keep pressing forward and i have good faith the next rip will be much better fishing has been tough from a kayak here in southwest Michigan too the winds is always howling. tight lines out there and good luck hope your car is doing better too
You need a trailer girl !!! I dont know what is more impressive 20mph wind or the hike back to the car !! Your the coolest girl on a Yak, I have 2 daughters and a grand daughter, had them all fishing just out of diapers, oldest is 45 now and the fishing spirit is still in her. I have an Old Town 136 Autopilot, a trailer was the best thing that happened !!! Rock on!!
Good job just toughing it out. Only thing I can catch em on early spring is White 1/2 oz big Colorado blade spinnerbait with craw or shad trailer lifting to spin the blade and dropping to get the blade to helicopter down. Jerkbait very slow I use sticky lead dots to make sure it stays put when long paused and not floating up. And Jig n craw trailer dragged slowly and pausing. Awesome VID!!!
Good video Melissa ! I'm doing tournaments with northeast Ohio kayak anglers , and my go to is a finesse spinnerbait 3/8 oz in shad pattern along shoreline structure , definitely tough this time a year
I'm jealous you get to fish KANEO! I love that trail and those lakes up there but I just can't fit it in this year with my 2 other local trails (and about a 4-hour drive to every tournament on their schedule for me!). But Nimisila is the lake that taught me about spinnerbaits (well the lake and Kevin Sams!).
@@GirlGoneFishing Im definitely looking forward to fishing it this year ! I'm so sorry about your car I hope you got it taken care of! I'm old school lol , no electronics , using a paddle style yak but love fishing and looking forward to the competition ! Hope at one point to run into you and meet you ! Love your channel and content!
I'll give you props for sticking it out in that wind... I wouldn't have. Nice video as always, and I can't wait to watch your next one. Until then...tight lines my friend!
Maybe you're overthinking a little .. just hearing all the strategies you used sounded like a lot. Just a thought. Maybe everyone is using all those techniques! Great attitude..!
If I had more confidence in one technique I could stick with it, even one nibble on something would give me a clue for the pattern, but when I get nothing I just don’t know what to do other than keep throwing everything at every different spot and hoping a fish helps tell me what they want! No idea what I’m really supposed to be doing out there! 🤣
Those were some tough conditions. At least you got out there - that means fishing season is here! Better days ahead. And sorry about your car - hope you get back on the road quickly.
@@GirlGoneFishing the Berkly Stunna 112+1 dives like 8 ft I believe. So I am able to work it shallow or deeper. Don't worry you will crush the next tourney.
Thanks! But I'm so tired of saying, "well, no fish again". Even a bluegill would be exciting! But since this was a tough day for the majority of the anglers I don't feel so bad. I'm looking forward to the next one!
Nice video! That wind looks tough!I caught one 11 inch at East Fork. I had to miss this one and I’ll miss the next one due to hip surgery but I’m ready to get back out there!
Please don’t give up don’t stop trying there are only a handful of female anglers that I watch. I want to see more everyday grow in the community in the world of bass fishing I see is a bunch of dudes and for young women who want to learn about fishing you rising female stars is their only thing they can look up to. Sorry about your luck in the water just remember safety first always, and a bad day of fishing is much better than a good day at work lol. Thank you for sharing take care and God bless. ❤❤❤❤
Well, at LEAST you aren't in a cast from some dreadful skiing accident. Early season AND boat controlcin strong wind are major challenges for many fisher persons. Don't be (too) discouraged. Things will turn around!!!
I mean, if you wanted to start a pedal exercise class you could stick people on pedal kayaks on that lake and turn the wind up! It could be worth a lot of money!
I was really nervous going into the day because I really didn't want to tip, but I was just amazed at how the Lynx didn't care about the waves and was just as rock solid as ever.
Melissa I'm sorry your Kayak tipped over in the beginning. 😒 I fully know what that's like. The wind was blowing so hard that I could hardly hear your voice! It looked like it got pretty choppy in spots too. I'm glad your Hobie makes you comfortable now in the wind and waves! I fish and crab Long Island Sound and the Tidal creeks here in CT and was doubting I was going to make it a few times. Yikes! 😬 I love your nice and relaxing channel and I hope to see you start winning some tournaments this summer. Here's some lucky fish for you! 🐟🐟🐟🐟
You should have been using a swimbait that day

Wow, what a day. Don't be defeated, you're amazing. Looks like a lot of fishermen were struggling out there in the waves. I love your content.
Thank you so much!
That wind was crazy!
And of course beautiful weather before and after the tournament day! 🤣
Rough start but it can only get better from here. Blanked on my opening tournament this year as well. Ce la vie!
We are going to crush it in our next tournaments!
You always have a great positive attitude. Best of luck for the season and on getting your your car fixed
Thank you! The universe has been challenging me recently, but life is good and more adventure awaits! ☀️

Thanks! The next one will have so many fish! 🎣🐠
Brutal 1st day .
I'll be begging for this wind when it is the middle of summer and 99% humidity with mosquitos!

Thanks! I really need to just get a new (used) one, they are just so expensive!
Cooler waters I love throwing jerkbaits. Heck I love jerkbaits no matter the temps really. Berkly Stunna 112+1 and you are good to go.
I did try a soft plastic jerkbait whenever I found a sheltered shallow flat.

That's Why they call it Fishing and Not Catching. Keep up the Positive attitude, it will pay off. Good Luck on the season.
This fishing thing is frustrating, I think I’m going to switch over to catching from now on! 😎

Hahaha yes good point, I escaped ski season mostly unscathed! Now just need to win a fishing tournament!
Ugh, tough day. Hope your car is an easy fix.
They are thinking something electrical. Scary.
That was some wind you put in a funny spot trying to figure out where that is
It is a little beach down Lakeview Trail at the marina parking lot.
Do you ever fish a Carolina Rig ?
I tried it once and didn't like moving that slow. I'll probably come around to it as I settle down on the power fishing.
CJ Brown is NOT a friendly lake when the wind blows! And that's about all the time in Ohio in April.
I mean, if you wanted to start a pedal exercise class you could stick people on pedal kayaks on that lake and turn the wind up! It could be worth a lot of money!
dead sticking a jig or creature bait works for me or a jerk bait with long pause
That wind is atrocious! Is so dang hard to fish properly when you are being manhandled by the wind.
I was really nervous going into the day because I really didn't want to tip, but I was just amazed at how the Lynx didn't care about the waves and was just as rock solid as ever.
Is it ever NOT windy in ohio?
🤣 Sure, all of the days I have to work and can't fish! Those days are gorgeous! 🤣
