It is hard to imagine a world where the composer of such wonderful music is put to death by thugs. This is an exciting piece that is highly reminiscent of Scriabin. The hat is definitely something special.
Merci, merci pour cette magnifique video! Je n'ai pas de mots...cette musique si bouleversant...Fantastique Nathalia Romanenko, l'orchestre de Toulouse, le directeur Swensen. Mon Dieu!
Marvellous work, terrific performance, great hat. I would add 'Viktor' to 'Ullmann' and that there is an encore, under the screen. Greetings from East Anglia in England
Wonderful work . Such spirit under such circumstances, Mon Dieu ! Pianist Herbert Schuch has just released a cd of this Concerto on the Oehms label. Ullmann's complete piano sonatas are even more compelling, and on a Steinway Sons cd, Jeanne Golan, pianist, a must cd for pianophiles.
A composer whose life was cut way to short. The actual performance starts a 7:12. A must see and hear for the true music lover. (posted by Rosa Angelina Daye.)
It seems like Ms. Romanenko is undecided between being a pianist and a glamour model. I am not complaining though... both her playing and her looks leave little to be desired. A very intriguing concerto and wonderful repertoire choice. And thank you for the video !!!
***** Don't you think that's being a little sexist? Personally I think she is very attractive, but that is of no relevance. I like her playing and the fact that she is not relying on the usual warhorse repertoire. With so many artists around it seems rather mean to criticise her for exploiting her considerable assets!
Paul Lanfear Nope, it is complimentary rather than sexist, and I was not criticizing. Just observing that she would do splendidly either way. Perhaps she is having a dual career, good on her. And I absolutely respect any artist more for choosing off-the-track repertoire.
dedicated performance of an interesting concerto. I am familiar with the (Jewish) artist's musical/cultural philosophy - see her site...and could have done without the ethnohistorical "positioning" of the music, that is, the blatant sexing and holocausting. The audience didn't seem to mind, though

I think you miss the point of the dress and hat which was to put the listener in the ambiance the Concerto was writen.
Why shouldn't she be both?
Chris, my man! You are being a sexist. Cool your jets!

+David Luck "holocausting" ??? Making up words, are we? Not sure what "sexing" is ..... except as a term in biology.
