I've been wondering where are the protest songs from the youth of today and I found you and your beautiful rendition of a classic. Thank you from a 77 year old
Nicely done. After hearing it in VN 1965, it was entrenched in my mind, a clueless teen farm boy suddenly in a combat zone. No doubt we are still there today. Thank you for updating it. Sincerely d
loved the voice of Barry McGuire when he performed this way back in the 60's - what a refreshing update you have given it Erin. Thanks indeed...............
I was in grade school when the Cuban crisis was happening and you may not realize how close we were to a nuclear end. Unfortunately, we are even closer now. Like you I hope and pray those in "charge" don't push the button. As for your cover, masterfully done a very great example of music talent!!! Bravo!!!
I love your voice and your words and your emotion. I've listened to Barry sing his words 100s of times. It was my anthem back in the 60s. I lived in LA and wondered if I would have enough time to tell my mom I loved her before the atomic bomb annihilated everything. I didn't believe in Viet Nam, but the army got me anyway. Now, with climate change we're doing it all over again. I even wrote my own song "Eve of climate change is the new eve of destruction." I wish I had your voice and emotion. My song is yours if you ever want it. No strings attached. Thank you for yours. I love it.
Stunning version. I am 57 once again I have been listening to this song since the epidemic. Love the way you adapted from you my darling how into our current situatio
"You truly captured the soul of Barry McGuire. Your lyrics and musical style capture the moment". And how exactly what you even know that? My bet is that you weren't even around in the 1960's. You think the "insurrection" can somehow compare the what was happening in Vietnam or back here in the US during that time period? You are clueless. .
well, I gotta say that was brilliant, Erin. that was an anthem of sorts back in the day, and you've masterfully updated it without destroying the song and what it means. Only thing I'd ask is you post the lyrics as you'v[e written them. the CC for us who don't hear so well didn't always catch up. But this was beautiful, as moving as the original. Thanks you so much. And no, those aren't tears, I might have allergies......
Beautiful, Erin, your voice and edits are perfect. Historically we were on the eve of destruction then too unfortunately but the fact that the governments haven't learned a g-damn thing and garbage racists are back with a vengeance makes this all the more tragic.
When this came out in mid 60s it was quite controversial and there were songs written as rebuttal At the time I thought it was a great addition to the canon of Western Civilization. Now I think it is an interesting period piece and a worthy footnote to a turbulent time. Your rendition and revised lyrics are excellent and thank you for sharing
If you see the news today you can probably go back and include the original line “And think of all the hate there is in Red China, “. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I was five years old and in kindergarten during the 1962 Cuban Missle Crisis - the world was seconds from destruction. My mother and older sister (Dad had skipped out long before) tried to shelter me from what was happening but it wasn't possible as the Crisis was all around us, everywhere. Even in school. Finally I was allowed to watch Kennedy on TV give his "full retaliatory response" speech. I got up my childhood courage and asked my mom, "is there going to be a war, and are we going to die?" She couldn't keep it from me any longer and had to tell me the truth: "yes honey, there might be a war soon and if so, we will die. But we'll be together in Heaven and I will always love you." Thus I was consoled. God how I miss my mother right now....
I was in 7th grade. On the day after Kennedy spoke, I was in math class and the teacher spoke to the class. She told us what good students we were and how she happy and proud to be our teacher. As she spoke these words, she had tears in her eyes. It was only years later when reflecting on this did I finally realized she was saying goodbye. I pray that young adults will never know times like those. God Bless
Beautiful job, your lyrics are pungent, pointed and spot on! Please post these lyrics so I can print them and learn this song? May I humbly and respectfully request that you re-record this song, with a better balance between your voice and the instruments, and with careful diction? I couldn't understand all the words, and I was blown away by what I could understand. Want to hear the rest!!
That was awesome, it also shows the frustration of the person in the street about the global situation...the section about Bezos was eerily accurate, very many congratulations on this :)
A great song well done. The rewritten cover is good too. This new version is even more self-referentially ironic, bewailing societal divisiveness while contributing to divisive fear mongering. Some of need to toughen up. Some of us need to loosen up.
Bravo, nicely done, the lyric changes are so relevant today, I think the original writers of the lyrics and Barry McGuire would applaud you. My hope is you get many views and make people realize all the division was created by one soulless man.
Thank you for this arrangement 🙏 Love the song but struggled for a sound/ tone/ feel for it. You’ve nailed it & I’ll pinch it as best I can Great musical version.
Someone from the young generation needs to write one on this song but solely on climate change which could destroy us all. The original song came out when I was a child and I remember vividly the bomb fear that was pervasive. As an old man I don't see the youngstersangry enough to alleviate climate change You guys should be fearful of it as #1 problem. It will get worse.
" Enlightening and challenging to the status quo " the Audio and the Genuineness of the performance of this Song . YOUR creative RENDITION will be on The Balance of Our Future " one voice is nescessary to improve our Future . Five Stars ******
Well done. My friend sings a version. I was interested to hear you both picked up on The Hate in The Kremlin. The lyrics he sings are Think of all the Hate there is in the Kremlin, Think of the children Shakin and Tremblin. He also does another reworked song instead of Hitler he replaces it with Putin. To borrow the lyrics of another. Where have all the flowers gone
Pretty much the same going on in the States. It's interesting to see how the US is doing its psychological operations and keeps weaponizing the whole world
I've been wondering where are the protest songs from the youth of today and I found you and your beautiful rendition of a classic.
Thank you from a 77 year old
I like your innovation and style. With all that's going on today, it deserves air time.
I once again stumbled upon your channel. It's even a scarier time now. And the song is more relevant than ever before. Love is All You Need

Allergies? Oh, you TOO! Putin's gotta disappear because he IS a threat to the World to feed his oversized ego!

We WERE on the brink in those years. We were very close.
Barry McGuire was the featured musician at the Madera County Christian group many years ago. Great man of God

Almost, but not quite as much hate as was/is in the US
Pretty much the same going on in the States. It's interesting to see how the US is doing its psychological operations and keeps weaponizing the whole world
Young Girls have picked them every 1.

Excellent cover girl…well done, especially with Biden in office 😱😱😱…God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
Most of us in Europe think Biden was better than the last one you had, but that's not saying much unfortunately.
Well done.👏👏👏
