We in Europe think very differently than Americans about this video. The weatherman deliberately drives into the Prius, because that is very clear. The weatherman also seems to have a thick neck (ego figure) and that mix causes the other person to give him a punch that he has earned. Here the legal system is a bit more logical, meaning there are virtually no innocent people in prison 😊
He wasn't nervous, he was angry but the other guy was quick to turn his head or else he would have been punched in the face harder. Good thing he was arrested but not till a week later. The cop should have looked at the dash cam footage right there then he would have arrested that guy in that moment.

The meteorologist did the right thing and I also wouldn't habe stopped because then I'd be putting the drivers behind me in danger. The best thing to do when someone cuts you off is to do what the meteorologist which is to slow down and veer off to the side.
I'm watching this on t.v. right now on the ID channel and the guy who got punched, Avery Tomasco, said on the Road Rage show, that he saw the guy in the Prius start to get in his lane and he's honking at that guy and he had to hit the breaks, if you watch his dash cam when he said he had to hit the brakes, you can see he's still going fast, too. You can tell he didn't slow down until the other driver hit his car on the right side bumper...He's following him but you can see the other guy's license plate, he should have just called the cops then or pull over somewhere else and call the cops and let them see the footage and then let them handle it. You never know if someone has a gun or will attack you even if it's not your fault. Some people will retaliate on you.
If it was me that got punched I would of defended myself. I suspect after I got through he wouldn't be punching anyone again after his hands get broken to pieces. That guy is an idiot for throwing the punch in the first place.
usually when you veer off the road to avoid an accident, you hit the brakes. Not speed up or steer back into the car before impact. Other dude deserves the warrant for arrest but fender bender is definitely avoidable by "TV meteorologist".

The dashcam has a wide angle lens, it will make it appear there's more room thannthere truly was. Also note, drivers will likely be focused on the road ahead, where we're focused on the offending car from the moment the video starts because of hindsight. So what seems to us like lots of time is much less for the driver when you subtract a second or two. 1. There was not enough room, it was on the Prius driver to find a spot to merge 2. If someone signals, move back or up IF it safe to do so, but not a requirement.
