A Daughter of the Desert (Chronicles of the Desert)

- We often hear less about the women of the desert in early Christianity, but that's not to say that they do not exist. One such figure is Syncletica of Palestine, an almost anonymous figure whose name means "nobleman's daughter." She came from a wealthy family and, upon a visit to the Holy Land, decided to give up her temporal wealth in order to become rich in God. She is not to be confused with the more well-known Amma Syncletica of Alexandria, but her story is no less relevant. For it shows both the effort that such Christians would go to quench their thirst for Christ and also how divisions such as gender, race and social status matter less and less as one draws closer to God.

God gave me the Jesus Prayer to calm my nerves dusting evening meditation, and to crush the sense of impending doom I have upon rising! And by the grace of God and the written word of His Saints, I no longer pass out every night from heroin, pills, and whiskey! God rescued me from death by overdose, and I'm not sure how to thank Him!? It wasn't once but several times that I "died" but never gave up the ghost! Someone was praying hard for me, and I can only pay it forward. Thank God for life in 2021, where the inmates are running the asylum. It seems grim but it's not. Better days ahead, through the love of the Most Holy Theotokos and her son, Jesus.
Our stories are very similar. Along side the Jesus prayer, the rosary was added to my disciple. Clean over 2 years now.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
To purify the heart, a person should receive communion often. Watchfulness of sinful thoughts, and Jesus prayer (hesycia).
