Why do we need forensic specialists? | Working for the ICRC

People go missing during wars, natural disasters and migration. Driven solely by humanitarian motives, forensic experts working for the ICRC try to give the unidentified remains of the dead back their names and help bereaved families close a painful chapter. As forensic specialist Maria Mendez puts it: "When families ask you questions and you are able to provide answers, I feel I am in the right place doing the right thing."
