With all due respect sir, as a hydrogeologist I would recommend to plz don't use the surface runoff for recharge purpose as it would pollute the aquifer. Instead u can store the runoff in some storage tank which can be used for gardening, vehicle cleaning etc. The aquifer should be recharge only through Roof Top Rain Harvesting not through surface runoff.

As explained in the video we store rainwater in rain barrels and use it for drinking and cooking purpose. We store rainwater in sump tanks for other use. Excess water from the rooftop is placed into a recharge well . Clean catchments with no sewage and no solid waste is used to collect rainwater for recharge wells.

@zen in video at 1:53 it is clearly mentioned that road runoff is put into recharge well. That's why I mentioned otherwise very good work

Govt should make rain water harvesting compulsory or else pay double property tax every year .
This will solve Bengaluru water demand and less urban flooding

For only plots more than 1000 sqft
And also double Water bill & electricity bill.

@@_GMP_ It is not practical in built up areas where the population living is barely earning enough from paycheck to paycheck. They cannot afford to renovate the houses and in most cases, they are just tenants and the landowners just cannot afford to compromise the integrity of the foundation of the building by investing into recharge wells which can alter the soil structure. I've seen in many cases during construction of houses that they first drain the water table of site before laying the foundation. I know this is wrong, but people do it. SO the foundation set in dry soil can weaken when the groundwater table rises to the foundation level.
The only solution is a complete redevelopment of the entire city, especially the ill-planned layouts. Our government is too lazy to do all that plus too many complications along with corruption make this impossible.
