No complaints from me for long videos amout of Rossmann's live streams I have watched, love seeing the puzzle solving aspect of repairing electronics, hope the customer paid, loving the videos
Thanks for the longer form video. Creators that are brave enough to make videos of duration should be celebrated, those of us that like/want/need longer content to make it through the day should be making our voices heard. The almighty algorithm isn't right on everything...
I was searching ecsatly for a video like this One, where you can follow and understand every single part. I'm now approaching electronic fixing and I've got 2 PS4 to repair for myself, I will never thanks you enough, Google should has to pay much more people like you
Amazing job 👍🔥 i need to buy some of these encoder’s asap, also so happy to see that south bridge are replaceable i thought they were married to the board 🤦 anyway you’re a legend man 🔥
Well done !!! What a difficult job !!!! I've got a good suggestion for people who complain your videos are too long. Do a video especially for them of nothing but re balling chips.......in slow motion !!!!! That should shut them up !!!!!
That’s why I have my PlayStation five and PS4 Pro hooked up to monster surge protector I paid almost 3 or $400 for it if you love your electronics you should always have a surge protector to protect you against lightning strikes and it being insured through monster power surge protectors they were the best
Dude u well overpaid you can get magnets that clip onto your hdmi for £20 and extension surge protectors which are also covered by your insurance as long as there licensed for £25 for each room, I had a lightning strike it blew my router my ps4 which had every part replaced by insurance before it ran out it was a 3 year what I got when I bought it was connected via ethernet it blew that but was connected to my tv with a hdmi with 2 surge protectors one on each end what saved my tv, now in my gaming room my ps5 and Oled TV were £2500 on there own so I defo trust these surge extensions as they have a side button and when there's a surge it switches off immediately, I sent my ps4 to CEX and said it was unfixable? This was before I found my man here but if your happy spending $400 good on you but surge extensions do just a good a job at a lot cheaper
Phil, you never seem to fail to amaze folks the hand reball process, wicked video, and even though the customer might not want to pay, it’s more knowledge in the kitty for you and next time you might be spending only an hour on it! Nice job dude!
Awesome video Phil & props to you for sharing all your hard work in diagnosing this fault. So happy those chips are real so you can repair more consoles.
I'd say that in case the customer is not willing to pay, you effer to buy the console (at broken price, of course), because it would be a shameful waste to undo the repaair.
freaking awesome dude! watch alot of yb-solids and repair on different pcb's but u are both rly good and fun :D Ive been reparing alot stuff in my life, phones, computers, drones etc I dont even have an playstation, but i watch it and learn alot, thx mate!
Very nice work. That is so cool, seeing the work you do, with the hot air, and the rest of your tools. Your good at what you do , great trouble shooting. Maybe the owner will just tell you to keep it, or throw it away. If he don't want to pay. then you won't have to take the part back out
That is bloody amazing stuff, well done! The box near the ethernet port is the magnetics, which are used for isolation. I'm surprised they aren't integrated into the RJ45 port, but maybe Sony saves a few cents making them a separate part.
@@yungdegree-8127 oh shit that’s good to hear yo! I’m still waiting on the fedex box to come in..but shit I’ll let you know if I get lucky too haha thanks man!
Awesome repair - respect to you. Did the customer finally agree to the repair costs? And interestingly, did you direct them to this video as a keepsake?
Hi Phil - Glad to see the edited version of this...watching it live for those hours with you was rough, but I always learn something from your vids. lol Question though, was this video a combo of both PS5 systems? I don't know if I'm missing something or if someone else has already mentioned this, but in most of the video you were looking for a short and you had swapped the South Bridge from a PS5 donor board that you reballed and you mentioned it was the only one you have and if the customer isn't paying you weren't leaving it (for obvious reasons). But then at the end, you mention the chips were real and looking through the comments below and the link to the chip you listed on AliExpress it's all about the HDMI Encoder. So I'm just a little confused..more then normal. hahahahaha So, was this PS5 fixed in the end with the HDMI Encoder or the South Bridge? Thanks! 🙂
JustOneSecond no, ESD is horde crap mate, sorry, but I've never been "ESD protected" and I've never damaged components. Linus and ElctroBoom did a video on it last year
It definitely doesn't mate. Linus and ElectroBoom was literally zapping the chips with static discharge and it didn't do anything, and in 4 years I've never had a board come back because of anything ESD related
Thanks mate, it is indeed. I ordered another 12 so I have them in stock ready for when I need them, and to sell a few off on ebay to offset my costs too
Good job Phil. Thanks for the video. Really helpful information there. I've had way too many storm damaged ps5s in my workshop last week. And like yourself spend way too much time on them. All with different issues. From blown power supply's to encoders and southbridges. Ps5 are a bit sensitive to power surges it seems. Glad to know those chips are real as I've got some coming from Ali too. Keep up the good work!
Great stuff! I'd be a nervous wreck, especially with someone else's console. Did the customer end up wanting it fixed or did you have to undo all your hard work?
Great work on that one! I'll freely admit I had my doubts as to how fixable it was. Also, while not directly applicable to this case, I had a thought about retimer chip. Given the fact they seem to fail so often, do you think they're getting overheated or similar? Would attaching a small heatsink with thermal adhesive/pads do anything?
Man this is something I really want to get back into. I have a makeshift microscope, although planning on getting the trinocular type! Any tips on boardviews, software for them and schematics would be super helpful. Often I find it hard to repair something if I can't diagnose it. Recently discovered the channel after watching TronicsFix and gotta say, I love your channel, super informative and helpful!
Thanks mate. Yeah I would definitely recommend getting back into repairs. Even if you don't have the right equipment, just take a shot and build your equipment up as you go along on the journey. That's how I did it because I couldn't afford to pay for decent tools
You are help me a lot thanks and learning every day with you.... 100% your Channel it is the best in ps5 and you are a Great tecnicion... You don't have the best tools, but you are the best tecnick and the skills... TKS a lot brother.... TKS from Portugal....
Hi how much would something like that cost the customer. Also your soldering skills are insane. I just know if I tried that it would end up in a gloopy mess of destruction. Well done pal.
Very helpful video Phil. I have a PS5 that was allegedly "hit by lighting". When I do continuity checks around the encoder and south bridge, I'm getting approx 2.5 ohms resistance on 5 or 6 of the caps Is that considered shorted or is that a normal reading ?
my house got hit by lightning and blew up 2 xbox 360's a few years ago, they would work on component cables or whatever the 2nd method was of hookign up to the TV but not through the HDMI
I don’t mind your long videos bud. It’s relaxing. Informative. Encouraging. You’re the Bob Ross of electronics repair. Great work.
Totally agree
Phil does it again first with the southbridge replacement and now fixing a lightning strike victim, great work Phil.
Haha thanks buddy

I like the longer video, and the 'yesss' cheer at 44mins30ish. Great job!
Cheers bud. Its quite difficult to find the balance between too short and too long to be honest lol
I can imagine. You do want a complete story to be in the video, and not leave relevant parts out of it.
That was a spectacular fix, congrats and thanks for sharing the diagnostics process.

No if but when my ps5 goes wrong it’s being sent to you lol. You’re a legend mate! Love your videos!
Haha thanks mate, hopefully you never need me though
This just happened to me 3 days ago and lightning came into my ps5. I wish you were in America I'd send mine to you in a heartbeat. Great work!!

Someone could do well selling surge protectors, no? I lost a printer back in 1984, but learned my lesson, and haven't lost anything to surge since.
I had similar happen to me once... Took out my AV Receiver, Xbox One, Sky Q box, Sky Q router, and TV - thankfully the insurance replaced it all!
