@Bb King There are 3Br 3Ba houses on a ~9000 sqft lot available for ~$700k in the same city. Many 4Br houses in 30-min driving distance are under $650k. This house is smaller than those houses and won't sell for more than $700k. Of course, Mr Buffett being the owner & ex-resident may add some art value to it. But if someone else owned that exact house, it wouldn't sell for a buck more than $700k. Much less in the current scenario.

Which, in a weird way, made me realize that I didn’t want those things in the first place. I just wanted them because at the time they were unattainable. I instead focused my time on a hobby I liked when I was in high school. I get a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from it. The money just frees me up to the other things. To explore. Nothing wrong with "showing off" I mean if you can afford a big house, why not? Lots of perks having one. You can have your own gym, Library, game room, pool, movie theater and so on in the house. Depends if you want that or not.
And if they're interested in cars and have the money, how is buying a nice car "showing off?" How is any of it showing off? They worked hard for their money and can buy whatever they want with it.

With this said, it's better to take into consideration your own situation before selling your business. Profits vary and present success may only be temporary.

The South comes up with awful government ideas that ruin things for everyone. The weather is nice enough that rich fools put up with it while the poor are harmed by the ideas of the wealthy created to "help" them. They just make sure their expenses stay relatively low compared to their income so that they have enough money left for investing etc... No millionaire spends likes poor dude living on minimum wage, they just don’t go over their means. Don't tell me you didn't know about this alright already. It can also be put in a special trust, before being given away, with no time limit. If he ever needs it because his finances go down, he can take it back and never repay the taxes discounted when he first made the donation.
