Hi! Knowing that it's turbocharged, you can make some tuning adjustments, but the engine is tiny, so you will really affect its reliability. Steering is pretty stiff, it's difficult to steer with one hand for example. In some cases, it felt as if it didn't have any power steering at all. You'll get used to it, it's fine.
Sweet thanks for the head sup! You just gained a sub. Also was going to ask what is your opinion on these flash modules that change the firmware of the car to increase the gear change speed? these things smartmadness.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=181_197&product_id=1928
+Toshi Crowley i'm not an expert in Smart cars, but I will make some research. It shifts pretty slowly, I've noticed that. The Smart ForTwo also shifts slowly. The Brabus edition might be a bit faster. I'm also planning to review a Smart ForTwo. Glad to have you subscribed, I'll be adding general content on cars, so stay tuned! Cheers
A lot people (like me) prefer steering without power assistance for better feeling and comunication with the road, power steering is very artificial, but is hardto found, specially brabus versions :(
+llavero5 Hydraulic steering is laggy, in this Smart, steering is pretty heavy, so power steering doesn't help too much. Cars without power steering are super annoying to park. At greater speeds you don't need power steering, so you're right, you have better feedback. Unfortunately there are very few cars without power steering these days.
Hey, very nice review, I'm thinking about buying one, but you said that you wouldn't drive this car at speeds over 140 km/h, may you elaborate why? Since I live in Germany I quite enjoy driving at a reasonable speed on the Autobahn, usually I drive at 180-200 kmph, so 175 already seems a bit slow to me, let alone 140 kmph... Is there anything else I should look out for when buying one used?
Hi! Well, the car is small and it feels fragile and unstable at high speeds. It has a low center of gravity, but... why would you drive this car at 200km/h with a 0.7L engine? This car was made for driving around town or to cruise around. I believe this car isn't suitable for driving everyday on the Autobahn at 200km/h... plus it's not safe. Aaaand it has a top speed of around 190km/h, so you would probably kill the engine quick enough. I would look for a regular car with over 200hp to drive on the Autobahn. Just my opinion! Cheers!
99Vehicles TV thanks for the (quick) answer and I have to say, fair point about the driving around the city and this is mainly why this car appealed to me so much, because living and studying in a city it's the majority part of my driving and only 15% or so of it would be on unlimited Autobahn parts, but it just seems odd to me having a car that's slower than my parents Volvo`s although the impact on time lost should be minor. But do you think it's good enough as an everyday (and only car), although I could borrow a bigger car from my parents or a friend when I want to go on vacation? Is that usage scenario feasible in your opinion?
If you're cruising/driving just by yourself, it's great. You have a small fuel consumption and it's just fine. Well...when you can't really go on a vacation with this car, unless you go alone. You have 2 seats and 2 tiny trunks. You can barely fit anything in it. If you are traveling alone, you might fit some stuff on the passenger seat, but otherwise, no. If you have the money, buy an Audi TT. The driving position is pretty similar, it's faster, and the trunk is much bigger.
The accident was clearly the other person's fault but you should have passed that car with more caution, at least I always do that in case a cyclist, pedestrian or reckless driving is coming across .
I know, but I was paying attention to the camera, I was driving at exactly 45 km/h, the other car just started from standstill, I didn't even think that he would hit me. It was quite unexpected.
When a Nissan Micra pulled up beside us, my wife asked why a car called a Micra was towering over us? She wouldn't get into it after that as she said she was terrified of being in a mobile speedbump. Had to sell it. Never really missed it that much.It was ok, not sure why the enthusiasts are crazy about them. They really are tiny.
I'm 191cm and it's a close fit in mine, lots of leg room but my head rubs on the softtop braces. I'd like to see if a hardtop would buy me a little more space.

the steel wheels look dope
this car is the greatest waste of opportunity ever. Imagine what it would be like with a sporty short geared manual transmission.
@Rusticle 2.0 this is the first time in my life I see someone claim that manual gearboxes takes the fun away in driving a car.
@Rusticle 2.0 I bet you like electric cars a lot
@Rusticle 2.0 you're the one talkiing about dogdhit, you're the one attacking.
@Rusticle 2.0 It's not the transmission's fault that your brain can't handle one extra pedal
@Rusticle 2.0 lol who's attacking?
How tall are you? Wanna get a sense of scale of how big it is.
Which is the highest speed for smart roadster?
Nice video man! Is it possible to enhance the performance of the stock roadster? Is the steering really that bad?

I have a 452 roadster coupe. I am near Stuttgart. Where are you living? I am interested about the remap to 117(!!!)bhp.
