This opening was truly amazing. Everyone's already pointed out Jackson Wang's spectacular performance but man, I have to give props to Lil Nas X as well. Dude has overcome so much from all the negative attention he gets and has proven that he isn't just a one-hit wonder wth Old Town Road. Hate him or love him he's here and I respect that.
yyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssss
And he's consistent too. That's a real mark of talent. Anyone can one hit wonder, but to consistently deliver fun, interesting songs with their own feel... he's definitely got real talent.
Will be honest with you even tho I will always think this song doesn’t hit as hard as most other world songs with the hype and the thrill of final tournaments it’s still really good and well done
@@ukraineakshan946 personally i think the song fits well with worlds 22 after the outcome with DRX the underdog winning

The opening act and Jackson Wang's performance right off the bat was insane and sent chills down my spine.
Everyone killed their performances especially Jackson Wang! He set the stage on fire at the opening and I'm amazed! ⚔️⚔️
G DRAGON KING ,
Jackson Wang is a truly incredible experience.
The Call was a great choice to open the ceremony, it gives the chance to show all the history and weight of the competition
And then Jackson just delivered one of the best performances in LoL history
definitely not one of the best. it was good but meh for riot standards
@@defectivepikachu4582 well if u look at lil nas as the counter part. Then yes one of the very best xD like mate the dances were miles apart :)
@@defectivepikachu4582 considering that more than half of Riot ceremonies performances are singer standing still and letting the tech team work their magic (which is perfectly fine, 2018 and 2019 ceremonies are my favorites), having an artist dancing, singing and delivering a good performance with a whole different ambiance on stage is what I would qualify in my book as one of the best performances in LoL ceremonies
But I can understand if it's not your cup of tea
@@defectivepikachu4582 People have selective memories. 2021 was good but ruined by covid. 2020 had nothing to offer and was generally considered underwhelming. 2019 had the amazing holoscreen tech that they replicated here. 2018's Rise was sung off tune. 2017 had a cool dragon, but main singer had a hard time hitting those high notes on a public stage.
@@Cruxispal 2018 had kda and in 2017 it wasnt that he couldnt hit the notes that he already hit before in the song that he made, his mic just wasnt loud enough and was being drowned out
not as grand as the elder dragon one or the moving platform of 2018 but the interactions with the champions and the singers/dancers were pretty good. i liked them
u truly are dry
It was ok
Well at least it was better than last year (was it last year?) With the whole pandemic Galio - KDA disaster
@@GReyn last year was the awesome arcane event, the weird cgi was the 2020 one
@@uns33nbois81 oh yeah my bad.. i meant that one.. that was probably the worst world event..
I feel Worlds 2022 opening was more appealing to watch for both viewers at home and live than this year's opening. Riot should use more this technology than AR/CGI
Honestly hands down 2019 was probably the best of the openings because it used its AR/CGI well, Riot keeps misusing it by making AR/CGI perform the whole performance take a look at the catastrophe of the 2020 opening, but the 2019 opening used it as an effect to amplify aspects of the performance in a way thats impactful and gone fast enough for the audience to remain in awe before they notice any issues in the effect.
@cempur7599 day late comment but 2019 and 2022 used a projection onto a see through mesh. The mesh would catch the projections making a hologram effect. I prefer this over the AR stuff cause even the live audience can see them. Also it blends better with the performances it was used in.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought this year's was not as good.
only the first 5 mins of 2022 were better than 2023.
i agree, 2023 opening was not great
I am blown away by Star Walkin'. I heard it once and that was it for me: I adore it! HUGE props to Lil Nas X for this absolute banger, and that's without even mentioning his incredible stage presence and knack for subverting expectations! Him as Lux is amazing!!!
Yep! Loved it...!!! ♥♥♥
Dude is extremely talented, and yeah... he owns a stage when he's on it. there are very few game companies that put this much love back into the community.
Sameee since the first time I heard it
If you can get a tix to a Jackson Wang concert you should cos dude has the most insane storytelling and choreography. So, this is how legends are made!
I just got into his songs a few months ago and I’d say it’s very suited to my taste. I’m very picky when it comes to listening to songs and me liking a song says a lot about the artist.

G DRAGON KING ...
love how every year riot has more and more interactions with their champions at worlds and in their videos. it really brings their characters to life. and considering our role in the lore, it makes it better.
What is our role in the lore? Sorry for my bad english grammar by the way?
@@andrjsjan4231 Not sure, but we are the creators/summoners of the champions in League. In the old lore the player also got called a summoner. I dont know if the purpose of that is already known or not, I think the whole summoner idea was scrapped or is not getting used anymore.
@@Lyu-Phy That's not canon anymore
@@andrjsjan4231 there is none. Riot scrapped it all. Reason for the new trophy
@@shoxcodes Actually, the biggest reason for the new trophy is that the original Summoner's Cup weighed 70-freaking-pounds (32 kg). For comparison, the NHL's Stanley Cup is 34.5 lbs (16 kg) and the collegiate American football's Heisman Trophy weighs 45 lbs (20 kg) - trophies expected to be hoisted high by physical athletes. Riot has mentioned it was a mistake making it so heavy, as many players struggled to handle it on stage with grace.

I wasn't a fan of Star Walkin as a worlds anthem but now we're on the other side of the tournament, I don't think this song could capture the essence of Worlds 2022 any more perfectly.
True, i really liked how this worlds ended because it fits Star Walkin. Although it's also true that if you listen to it without this context it doesn't really sound as a world's anthem haha

Jackson Wang literally ate up the whole stage. Look at the amount of cheers at Chase Centre when he performed. It is just marvellous!!
Jackson's performance at the opening ceremony is insanely good! I love the choreography between him and the dancers, and the digital effects too. This is an amazing cornucopia of visuals and sound.
This outstanding performance made him the star of the show. In my perspective, he carried the opening ceremony. 🔥🔥
the amount of effort and money riot puts into these performances is why I love them as a company. They bring so much hype to the game, it's sad that most people dont see this stuff.
They reinvest their profits back into the game than just cash out
@@noproblematallmate um.. ok..?
Some how the theme and lyrics in the Anthem "Starwalkin" seem so fitting with DRX winning it all as absolute under dawgs. "dont ever say its over if im still breathing"
Man using THE CALL as an opener really hit hard. i always wanted it to be in worlds and yeah its epic
i think watching the 2023 ceremony than this just shows how much stage presence lil nas x has lol his stage was so much more hype
They finally came back after the pandemic, love to see it.
Jackson deserved a louder reaction to his performance. Understandable that some people didn't know him, some don't like kpop, some don't like him as a person, but he always makes such nice and very artistic performances and this was no the exception. Everyone did great here! The dancers worked hard too.
I think that the lack of reaction is due to the song being very new :) fans had only a few days to get familiar with it. It's not like the Call or Star Walkin that are already very well known.

The voice is so modified in post that when they playback it genuinely loses all passion and just sounds like they hit play. now he is just pretending to sing the song. We want to hear the imperfections and the singers voice POP in the mix. Starwalkin isn't hype enough to just hit play
I love the way Riot set up the gap between the opening ceremony and the games before people get too far from calling it a game company that thrives on music and short animation videos. Congrats to DRX but both of the teams delivered. Huge respect from an LPL fanboy.

Star Walkin' feels like a Worlds' song to me, no idea why it wasn't perceived like that by so many people when we have a lot of similar genres of music in there. I think it fits better than a lot of what we usually get.
It's because of the pattern from the other songs, it's different. I like Star Walkin, but i too thought it was kinda weird, like it didn't hype me up... But now, with DRX winning it fits so well
