I actually saw this quite recently. the guys pad rotated like 180 degrees and wasn’t between the piston and the rotor anymore and it absolutely fucked the piston.
Thats better than the ones ive seen. Ive seen 3 that ground all the way to the fins before bringing them in. Then they wonder why a simple brake job that should maybe cost a couple hundred bucks or so, into a thousand bucks real quick.

I have. Piston popped out of caliper. Lost all fluid and no brake pressure.young lady heard noise and just TURNED UP THE RADIO and kept driving.

That'll be near a $2k brake job here in Hawaii. It's about $15-1600 just to replace rotors and brake pads. This will require new caliper pistons.
