Great song, great band...I'm American but my best friend is a Swede. One of the coolest people I've ever met. We always get a good laugh out of the fact that my last name is Swenson but he's the Swede...lol
Morsan och jag bodde granne med Joey på Dragonvägen i Väsby strax innan de slog igenom. Snacka om jobbig granne, hade fester i stort sett varje natt...
LIKE I SAID IN THE 80's WHEN I SAW THE LEAD SINGER (AND TODAY TOO) JOEY IS ONE OF THE MOST "BEAUTIFUL" MEN I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! LOVE THEIR SONG "CARRIE"- WHAT GOOD MEMORIES !!! THANKS J !!
I remember when this song came out my wife's cousins were glued to the TV watching the video. I liked it. But they were in a trance. And one of them said this will be the greatest band ever by time it's all over. I smiled and didn't say anything.
celinhabr1 i was born in 77, and from ca 1990 to maybe 2005, the 80s was widely regarded to be the worst decade musically. Nostalgia seems to have worked a miracle, though, even on me!
@@dejannightwish nah,the 60s.But music was great from the 40s to the 90s.As fortodays music,I really can't relate to it,even though it comes across as narrow minded.
You said you listened to this song to get hyped up.....that opening was originally written for a local club near Stockholm where the band is from. It was meant to play as the club was opening its doors for the night. The singer wrote it on a borrowed keyboard when he was about 16. Later, the band took the opening back from the club’s use after the bass player suggested they write a song around it. When the song was done, it was over 5 minutes long and was intended to be used to open their live shows. They never intended to release it as a single but when they did, it hit #1 on the charts in 25 different countries! The band is still making new music with the original lineup seen in this video, one of the few bands from the 80s to stick together. Their new stuff is very different. They have done 6 albums since reforming in 2001 after performing this song at New Years Eve 2000. They still end their live shows with this song. I saw them live a couple of years ago and they are awesome live....singer is 54-55 and moves around on stage like he did at 24.
80s music was the best era for rock music you will never hear anything better than this because today’s music in my opinion cannot be 80s rock ‘n’ roll
Woohooo! I was sooo in love with Ian the drummer back in the 80s ...little did i know i was going to end up at the same workplace 25 y later at a radiostation. It was a bummer hearing him saying things like" No I can't work late today, it's my turn to pick up the kids from daycare"...he became so ....normal. But he was always nice!
My sister and I had just switched to public school. We could openly wear makeup, pants, and listen to secular music. I'd never been allowed to express myself and show what I like artistically, musically, fashionably. This song sounded like something to get charged-up about. I was just learning how to play a synthesizer (they didn't exist before). I am a classically-trained pianist. The differences in my life were so freeing. I'm thankful to the times. I will always be an 80's chick with a heavy dose of hippieness. I still love to play classical music, but listening to it doesn't get to me like rock/pop/metal, etc., does.
Great song and great memories attached to it for me. 89/90's Pistons Bad Boys were introduced to this song and then again the mid 2000s Pistons were as well. The Palace would get so fired up, like no other. DEEEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLLLL
I think it's crazy that three of the most famous songs known in the US are actually from the european continent, and all of them are decades old. Europe's Final Countdown, Queen's We are the champions and Queen's We Will Rock you. Basically, a part of these songs are played during *all* major sport events in America, like the Superbowl, but almost noone knows where those songs originate from. It's just amazing.
I remember when I was younger, none of my friends knew this band and I was like "you country music listening losers" LOL This was and still is an awesome song!
I remember this song as a teenager in the 80s! A lot of artists from Sweden started appearing that decade and I had never really knowing of the country. Little on knowing they speak English as a second language. We got a foreign exchange student the same time that song came out. Her name was Johanna from Sweden and she and I became friends and was curious about her country. It's amazing how music can make you think and learn something new.
It's funny you mentioned this being a song you guys would listen to when you were wrestling. This song has a connection to pro wrestling too. WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan used it as his entrance music when he wrestled for a company called Ring of Honor. He was a heel (bad guy) but the fans would sing the song. It was awesome! Also, I've heard it used during NBA basketball games when they're in the final moments of the forth quarter of a game with a close score and about to resume the game after a time out. This song is EPIC!
Contemporary Classical piece by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra..... “The Good, The Bad, The ugly”. A Clint Eastwood “western” movie. Really spectacular performance that you wouldn’t expect.
I think the band Europe was highly influenced by Queen, many things remind me of Queen style. We used to play this song several times a day back then! It was a huge hit! And whenever someone was headbanging violently we all knew they were imitating Europe XDDD Thank you so much, James!!
The singer of the Group, Joey Tempest, wrote this instrumental as a "Intro" to a friend of his for a Club he had, just as a bit of "background-music", and when it was time for the group to record a new album they needed a great opening track, he remembered this instrumental he had written, and after some more Writing he built the song around it, and it became the Groups biggest hit ever! What if he'd just forgot about the song and … The conclusion is that accidents do happen … but, still; Wonder if we'd never gotten this masterpiece??!!
The Pistons played this song when they introduced their starting lineup in the mid 80's. Everytime I hear hear this intro I always say "At guard from McNeese St, Joe Duuuuuuuuumars
By the time you react to all of ELVIS'S great songs and all of the great 80's songs and many great bands and singers back then then you will be an old man! Enjoy the ride! It is awesome!
I lost a lot of friends to drunk driving/drunk drivers. There was no MADD/SADD, etc. I think the 80's brought those groups about. None of us thought we were destructible.
The sports that you were playing were hyping music from the 80's only. The feeling, solidarity, no fear of getting killed bc of drug deals, etc. A wonderful time.
JB if you can! Would you react to Kodi Lee who won America’s Got Talent! “Lost Without You” it is so beautiful, you will get in your feelings. He sang it to him mom 😘
I dont think I have seen a tool song on your list. They are a band since the 90s but just had a new album come out after 13 years. I think you are ready for their journey. I dont even care if you do it for a video. I just want you to listen to the whole album Fear Innoculim (6song) if you do one tool reaction the tool army will never let you rest until you have done all 5 albums. So if you listen off camera for your own eargasm...just find a way to let me know. I KNOW they are gonna touch your soul to the core.
I don't keep suggesting Madness (House of Fun) because I'm mad at you (I'm not, honest). I just want to make sure that you've seen it ☺ And if you'd like to get into the 90s, I suggest "New Generation" by Suede or " Disco 2000" by Pulp.
Isn’t it CRAZY how much great music there is from the 70’s and 80’s?!? I’m so glad I grew up then and was surrounded by so much great stuff.
Me too!😎
Wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Great 80's song! One of the hundreds of awesome 80's songs! The BEST decade of music EVER!
I Love The 80ger 👍🤩👍✨
Another awsome band Called Europe from My Homeland Sweden👌

This band is Swedish. My mom was born and raised in Sweden. Another reason to love this band.
I love how you enjoy the music of my generation... so many memories for us old-timers... glad you like it!

My 80's are split to 'before this song' and 'after this song'.
I love when people discover hair metal bands. It was a great time.
80's Arena Rock! Love The Geico commercial with them in it.
Mike & the Mechanics.... THE LIVING YEARS... a song that will bring you to tears.. a definite must for you 😘❤️
This was on everybody's workout playlist right next to the Rocky song and Karate Kid theme
This is one of those songs that I don't sing, *I YELL WITH THE VOICE OF A THOUSAND ANGELS!!*
I saw a pretty recent video of this at a festival and they were still bringing it!!
...the 80th the best time in the history of humanity...we enjoyed concerts without mobile..

The emotions of your face while you listening, that was awesome , good to see you appreciate great music, not like the shit they play today.

Prisoners in Paradise is definitely one of Europe' s BEST recordings.

It says a lot that people were holding up cigarette lighters then, rather than cellphones.
I broke my wrist on may 1st and I am still off work as I hurt my shoulder when I fell. I know the pain you would have been in.
reminds me of them presenting the yearbooks in high school and summer vacation coming.
