Thank you for this video. I must have watched a video featuring the old version and just bought one that turned out to be the new version and I couldn't figure out why I felt disappointed. I'm going to send mine back also.
I had the same issue as you but when I tightened the shoulder straps better, when it's on, this was a game changer and really hugs your back completely, without any pressure on your lower back. Most comfortable backpack I have.
What about the water bladder pockets, a lot of people are complaining that it is almost impossible to fit a filled water bladder in the new one. Have you had a chance to compare the water bladder pockets?
Had a first version talon 44, bought Jan 2010. I did my mountain Guiding courses with it. Travelled hundreds of times with it. Skiing, alpinism, trekking, bushcrafting, dessert, roughness....really heavy duty stuff. And now, only now is starting to tear a bit. Itsthe best, lightest most comfortable baflg i ever had. Even better than my Millet Epic. Wpic is bit more padding but heavier and bunquier. The first/modified first version of talon was something unique. As i said I'm a mountain guide, and have been carrying backpacks outdoors since 1991... I don't know why they just fuck up with good perfect features. What's the purpose???? We're not fashion killers. We don't care about feature modernity shit . And still the osprey is the best in the market.

Never got that far with the new one. Tried it out.... and was so much worse for me, I just bailed on it.

you should be able to take it on to a plane as personal item. Not really that much taller. very subtlety
