Its a pity we didn't beat Sweden and Sweden couldn't hold our for the last 5 minutes against Belgium as that would have put Ireland in 2nd place in the group stages which would have had us up against Hungary in the round of 16 which I would have fancied our chances of getting getting it and then potentially a quarter final meeting with Wales which anything could have happened (oh yeah 13 comment 😂😂😂)
@@cathalsheehan9596 if Belgium lost to Italy, beat Ireland and drew with Sweden, they would be on 4 points, if Ireland would have held out the win against Sweden instead of Ciarán Clark scoring an own goal and lost to Belgium and beat Italy like they did they would be on 6 points, and Sweden losing 2 games and drawing Belgium, would leave them on 1 point which wouldnt do much it would have been 1st italy- 6 points 2nd Ireland- 6 points 3rd Belgium- 4 points 4th Sweden- 1 point
If we held on against france we would have played iceland in the quarters (who france hammered 5-2) and then germany in the semi who we drew 1-1 and then won 1-0 against in the qualifiers.

If Ireland would never finished higher than third. If Belgium drew Belgium would be 2nd on head to head and if Sweden won they would be ahead on GD.
