  • Peer support is a cornerstone of community-based mental health care. Made possible entirely through the generosity of our supporters, Coast Mental Health offers two Peer Support programs: one for adults who are living with mental illness; one tailored to the unique needs of young adults.
Peer Support Workers use their lived experience with mental illness to empower and support others on the path to recovery. All of Coast’s Peer Support Workers complete ten weeks of leading-edge in-classroom training, and a three-month practicum.
Following program completion, Peer Support Workers meet the needs of their peers in many ways: leading a variety of programs at Coast sites throughout the Lower Mainland; and providing customized one-to-one support to those in need.
