Krak is an amazing site, my young brother went to it years ago. Fortunately it does not appear to have been damaged during the last war in Syria. Footage is the usual high quality and a good look at the site in detail. 👀😎👍

Amazing that a fortress like this could be captured. May be lack of water inside? It seems a stronghold like that should not fall. Stands the time, too, unlike the creations of modern architects. Visited this castle. An American couple followed me on the climb upto the castle. One said 'Gee what a neat castle but why didn't they build it nearer the parking lot'
Beautiful site. The middle east is full of wonders and history. From the natives to the greeks, romans, cursaders, ottomons, french, british. So much history. If people can move forward places like this could dominate the travel world.

It was built before the crusaders but became the base of the Hospitalers, The Templers were based in Juresalem then Acre and Safad in Palastine.
