In the second phase you could have held crocker back and used him to capture enemy supplies and if you are lucky catch the artillery in the river which would allow you to destroy at least part of it, their general sometimes would give chase to recapture the supplies allowing you to take him out
@@wormsandwarriors I remember that one time enemy infantry started chasing crocker so I lead them in a merry go round and while crocker was eventually cornered and put down, as I didn't want them to accidentally intercept my reinforcements, this gave me enough time to bring my reinforcements up and take out the ironclads
@@wormsandwarriors it should be up sometime this week. Ultimate General is one of the first games I watched people play on RUclips and one of the first series I did on my own channel. I still enjoy watching it,as much as I did back then.
Picked up this game and the Gettysburg game a while back probably during a Steam sale and had yet to give them a try. This looks pretty interesting so might have to move this up my list and give it a go soon. Will be looking forward to the rest of the series. Don't think you did too bad from a "rust" standpoint except I think you had trouble keeping track of units and status at times, missing opportunities and being at times indecisive, but surely something that will get better as you get back into it. Expanding on a specific for that, in the second part of the battle I would have taken that cavalry and snuck it into the yankee backside and taken out the artillery units, the general, and the supplies. Massive opportunity for a bold stroke missed. Of course that is if the game functioned somewhat realistically to the times. If not, ignore me completely. Ha.
Hey, thanks for the comment! Yeah I think this game has aged nicely! About the cav - I suppose it could be do-able but my thinking was that with the unit being so tiny it likely wouldn't be very effective at getting into the rear of the Federal force. Who knows though, it probably was a missed opportunity - I'm sure it won't be the last haha :D
Great game, seems to have flown under the radar abit. Really enjoyed their Gettsyburg game as well. Did you ever play the Sid Meiers Gettsyburg back in the date?
Completely agree, I would argue J&P is really the ''real'' game in so far that it has gone over all the things Civil Wars development time didn't have the chance to correct or redo. Must have mod!
When I first started the channel I had intended on covering local history. I like in north east England - in County Durham. So, County Durham has lots of legends about “worms” (or dragons, but they are referred to as worms) and lots of warrior related history (Vikings, Saxons, Romans etc etc etc). My wife drew me the cover photo and logo and I really liked it so just ended up sticking with the name :) It’s not a very interesting story sadly haha 😂
The idea had been to cover some of those legends and local history. I made a couple of little “documentary” style videos early on but to be honest nobody really watched them and they were hard work to put together so though hey, I like gaming, so even if nobody watches the videos at least they’re good fun to make ha 😂 Sorry about the essay long responses but hope it’s answered your question. Funny enough, you’re the first person to ask and I thought someone else would’ve done before now.

So cool that the cav had guns made by palmetto. I used to have an ar15 made by them

Yeah no doubt about it

Oh yeah Sid Meier’s Gettysburg was one of my favourite games back in the day
You should try the J&P mod it makes the game a lot better I wouldn't never play it without it now

Fun fact if you can't beat the first battle you automatically lose and got to restart campaign
Quite right too haha
So i have to ask, what is the premise behind you channel name?
