      Hi Dan, I look forward to welcoming you to the final stage 60 point flagship research project module for M06 in a few years. Meanwhile, you could consider applying your legal education to problems arising in Space Law.

    Hello I am a recent graduate in engineering and will be moving to work as a nuclear engineer in the Royal Navy with something that may look like 7-8 months work and 4 months off duty maybe 5/6. Do you think this course will be good for me. Alway wanted to do astrophysics as well as mechanical engineering. The best thing about this is that I not only go through the advance but I can also skip essential mathematics 1 which saves me £1731. Do you think the OU can work around my life? Looking to get the masters in around 7/9 years. (Yes long run almost a decade).

    I switched from R51 to M06 - doing S217 now. Good luck!

      Thanks and good luck too. Can’t wait to do S217 as looks really interesting but is gonna be a few years yet until I start that

      Switched over to M06 from M04, the Astrophysics and space science content got me good 😅. Going full time from next October though 💀.

      @@morganmagee1998 good luck with it! I think a lot of people I spoke to were swayed by the advanced start and astrophysics/space science option and think it could be a popular qualification by the sounds of it 😊

    I also noticed that on some pathways the 60 credit stage 2 “classical to quantum” module was omitted. This module underpins the whole of physics. I find it absolutely baffling how one could complete any physics related module without it. (Unless studied in their own time during the summer etc)
    I also noticed another vlogger on here graduated in what is basically a theoretical physics degree. Yet completely omitted electromagnetism in their last year. Again I find this baffling how one could have a degree in theoretical physics yet only know introductory electromagnetism.
    But I suppose that’s also a benefit of the OU. You can literally choose any module that you like 👍

      From the information on their website the module S217 ‘from classical to quantum’ is compulsory for the named BSc physics and BSc Physics and Maths degrees as well as on both pathways for the MPhys. However it is not a module available for their Astronomy and Planetary Science BSc which is why I chose the MPhys so I could do astronomy, planetary science and S217. It is also optional for those on STEM and open degrees but I don’t see why anyone would choose physics modules without S217.
      Regarding electromagnetism, once again it’s compulsory for the BSc Physics and MPhys, but again optional for other degrees such as ‘astronomy’, ‘physics and maths’, ‘STEM’ and ‘Open Degree’ but again I’m not sure why people would choose mainly physics modules without doing electromagnetism. Also, I believe to be accredited by the Institute of Physics the degree needs to include both S217 and electromagnetism, so it may just be these people have completed combined STEM or open degrees with science subjects.

    How did you have the time to do a law and physics degree? Thats quite some going !

    • @DanUniAndBooks
      @DanUniAndBooks  2 года назад

      They’re not overlapping so that helps, graduate from law this summer and start physics in October although was working on a module from UCLan the past year whilst finishing the law degree which was hard going 😂

    • @DanUniAndBooks
      @DanUniAndBooks  2 года назад

      I believe the pathway M06 only started this year as I was not aware of it before this, however, the modules that comprise M06 especially the first few years have been available to study for a number of years as part of other pathways such as BSc Physics and BSc Astronomy & Planetary Science

    I would like to emphasise on something- “Question in science” is the most useless course in the hole degree , so I would recommend if you are wondering about which path to take choose the one with Essential Mathematics 1 and 2. You will thank me later, cause it’s very important to be comfortable with mathematics especially differential equations, linear algebra and calculus. Essential Mathematics 1 is good but you need to take the second part as well if want to be good at doing Physics.

    hI Dan, So why go from Law to Physics. I cant see the connection, if any?. The two subjects seem to require a very different mind set maybe. Physics being primarily stem - good luck to you in your future studies - But I'm still baffled in your choice?
