I've left Mumbai for 2 years now and back in Shillong. Shillong is ok but it sucks when it comes to job opportunities and people here are fucking conservative anyway. Physically I'm at peace and love it here but mentally I'm healthy in Mumbai.
I'll leave my hometown again but I don't think I'll go back to Mumbai as its extremely expensive which makes no sense. Delhi Kolkata and Chennai are the other options for now otherwise I think I'll rather go to China, Singapore or Thailand.
Mumbai is still cheap if you are willing to live in far away suburbs like Vasai Virar Nalasopara Kharghar Ghansoli Khandeswar Dombivli Mumbra but you'll have to suffer in local trains daily. If you are not choosy you can live in a chawl too in the slums but I dont think its safe in those places. Mumbai is hell literally and it can be a slice of heaven too.
I'll still suggest you guys/girls to live in far away suburbs if you got no friends in order to save your earnings and also live in a good space apartment alone. I still appreciate the city but I feel the government should do something against the extremes real estate prices which is ridiculous comparing to local people salaries.

Moving to Mumbai was the biggest mistake of my life, now before some people tell me to go back, let me say, I am aligned with my job and the job demands I live in Mumbai, I think everyone in Mumbai residents or immigrants alike are exactly in the same situation, they just jhelo the city as their work demands, and then they kinda sweeten it by saying Mumbai spirit, plain sugarcoating, nothing else. We all live here and just wish we had this job in some other city. Basically 100/100 in terms of work, 0/100 in terms of life.

Halka Saa koi damage ka shikayat kardo toh they will ask you to leave in a month. The amount I am paying here in Mumbai, I can easily get a bigger house in the same amount in Delhi. But my choice to live independently and in a different city has also made me understood a lot of things which I couldn't have if I was still livin' with my parents or on my parents money.

Now imagine all the people of Kerala start living in just one city..3 cr people it's not easy task for any city to satisfy each individual in that senario..but Mumbai is only place where you can become or do anything that's why you are here..so keep that in mind.

people in Mumbai are really living a miserable life. go for Vada Pav wait in a queue, go for bus wait in a queue, wanna go by Taxi face rejection which you haven't faced that much in your job interviews. Let's not talk about Mumbai local, even trains capacity has been breached. 3 lakhs per year population increase, slums increases, traffic, house rates countless things affect by this. Being a Mumbaikar I would really request other states and cities to develop and accommodate their people in their city rather seeking a place in Mumbai... I really feel sad that people come with so much of dream but has to face many unexpected things and challenges.
