I attended SVA at the same time Drew and his brother were there. He was already doing really great work at the time. I found Drew to be a humble, friendly, energetic, and all-around fine guy! And you can double that sentiment in Caps! I regret that we never got to take a field trip to the Museum of Cartoon Art that Drew was pushing to do so often.

Every shoot interview is a masterclass. I hope that, one day, there could be a published compendium of these interviews. I think it would be valuable to the comix community, as well as readers interested in the creative process.

One of the best! Persons Living or Dead warped my mind in the best possible way back in the 1980s, and he's only gotten better since. A true master

The key to that Raw issue with its cover corner being torn off was that when you bought the issue you didn't get the torn piece from your book! Art made certain you picked a different corner piece to bag up with that issue. This way no one had or could restore the book. Doing this fit in with Art's philosophy of just collecting for value, ignoring the work itself. In many of his classes taught at SVA, he would deconstruct what would be described as the mainline. Along these lines, the card set that came with an issue of Raw was mixed so you could not get a complete set of cards. He wants you to value the work, the art in all its forms. This was all before the speculator's explosion in the 80s and early 90s.

If you ever get a chance, check out the episodes of Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast with Drew. He's really an old Hollywood historian and hilarious guy. Great sense of humor.

After seeing Fred Mertz exposed for what as a child I suspected a darker hideous quality that extended consciousness and whan he lays down bass for bird at the Blue note .....it became.
    fact.
Drew you're absolute genius and I'm jealous as hell .
