Thank you so much for all your time and hard work, driving & the research hours--- thank you for all of it. I enjoy your videos & always learn from them. I'm from Woodland, PA -- a little ways outside Clearfield. They are both I-80 exits. The West Branch of The Susquehanna runs through Clearfield. There are many old, original big homes with outbuildings along the river. (Across the street and through a park.). There is a house (was a bed 'n' breakfast when I last lived in Clfd. County) that has a history of being on the underground railroad. There is a secret room for the slaves to hide in. The river was their "highway". When the property was purchased and renovated to return it to it's much older glory days, the room was discovered. Also there is a carriage house and I believe a summer kitchen. One of the oldest homes. Near there was where I first discovered a narrow stairway in my mother's friend's huge house. It went to the kitchen. I thought 2 staircases was so cool. The other one was in the great room and was large & fancy. So much history. Thanks again!!
Yes. It was in Lancaster. Lancaster city had a bunch of slave quarters. Alot of mansions with slave quarters. Not a servants quarters but a slave quarters. What's interesting now is the slave quarters which were separate buildings have now become single house holds are worth millions.
Thank you for sharing. Living in SC everyone talks about slavery in the South. No one talks about slavery in the North. People don't realize the the proclamation of 1865 only freed the slaves in the South. Slavery was a black eye in our countries history. Sometimes I get mad at those who disrespect the soldiers of the south by still flying the rebel flag. Proud to be American. Proud they took the Rebel flag down of our Statehouse grounds. Only my opinion. Great video
Approx 4000 slaves in pennsylvania in 1780 within the first 28 yrs it nearly entirely disappeared. 60000 free blacks in pa in 1860. 3.5 million enslaved to 1 million free in US in 1860
Charles Wikstrom, I looked twice at a section around 13;50 where you were sitting on that log and panning your camera, it looked like right in front of you under those big dead branches was a old gravestone, it had square cut edges low and a crowned top. good luck in your hunt, Charles.
I found the slave cemetary in 2000! you were in the general area; there is no path except by deer, and it is on the slope below the grassy plain you were on. NE cattycorner from the McCallister Cemetary. the tombstones were facing uphill, as if the feet were pointing north. Best found in winter. I hope you find it!
HI There Wondering Wood! One Country which is still a French Possession today is GUADELOUPE it become free from Slavery in 1794, and than Napoleon returned it back again in 1802, for the United-States Slave Trades began in 17th Century it become free from slavery in 1868, and GUADELOUPE become definitly in 1848, and MARTINIQUE as well, only HAÏTI took their independance in 1804 to become the first Black Republic in this place.
Awesome you made it,I will research and try to find it.I know they said it was located in a wooded area in the fall in going go search til I find it,very interesting.thank you for checking on it
After watching this video, I decided to look on Google Earth to see if I can find something and I believe that I have. There appears to be a square enclosure about half a mile east of the first cemetery along a dirt road at 40 degrees 20min 38.50 north by 76 degrees 53min 47.40sec west. It is just east of a bend in the river.
I think I know where the cemetery is, pass fort hunter park bear right on fishing creek rd.cross 322 make 1st left drive back public rd 1/2 mile there's a dirt road on right that has a cable or gate, park along rd and walk up to cemetery
Did you see this blog about the same place you are looking for.. fhcemetery.blogspot.com/ They have pics of it. It seems to be in the woods at least there are trees around the graves in the pics. Is this the one you were looking for?

Slave cemeteries rarely had any markers or gates.

Thanks, I plan on going back in the fall to look again
I had an idea....could you try pencil shadowing on the stones...might be able to read them.
Sad the slave cemetary wasnt easy to find. Shouldve been cleaned up and a sign for it well marked out.
Very interesting and well done videos. Is that a tick by your left ear ?
Thanks, and yes, it was a tick
Great effort! Cool hike anyway. Thanks for sharing!!

I walked back there today. This isn’t the slave cemetery he was trying to find
Thank you from Washington state. Black history is American history 💕
I love fort hunter
Why would the slave cemetery be hidden? Hiding the mistake and hope it disappears.
I enjoy your "yapping" (ha,ha)

Most likely. I'll be going back this winter to look for it again, when all the vegetation has died back.
