBalloonCo
      @BubblyBalloonCo  3 года назад +2

      Thanks Anthony!! Definitely find out what is allowed and get a pic of the space first so you can plan your attachment points. If there is something permanent nearby that you can tie to, that’s always my first choice. A banister, a pole, if it’s a drop ceiling (standard commercial ceiling), you can tie fishing line through the tiles. If there is magnetic metal nearby, the clik clik magnets are amazing! 🧲
      Command hooks are a second choice, but I have had problems with them.
      If they don’t have anything to attach to and don’t allow you to use anything… might have to get the client to rent a backdrop.
      Good luck!! 🍀
      XOXO,
      Rach

    Hi do you recommend assembling it at the event spot or can i take it in my car to the event? Thank you!

    • @BubblyBalloonCo
      @BubblyBalloonCo  2 года назад

      Hi Desiree, that depends on how large it is and if setting up onsite is an option! I always feel “safer” setting up onsite but I have made a majority of my installs for clients ahead of time and then traveled with them, and done the finishing touches onsite once it’s been hung and installed. The only major risk is wind, dirt and possibly dog hair if you’re a dog mom 🙋🏼‍♀️
      XOXO,

    I made a wonderful balloon garland thanks to your video! However, even though the garland was indoors the balloons became cloudy especially noticeable on the clear confetti balloons. How do you combat this problem?

    • @BubblyBalloonCo
      @BubblyBalloonCo  2 года назад

      Hey there, I'm so glad you were able to make something awesome! I will try to give some tips on this in my confetti balloon video, but sadly those balloons aren't always very high quality and can be prone to fogging (especially if blown up by mouth or with warm air). I would make sure they're inflated with cool/room temperature air to try to keep that from happening.

    This is so cool. I'm planning an event for my work/university and I really want a balloon garland, however, I didn't want to allocate too much money from the budget nor did I feel confident doing it the standard way.
