A few years ago we put an offer in on a house that was accepted, but it was contingent upon the owners finding a new place to live. After almost a year and a half of waiting we finally backed out. We figured if it was meant to be it would have happened but considering how long it was taking it just wasn't meant to be. Like you said, I kind of feel like that's the best attitude you can have. If it's meant to be it'll be!

@@patreich8690 Yeah, we were happy with the house we were in, and the one that was for sale, was almost perfect, so we held out hope that the owners would be able to find a place to move, and we told them we were in no rush! But after a year and a half, we were tired of having our life on hold, waiting for this house. So we made the decision to stay in our house and installed a pool!

Oh no..I’m so sorry that your offer was rejected Jamie! It really was a beautiful place, but I know you will find the place you and Sherpa are meant to be. House hunting is one of the most stressful things to go through. I’m sending a lot of positive energy for both of you..hang in there. As I told you before, I appreciate more than you realize that you take us on your adventures. My legs are getting weaker and my back is so painful that a wheelchair will be soon necessary. @sandy K ... I'm just putting this out their, have you tried alternative medicine treatments? main for the pain & discomfort? I'm referring to Medical cannabis/THC/others... all it requires is a licence (apply) to get it prescribed or buy it from vendor or ship it from abroad under the EU treaty (higher strength - Spain etc). I have few friends that have gone down this route throwing out big pharma drugs for once or twice ingestion daily & they turned their lives around rolling back the years going back to full time work & normal life happily. Some once formerly children with issues & now no issues growing up normally. After all is natural medicine used for 1000's of years!
It something that been legal for over 4 yrs & still the government (purposely) is slow to fully use why big phama! ...Their profits. I'd look into it if I was you before things get worse.

I am surprised people are questioning you going out on holidays, it does not take a genius to realize that without you going to these other cities or towns, we could not get the videos you filmed for us; nevermind those people Jamie, you are doing a good job and travelling during the winter time given the prices during the summer, makes perfect sense. Massively excited for you to be in the position to be making initial offers. Sorry you were 30k short. But as you said it had it's downsides regarding an upstairs. Sucks you lose out on the epic garage though. It's great you're zeroing in on an the area you want to live in.

Thanks for taking me on so many holiday's truly appreciate it. Courage Jamie and Sherpie. Think of it as practice for the offer on the eventual approved house. The not to be house was second best. Glad you gave Big Red back, I’m hoping to get my Red Jeep back today, it was being repaired after I was sideswiped by a bus. Luckily my friend & I were ok , only front quarter panel was damaged.

Jamie, next time you make your stew, try this (I promise you it's worth the slightly added effort):
▪Have a big bowl ready one the side.
▪Put a tiny bit of olive oil in bottom of the pan that you intend on cooking your stew in, letting it heat up to a medium high heat.
▪Put your onions in and cook them a bit (until they start to brown)5 to 10 minutes.
▪Add your carrots and leeks and give them about 5 minutes in with the onions. The carrots should get a few brown bits.
▪Scoop everything out of the pan into the bowl. *DON'T rinse the pan.* It should be sizzling hot.
▪Season your raw beef cubes with some salt and pepper.
▪Put your beef cubes in the same pan and brown all sides.
▪Then scoop the beef cubes out and add to bowl of veg. You should have some nice cooked on bits on the bottom of the pan.
🔴 NOW comes the secret sauce, so to speak.
▪Pour your beef stock into the pan and bring it to a boil while scraping the brown bits on the bottom of the pan with a spatula. Basically you are deglazing the pan. What you are actually doing is adding all the caramelized onion and carrot and seared beef flavor to the beef stock in a concentrated way. Adds loads of flavor and gets rid of all the crusty bits at the same time. It's a win/win!
▪Chuck some herbs in ( I like a bit of rosemary and thyme). Fresh is great but dried will do.
▪Once you've done with that, pop the meat veg and then your potato chunks into the broth. If you want to really step up your game, deglaze your pan with about a cup of red wine (or a good flavorful ale, if that's your preference) and then add your beef stock. The alcohol cooks off, so no worries that you'll get tipsy! It's the flavor you want anyway. Then stew away until your meat and veg reach the tenderness you desire. I'm lazy. I put mine in an oven proof lidded pan and cook it in a low oven and let it cook over a few hours. Cheers, buddy!

I’ve been watching Gone to the Snow Dogs for years. I’m in the same state they are. They come up here in the summer. Good puppies. House hunting is a pain. If you don’t want to sleep upstairs, then go for a different house. You’re seeing what you don’t want which is just as valuable.❤

The same thing happened to us. We really liked a home which we though was 'perfect' but were rejected. In the end it worked out all for the best as a few months later we found another place, much better and cheaper! It'll come....💗

An apartment that was supposed to come through for me here when I went in office to pay my deposit and rent I was told they had rented to someone else. My car was packed down and I had driven almost 2 hours ready to move into new place. I got another flat about 2 hours later and place I didn't get turned out to be too small for my piano and furniture with only shower and no bathtub. It was a blessing in disguise...

Remove the Screw Perch, it will act as a useful ledge for Preditors eg Woodpeckers etc.

@@SherpasDay if it makes you feel any better, the bubble never really bursts here, less so after the pandemic. But I've noticed that places are going for less than asking price. Maybe only 5-10,000 less, but less. Last year, when I was looking, the first okace I bid on was asking $379,000 and went for $433,000
Jamie and Sherpa: I am a firm believer in the fact God has written the plans for our lives and journeys. The waiting is the hard part. He has your desires and dreams ready for you. Just never forget the timing is on His terms. His alone. My son had 3 bids rejected on homes he wanted desperately. Was hard to convince him that he had to be patient till God gave the right one to him. On the fourth bid he got the home that had all the must have’s on his list. Right size, right area, etc. Be patient, trust in God’s wisdom for our lives and it will be yours in spades! He always delivers if we hold the faith. I’m praying for the moment for you and Sherpa to be soon. Respectfully. ❤. 🙏

Well things might be on the up at last. I know that when our poodle hurt his back, I didn't live in the UK but when I phoned my mom, she said that my dad was sleeping on the lounge suite with him. Monday is the vernal equinox and you have to open the window get a plant buy flowers and a crystal. Oh we love visiting the various abbeys and museums that you take us to. I think over our 40 years in South Africa we visited the Kruger Park over a hundred times. My favourite animal is a hyena. Ì miss travelling but I am 73 and my husband 78 so we have been in pensioner mode for the last 10 years since coming back. I love watching you and Sherpa and appreciate how much joy he brings you and vice versa. We don't go out in the cold weather so I sit and watch you and all the Kruger Park youtube videos that I can. Thanks so much 🙏🏼

Sorry about the house, Jamie and Sherpa, but the right one will come along - for sure! (Well, it won’t come along up the road to you; you will come along to it!) There’s always a ‘right’ one eventually, even if we have to make it right. About your “going away so much”: Well, we love it. You show us so many parts of England, Scotland and Wales that we feel as though we’re part of your adventures - and we love them all. You also take us to Nook and K’ey and family, and those visits are pure joy. You have a gift, Jamie, for talking to us as though we’re your friends, and we love listening to everything you say. As for you, Sherpa, you are a fountain of joy in our lives, and we hang upon your every word, especially when you tell Jamie to “THROW!” I feel that British Tourism should be paying both of you because you show us so very many beautiful, peaceful parts of Britain - all those gorgeous walks and countryside, and the spectacular scenery. I feed birds on my back porch...I have 6 large feeders...I go thru 80 pounds of bird seed a week...right now....once summer hits....I don't feed them as much....cause there's plenty to eat....I stand in my kitchen...and watch them eat..have around 50 to 100 birds....all at once....its crazy...love watching them... Much love ...to you and sherpa!!

If you are ever near Dumfries, you are more than welcome to pop in for a walk and lots of sniffs, dont ask me why but there is a huge mass of Malamutes in this tiny village in the middle of nowhere, I look out the back window and it is nothing but grass and a river, with people always walking their dogs, garunted to get jealous doggo eyes going too and from the shop with all the dogs I know and have too pet and spoil (pretty much always got dog treats in my pocket and those dogs are too cute not to spoil) granted I know the dogs names but not the owners most of the time, am I the only one that knows the dogs over the owners?

How could anyone pass up any opertunity to meet the greatest doggo daddy Jamie and the Lord Sherpa, plus lots of walking and beauty, the village is that small I can go into the back garden, look up and see soooo many stars it is a sight to behold, and I do it every night when my doggo wants a late night wee lol

The house looks lovely, but things happen for a reason. I wasn't ment to be. Some where will come up. Okehampton Chagford Ashburton, Bovey moterhampstead are all nice. Lots nice places on exmoor too. There always bodmin more as well
We've looked at 2 in Okehampton so far, it seems to be quite central to the people we normally visit

A little cooking tip, "sweat" your onions so they are just translucent in a tablespoon of oil on medium high heat and then add your garlic and cook it until it just starts to get some color, then add that to your pot. It'll give it WAY more flavor than just hucking it all into the pot together.
