    Kwandi quilt making has become my secret obsession. They are each so unique and knowing they were started by my ancestors who were captured and enslaved it gives me a sense of joy to honor them.

      Mam its kaudi.....in olden days every household had quilts in north Karnataka...Nowadays using kaudi has become old fashioned...Here and there we can see people stitching quilts... The one you are making is a simple quilt.

    I'm enjoying this style of quilting also. I have a question that I haven't found the answer to after watching multiple videos is, do the stitches have to line up one above the other? Or is it just to keep the stitches consistent and the spacing of the rows consistent the idea?

    • @Planetpearl
      @Planetpearl  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your kind words, as far as I know, the stitches don’t have to line up one above the other .

    I just discovered Kawandi thanks to Margaret Fabrizio an artist extraordinaire in San Francisco when one of her videos from 11 years ago popped up in my feed. That was 4 days ago. I am hooked and loving it!
    I am so excited you got to go to the workshop, and in such a beautiful country. You exude the essence of Kawandi: gentle, thoughtful and slow (in the good way). I just subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to exploring your videos. Can't wait to see more of your creations. (my hands are sliding around on the laptop keyboard as I still have some fabric pieces from when I was stitching earlier). LOL.
    I was so impressed by the talents of the Siddi women whom Margaret went to visit (she was about 80 at the time) to learn the technique. Cheers from Minnesota, Fern

      The interview of Margaret Fabrizio by Joe Cunningham popped into my news feed ~4 days ago. I was fascinated by her journey to India to learn this craft as I have been to Karnactica and I know how difficult it is to travel in India. Thank you for your video. I now have a new obsession. I live on the North Island. I wish that we had workshops like this in Whangārei. 😊
