@@komu6389 ye he’s the ultimate hope, but I thought both he and Nagito got in via the lucky draw, making them both the ultimate lucky student and that he only gains the title “ultimate hope” after he gives everyone a pep talk and Kyoto states that she feels he’s the hope the rest of the world needs.

@@rainy1875 Well I think it's supposed to be Mokoto's mental image of what could happen if he chooses to shift towards her being the killer, and since he obviously doesn't know about alter ego she doesn't show up.
(Or at least that's what I think I don't know if it's right)
@@_radish. But what confuses me is why alter ego didn't show up in kyoko's execution but she did in makoto's execution. If the execution carried on either way it would have a huge impact on the storyline as shown in Kyoko's execution.
@@rainy1875 Yeah it doesn't really make sense if it isn't makoto just exploring what would happen if he shifts towards her being the killer. I do like thinking of the storyline if makoto really was executed though, but it probably wouldn't be a good one.

Toby Roberts It takes a bit to realize but more then half the plot wouldn’t be what it is without Alter Ego, it wouldn’t be without Chihiro and what they did. You never realize it until you look back on these things.

What I love the most about this scene is Makoto's body language. His breathing steadily increases in rate, and he glares up at Monokuma. His face begins to discolor from fear, and he has the expression of "not ready to die" but also "understands death can't be avoided." It really drives home the intensity of this scene.

In most Danganronpa executions it has the same song. But this execution actually has a different song and I like that. Celeste's execution is also different!
This is THE best execution in all of Danganronpa.
The other ones have their own charm for being totally absurd and/or heartbreaking but this one is different: you don't expect the main character to just die here, especially because he didn't commit murder nor did he attempt it. Whereas you know exactly that those involved in an execution will always die, here you start clenching and hope that some miracle is gonna save innocent Makoto. The music really fits perfectly together with the sound of the smashing behind makoto

I guess before the end of the trial he was trying to get Kyoko but at the end the only he could execute was Makoto so he went for it

This is one of the few moments when we see Makoto's luck at work. Unlike Nagito he never abuses or weaponizes it, so it's easy to forget he's also lucky.
I feel horrible about this execution, both versions because that must be so damn nerve wracking and I can picture myself there and eughhhh. Poor dude

At first he doesn't seem that scared because he has hope and he trustes that Kirigiri would help him which is why he didn't panic at first. The closer he gets he starts feeling unsure of either Kirigiri would come help him which is why I too love this scene.

Actually both soundtracks are the same song, the soundtrack in Kyoko's execution is a remixed version of the soundtrack you hear in this.
