I love to watch the apes climbing the trees. I'm the maniac of pulling strength and using it in life situations.

Hi Didier. Bonobo is the name of one of the Chimpanzees in that group and is not referring to the species. Thank you for watching :)

Anybody who knows an y thing about chimps understands that chimps and bonobos are two totally different beings, with very differing ways of being . However, these chimps are very intruded upon, but, they semi trust the humans filing this,

Thank you for your comment. One of the Chimpanzees in Mahale has been given the name "Bonobo" by the Japanese research team, sorry for the confusion :) When you are there the Chimpanzees are totally indifferent to your presence.

mike johnson There has not been any attacks on Humans in Mahale by Chimpanzees since the research started in 1965. The perceived danger is definitely there but as long as you listen to the guide there is no problem. Sometimes the Chimpanzees will throw rocks, sticks etc in a display of dominance so you have to keep an eye out for that :)
It's important to not run should the Chimpanzees come close or to look them straight in the eye.

      Sorry for the confusion :)
      1) If you get charged by a chimpanzee or they are coming quickly towards you, try to make space but don't run away or make sudden movements. If it's charging at you just stay still, pretend it's not there.
      2) You always try to keep a distance of at least 7-10 meters, due to vegetation and the movement of the animals the guides will sometimes move closer if they deem the situation appropriate.
      3) Don't look a chimpanzee in the eyes and don't point your finger at them. Same goes for gorillas.
      4) Always listen to the guide, they have a lot of experience and can read the situation very well.

l know a thing or two about monkey business they came from the zoos. You can never see one in the wild unless your part of the photo shoot.

Hi LisaDawnn, thank you for watching :)
You are suppose to keep a distance of 10 meters to the Chimpanzee to protect them from diseases such as a common cold or flu (which is why you wear a mask). When you are there however you are as intresting to the Chimpanzees as a piece of rock, they completely ignore you. They do sometimes get closer and there isn't much to do but to stand still. The rules and regulations for Chimpanzee trekking are very strict.
This group has been habituated since 1965.

At 12:53 is Alofu really smiling or is that a "fear grin"? There's another video on YT that shows these guys beating on Pimu, right? I was amazed by that, since I didn't know a group ever got together to attack a bad Alpha male. I thought it was usually single combat. Live and learn :-)

Your not aloud to get this close to the wild like these days, at least it's that way with the Mountain Gorillas in 2019 pre pandemic when I was on a Trek

why was the alpha male killed? was he killed by the other two males from the same group? it would be interesting to know .

Although this is SO much better than caging these animals, I can't help but feel this was a little too intrusive. I know it was said they are used to Humans but being this close up and personal might eventually catch up in a bad way.
I mean, it's one thing filming all these beautiful creatures on our planet from a distance, but to be right up in their crib seems disrespectful for some reason. It's reminiscent of a nosy neighbor filming us while we go about our business. But it was interesting.

why they killed the previous alpha?

    • @Intothewildsafaris
      @Intothewildsafaris  6 лет назад +1

According to the guides, the previous alpha was often times quite grumpy. He lashed out on one of the males which started the whole incident. At that point there was a lot of frustration against the old Alpha and his opponents were more numerous and stronger than his supporters.
