I just moved to Katy from Maryland last summer. Absolutely love it here and willl never go back. I don’t even want to go back to MD to visit 😂 the reason why wasn’t interested in the woodlands is because it looks like MD but with dead grass lol. Not interested in the same thing as I had before. I was very underwhelmed with the Woodlands. Katy feels different and the landscape is beautiful to me.
This is an interesting take! I actually love this perspective. So many people love the trees but I guess if you’re coming from somewhere that already had those a change is desired
I currently live in MoCo Maryland and I used to live in Dallas but I want to move back to Texas not sure if I want to move back to Dallas so I have been thinking about Houston. My only concerns are the drivers and the humid weather. Tell me how have you adjusted to the weather and drivers ?
@@thewordologistchannel4574 unfortunately I’ve lived here my whole life and both of those things never seem to get better. Don’t honk your horn unless you are warning a drive that’s not paying attention. Drive common routes you will need for work ahead of time when it’s not rush hour so you won’t be surprised by some pretty crazy exits and merges onto highways. June-Aug limit time outside as much as possible unfortunately.
Non houston ppl watching research where the chemical plants!! These are mostly south and SOUTHEAST! This is why the neighborhoods are cheaper and usually not as nice because it’s not sought out for. So yah environmental health would be a red flag 🚩 to look 👀 for!
My wife and I moved here from Austin in 2013 for my career, and I was not looking forward to living here because we loved Austin. However, we ended up moving to Conroe, and we love it. I wouldn't go back to Austin for twice what I get paid now.
Regarding the Fort Bend County Appraisal District, you can forget about lowering your annual appraisal. I have hired and fired two companies that could not lower our appraisal meaningfully. It is the worst appraisal district in the Houston Area, so you better think twice about that before you buy a home in Fort Bend County. And, they are building houses in Fort Bend County like there is no tomorrow at "high" prices, which will be used against you by the appraisal district appraisers and the appraisal board. In fact, I spoke with a company representative who does property tax protests who lives a few miles from me in Fort Bend County and he could not even get his property tax appraisal reduced, so now you know.
One thing to add. If the job you are looking for isn't in the suburb area don't take it. The 610 loop is a mess. I 10 (katy freeway) is the worst. The geniuses added "managed lanes" years ago which make the whole thing awful. I45 North is a mess. And 59 is a mess from the southside. If you do find a job in Houston make sure it pays close to six figures if not more so you can afford the POS 1950's-1970's era homes that are massively overpriced and falling apart that are made into painted pigs (basically they make them look good enough to hide all the problems).
Looking for something elegant and traditional in Tanglewood. This is covering all of the far outskirts. Not in the market for school districts etc. I heard Tanglewood is wonderful location?
Also. Katy has big blue skies and green grass. The woodlands has so much shade, the grass doesn’t grow as well or is often Brown. The skies also don’t seem as big there compared to Katy.
@@trevorharper5042 Katy is adjacent to the Addicks Dam, which was the cause of most of the flooding during Hurricane Harvey. Terribly overbuilt, just waiting to get flooded again. Only a question of when.
Ive lived in Houston 15 years now and live in the GOOF. this is a good video but he underestimates the drive time and traffic. Unless you work in the suburbs and have little kids that will be entering Elementary school, rrrreally think twice about living in the suburbs. There are REGULAR accidents and can make your commute completely dreadful and you'll never see your kids during the weekdays. They'll have to be in after school care everyday. Also, most of the cool spots and events happen inside the 610 loop. So think about your social life. Personally I don't think more square footage offsets the lack of entertainment and the hour+ long commutes!
Avoid places like Pearland, La Porte, deer Park, Pasadena, and Channelview! There are a lot of chemical plants surrounding these areas, and the environmental health impact is great on those living in the communities
I was also wondering if you could cover school districts in the areas you speak about. Or make a video about school districts and their rep. For example cyfair from the outside view seems like one of the best school districts to put your kids in. However it’s far from it. I would say it’s actually one of the worst. I don’t know just a video of pros and cons of school districts would be amazing Edit: I didn’t finish watching the video when I wrote that. You brought up katy school district and cy fair I agree with Katy districts being the best. Cy-fair is pretty ghetto and not as academically advanced as Katy is. But an entire video on the school districts there would be great 👍😁
That’s too broad of a question. The best way to answer this would be to connect you with a team member, and run different financial scenarios on specific homes for you as you look to purchase. Connect here, we’d love to help you answer this! ferrisrealty.com/survey
I can’t answer that directly. I can say that I have always felt safe in all of the suburbs and neighborhoods that we have filmed videos on. I live in Conroe and have most of my life and don’t ever think about crime.
Moved here in ‘94. This is generally accurate but a few factual missteps. Howard Hughes did not create The Woodlands. Mr Mitchell would take great exception to that. Drive times are also underestimated depending on the time of day (ie rush hour). That said, I’ve lived all over the country and am in my 7th home, 3rd in Houston. I love it here and bicycle to work on Terry Hershey Park.
I feel like this dude isn't telling y'all the real deal. Live west of 45 and north of 59. The ghetto is sprinkled throughout everywhere, traffic is pretty bad, better learn how to drive fast and defensively, and finally you can flood almost anywhere. Obviously the closer to the creeks, rivers and lakes will increase that chance. But if you love food, come to Houston. We got everything you want to eat!
Hello, my family would like to build a home in Conroe TX, we are from Kentucky and willing to meet your team to discuss it the first week of October. Please reply if this is possible. Thanks
Suburbia is disgusting. Encouraging this will lead to a city that is more deadly, lifeless, and isolated for everyone. If you want to live and work in Houston (and can afford it), then live and work in Houston. Why wreck our city with ever expanding highways for people outside of the community to have horrendous commutes? If you don’t want to live in an urban environment, then go somewhere rural. You can’t have an in between.
