I have rather large hands, and I learned on a standard scale when I was 14, and my hands were smaller. Now I wouldn’t give up my SG (think EB). The difference in playability is worth the sonic differences of the shorter scale.
I’ve been following your BEHS posts for about three months now-very interesting, informative, and challenging stuff. I especially like your enunciation of BEHS; my friends and I get a kick out of it. I’m just a month into my 67th birthday and retirement. Your spots are inspiring me to take my BEHS out of storage, and try to get back in touch with my musical side. Due to personal traumas over the last few decades, I let my music slide. Hey, it’s too late to be a bluddie rock star (😁), but there’s much to be said about self enriching ventures, eh? Keep up the good fight for BEHS entertainment, enjoyment, and literacy.
I want to learn bass so bad, but I have a really hard time doing two different things with my hands, and they’re very small. It’s quite discouraging :’)
I learned to play on a crappy short scale bass, and loved it, until a jam buddy told me it was time to get rid of the kiddy bass, so I upgraded to a J Bass lol. I think if I get a new bass soon (I’d have to convince the lady), I’d go back to a short scale cause it was really fun
I love short scales- for me the fender duo sonic is the one to beat..but can anyone give me the name of that white bass at the end? Looks like 12 string styling but for bass..so maybe an 8 string..it also reminds me of the fender VI
I love my J bass, but sometimes just the thought of strapping that anchor around my neck makes me wince. So I’ll grab my shorty EB-0 instead and happily thump away. 😊
I honestly find short scales so fun to play

I love that strat that you’ve turned into a bass, and I want to say that I love your content. I think you’d be a great bass teacher.
is actually a "custom instrument" by retrovibe
What about the tele tho😋😋
@@mxdesigns3657 same
@@cirnegro8938what about the guitar pickup in the bridge?
@@ordinaryperson9472thats called a Telecaster he just made it have bass strings its normally a guitar though
This is my first time seeing a tele bass I am appalled and also amazed
It fucks
I couldnt relate more
It’s quite the dilemma
The Telecaster BEHS is a bit like the American Bison; there once were many, now there are few.
@@harrybrooks8514now all I can see in my head is a giant pile of telecaster headstocks like in that picture of bison skulls
I think Tina Weymouth deserves a shout out here
Tina Weymouth should get a shout, surely!
Where's Tina Weymouth man?!?! Surely the next list 🤔
Fun Fact: Paul McCartney did both the bass and drums on Dear Prudence
The telecaster bass is called the "Retrovibe T30" if anyone is wondering
Justice for Mark Sandman and his two string, short scale bass
Holy shit I NEED that Tele bass

Man that Macca bass line is so simple, yet so perfect 🔥
Please, play more these Strato-bass and Tele-bass!
Great song choices: Badge and Dear Prudence!
I never realized that Stanley Clarke's Alembic bass was a short scale. Never saw him use a pick though..
If I’m not mistaken, Alembic still offers a Stanley Clarke model. It’s short scale and way outside of my bluddie grasp ($$$$.00)
You NAILED Stanley Clarke dude
Strato bass and tele bass
Crazy
Need to see Phil Lesh in the next one!
The Chas and Jack pieces were fabulous, so well done on ALL your demo's and RIP Chas and Jack and Allen.
Great list. Needs Mike Kerr in the next one 😉
He does
Some beautiful basses, and great playing! New Count Day #190 of BEHgging for Necrobutcher's BEHS tone!
I've been playing my short scale Gibson Les Paul bass since I bought it new in 1974. I have never wanted to change.
Colin Moulding (XTC) played a F Mustang (short scale) on a few songs. Top musician.
Colin--🔥!
Amazing as always! Keep up the good behs playing!
Really good song choices🎉
Lovin’ that new chowny 🤘😎🤘🍒
What’s the allman brothers band song name?
Whipping post- but I think Berry Oakley played the original studio track with a jazz bass. Nevertheless great pick

Nice Animals line choice.
I need that tele
Edit: and the strat. They both look so cool
Badge.. what a great bass line from Jack Bruce
Berry Oakley composed the bass lines for "Whipping Post" years before Allen Woody made Hall Annie!
That telecaster bass blew my mind
Nice to see Chas chandlers bass playing on here
Don’t forget Mike Kerr from Royal Blood
How's Tina Weymouth not in the top 5
You gotta try the Gretsch jet bass
Its a short scale, cheap and sounds amazing
I have one...love it!
What was the all man brothers song you played ?
Unless I’m grossly mistaken, the short-scale bass seemed to be more visible back in the 60s and 70s than in the later decades. What thinkest thou?
Robert Levon Been from Black rebel motorcycle club is also a great one, he plays an old Epiphone Rivoli Bass, those things are beautiful
Also, in my book: Stu Hamm (first signature bass) and Neils Kinsella from God is an Astronaut. 👍🏼
Need a list of top short scale basses.
I never thought i needed a strat bass so bad
The white Stratocaster bass, where did that come from?
More on you short scale collection please
Rip Allen Woody. Nice to see him mentioned among the legends as he should be
It would really suck to have that name though
Anyone know the song he played?
@@finleywayeon Allen Woodys part i think it was just a jam (like Woody did alot). It reminded me of Whipping Post or One Way Out though
What kind of bass is that for Allen Woody?

Love short scale basses as I am a short scale human 😂😂
Bill Wyman!
What's bass used for Stanley Clarke and from what song is the piece?
that creme bassline gives me wii vibes
Short scale basses are a great way for guitar players to learn bass.
I'd love to play short scale but as a 6'1 230 pound man it just looks really off when I try lol
Thinking of getting one. My arthritis is killing me.
Damn age.
What's the Allman Brother's lick?
what is the hollow you used for the beatles cover?
Can you try to replicate P-Nut's bass tone?
Damn that Tele Bass is so good. What's the model?
Justin Mendel-Johnson should be on this list!!! He’s the man!!!
