Love your videos John, I bought that San Martin 62MAS and Aquaterra homage based on your videos, I never would've known about Watchdives without your videos. Both watches are excellent watches. Your high resolution videos and detailed info on the watches makes your channel a standout among the rest.
Thank you for your kind comments. I really appreciate it. I am not a skilled videographer but I learn more everyday. I gauge myself based on reviews six months ago...and try to do it better 🧐😊
I have this with the sapphire and think it looks better suited to your wrist than my 7.25 inch wrist. I think this dials design suits a 38-38.5mm case for my wrist as it looks a tad small although I've not tried on straps yet. I cancelled the white version due to production delays but got the black (fav one) and brown explorer sapphire versions. These are better IMO for lume and dial size to wrist size. Interestingly the brown appears larger due to the minute markers colour knocking them back more than the black one. The cases, crystals, dials, hands, movement and clasps really are great, the bracelet topside and end links were fine on my ones. My only gripes were the sharp edges to the underside of the bracelet which hinders the comfort a little whilst wearing. Although the tolerances were fine the links can be a bit squeaky but that is nit picking as they wear pretty much silent on wrist. I'm gonna try a nail file on the bracelet underside and clasp top ends I think to improve comfort. All in all a great lightweight grab and go work watch but also as versatile as you want. Still dislike the Addisdive logo especially on non dive watches.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Personally I found the bracelet on my watch fine. No rough edges and no sticky or squeaky links even though I expected to given my Addiesdive experience so I was surprised!
Wow, was that a beautiful spot at the beginning of the vid! If I ever get over there, you'll have to take me! Nice watch as well. I'm glad they brought this one back. San Martin had this out a few years ago, but it had disappeared for about a year. This was one of my favorite cases they ever released no matter which dial they put in it!
Hi Dan. When you get better and you get over here I promise I'll take you...how's that! As for the watch, it is a very tidy affair with loads of potential for sure. Keep well Dan 🤗
Great (fair) review, John. Watchdives really came through on the WD1016 and you've shown it in your review. Details like the brushed case top, smoothed under case edges, smooth caseback with tool notches, 20mm lug slim case. Plus refinements like the 🔱branding on the clasp, but keeping the small dial unbranded, to suit the field/homage aesthetic. 37mm suits out 6.7-6.75 wrists!
Glad you got to spend time with the family. Mrs. JWJ figured she’s not going to see you for about 2 weeks because of the 11.11 Sale.😅 This is a terrific little watch for the money. I think with the new logo and sorting out of the QC issues, the edge goes to Watchdives for me. Although, Addiesdive is almost just as good when it comes to value. Thanks for the great review as always!
Hi Albert. There isn't much between them now but Watchdives have momentum...however Addiesdive have market share and a loyal following. I can see a great rivalry that should be good for us all ;)
Thanks for the video John, just ordered this it's giving me strong serica vibes without the horrendous price , looks like the perfect gada watch to me, I splashed out and upgraded to the sapphire 😊.
Great review, and interesting to hear your opinion on WD v Addies. I'm very pleased to see they have opted for conventional case back opening and 20mm lugs on a 37mm oyster style case, I might be tempted depending on dial/hand options 👍
I like it a lot. It would also look great on a black rally strap. Its nice to have some quartz watches around that you can just grab and not worry about setting date, time and winding it before running out. The new logo also looks really great.
This is a dead ringer for the lovely, but now discontinued, Serica 4512. That one is a hand-winder, but I prefer the VH31 quartz. The Serica goes for around $450-500 on the secondary market and I’ve almost pulled the trigger on eBay and Reddit several times over the past year. This WD will do nicely, instead.
Thanks for the review. Much respect to the cupboard of doom. Please be careful in there. Sapphire options seem to be sold out. Maybe more will be available by 11/11
Good and honest video as always. Kind of surprised that they went for the unconventional 37mm bezel, and glad to see that they are doing that trident logo instead of the old one that honestly looked like some kind of variation of the SM logo. Now imagine if Addiesdive would pay a few bucks to someone to make them a decent logo.
Hi buddy. Yeah I just don't get Addiesdive not sorting that out. I've actually come up with ideas myself.... perhaps I'll send them to them and see what happens...Don't wait up haha 😆
@@johnswatchjoint Yes, I think you should send Addiesdive your ideas... it will elevate their branding, I'm sure. They really need to rebrand. When they do so, we hope they can sort out any trademark registration issues and spend the money for the task.
It's good they're at least let us choose better sapphire and mineral. Oh, and that's a nice new logo. I wonder if they upgrade older models to the new logo subsequently.
I like Watchdives and have three of them (Speedy, Submariner, 50 Fathoms), but here I prefer my Lorus RG887CX9. Almost half the price, titanium, crown guard, worse lume.
Beautiful Scenery! I love WD and this little fella is stunning. John is WD far behind San Martin? In terms of finishing? I'm very happy with WD and Addiesdive but San Martin look so stunning..
San Martin are a good bit ahead BUT customer service is everything and they continue to disappoint as I often see ....and end up helping poor customers either on Reddit or when they reach out to me for help. It shouldn't happen 🫤
That scenery looks a lot like the Adirondacks in upstate NY. Lots of Scottish place names around upstate Perth, Dundee, I guess Albany and Scotia too.😂
If you look up Falls of Braan, Dunkeld you'll see a lot of pics and videos. It's part of The Hermitage, a National Trust for Scotland site. Some of the oldest / tallest trees in Britain and a gorgeous trail to walk 👌
It's amazing how much Scotland looks like the Western North Carolina Highlands, no wonder this is where all us Ulster Scots washed up. Nice watch also.
Hello John, the watch looks lovely, I'm thinking about picking it up, however it seems to me that the hands get lost easily in the dial. How would you rate the legibility, comparing it with a 369 style (like the Baltany Explorer you have) ?
The Baltany is a better watch but it is also a lot more expensive. The handset on the Baltany is therefore of a better quality but really this watch does it really well and for me legibility isn't an issue....even with my older eyes haha! Cheers,
If you got the brown version then it is C3 and not BGW9 like on this version. As can clearly be seen the Lume on this unit is absolutely fine. I would suggest you use your free return option and try another colour way. Problem solved
I like the new trident logo used on the applied indices version. And I hope that Watch Dives will begin using that same logo on all of their watches.
I believe that is the plan 👌
I've just subscribed, and have been binge-watching. I'm sticking around.
This watch ticks all my boxes!

Очень интересные часы. Отличный обзор! Спасибо
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching 😊
I've never seen this quartz version. I have the automatic limited edition version of this watch, and it's fantastic.

Great review and a real no brainer for the price. This particular dial and hand combo isn't directly copying anything too, which I like.
Glad you enjoyed the review. It's a cool watch
@@fyioska Dial and hands have been copied from Serica Wrist.Watch.Waterproof. WMB Edition.
Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thank you, I just ordered one! The lume test was decisive.
Glad I could help! ☺️
Always appreciate you putting your reviewed watches on different bands / straps 👍cheers
I will be getting this one in the 11/11 sale. I love the dial and hands combination.
Yeah, Serica did a good job with this one 😅
? It's not a Serica.
@@johnswatchjoint But it has dial and hands of Serica...
The hands are inspired by a Serica but the dial is more Hamilton Khaki
@@johnswatchjoint No, it isn't, please have a look at Serica Wrist.Watch.Waterproof. WMB Edition, aka 4512 WMB.
The Baltany one I own is with a date and a Safire cristal, the perfection 👌🏼

Hi buddy. Glad to hear you agree. Working on a long AliExpress 11.11 vid now...😳
I got one of the first brown 369's when they released about a month ago. It's been on my wrist ever since. The new logo is a winner.
Great choice.👌

I’m very tempted with the brown dial explorer version of this watch.
Finishing looks lovely.
Looks bigger than 37mm, but that’s fine with me.
It does wear slightly larger. More like a traditional 38mm. 🤗

@@johnswatchjoint It is certainly a big contrast to what a lot of us in the US think of as Scotland. We usually envision the treeless hills.
We get that too in the Glens but the West coast is stunningly beautiful at this time of year.

Nice looking watch but a tad to small for me. I’ve got the 40mm Hamilton khaki king which is perfect. Go clear review
Fair point. I obviously wear watches that suit my size and slightly up. 🤗
Have you tried the Submariner or Capt Willard offerings from this company ? Thanks 🙏

If the khaki and sky dweller had a watch 😂
8:47 what's not gada about a field watch?
I love field watches but most are a little too military to wear with a suit. This covers the bases 🤗
Wish we could upgrade the clasp. It’s so nasty
? no it's not ?
Hour hand is not fully lumed this is the downfall of this watch
