Well done Lawrence. I've had ... I wont bore...lots of serious sport cars. Simultaneously, I've kept one of these at holiday home in warm place. It's 13 year old I've had it 8 years, it's never let me down, it's my favourite car of all time. I thread this thing at speed on smooth very twisty roads in the mediterranean, It's brilliant. If you can't get to grips with the robotic auto and paddle shift..get another hobby, coz you ain't no good. Comparisons with the Elise are reasonable but this is better made and much more comfortable...it is something you can use every single day. Now I'm looking for it to be made over completely, because I love it and I've mistreated it but it just keep coming back, smiling, for more. Wonderful B road sportster.

You nailed it. Just the reasons I bought one 7 years ago and still have it.
Beauty is in the eye though.....

c perks I keep seeing owners say this, I've had mine for 3 years with no intentions of getting rid, it's never missed a beat and I still love it, yet another reason why I think they will go up in value

It's great to see a recent review of this car. I bought a coupe version 6 months ago and just wish I could find more roundabouts and windy roads to drive it on! Great value at only £3100 (11 years old in 2017). Its been very reliable so far. If you look to buy one, lift the carpet behind the seats and check for a puddle of water, or signs of significant damp.

Recently bought a remapped brabus coupe version puts out about 131 hp now... not back breaking but wow... such fun! Cornering is improved due to the wheel and suspension tweaks... just a shame about the leaking issues. Definitely a 'garaged until sunny' kind of vehicle. Great toy... at a reasonable price!

I would love to see them do another one as an EV now. To really show off how fun electric is when it’s in a car like this. I think it’d be so much fun.

Grüße nach England, greetings from Germany

I adore these little cars, I think they look stunning in Coupé form and the Brabus is a supercar killer in corners plus it's rather rare.

Great review, if the looks of the roadster puts anyone of there’s always the coupe version, a remap taking them up to just over 100 BHP makes all the difference, if you want a Smart roadster in your life when buying get it checked out before parting with the cash there probably one of the most reliable cars you can own, but there getting old now better to pay a bit more for a good one.

I really enjoyed this review. I did fancy one of these as a runaround/weekend car but I now live in Canada where these things are pretty much banned I think. I feel the Coupe has much, much better styling at the back. One day i might be able to take one for a spin.

Very fair, however you do get kind of used to the gearbox. You have to plan ahead a bit.
