    What do you think of the Credor Phoenix GCPB997? Would you get this instead of a modern Seiko? Instead of a Speedmaster Racing or a Tag Heuer Carrera? Do you think this Seiko Credor carries the same philosophy & values that Credor represents today? Let me know what you think in the comments section.

    Great video! Very informative, thank you. I recently purchased one from Japan in excellent condition with box and papers. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. The craftsmanship and quality is at another level and it’s for sure the best value piece in my entire collection. I went by a Grand Seiko boutique recently to check out the seasons- cherry blossom, winter storm, etc and showed the SA my Phoenix. He asked if he could take a picture to share with Joe Kirk. Like you said, it’s a watch for folks that know. I would not compare this to a Tag Chrono which I own. This is at a higher level by leaps and bounds. The craftsmanship still blows me away

      Fantastic! I'm so glad to hear that in the metal it lives up to expectations! I still haven't had the chance to get hands on with one of these but from the few people that I've interacted with that have it's been nothing but praise. Hope you enjoy yours for years to come and thanks for watching and commenting :)

    This Credor Phoenix is on top of my list. To find a good pre-owned one with all the documents is not easy to find. But one day, I'll find it. I have time. No hurry.
    I gave my wife a Credor about a year ago. She adores it.
    Owning quite a few vintage Seiko watches, amongst them a KS5626 and GS6146-8050, they have never let me down. Even after 50 years or more, they just keep running.
    So I can't help but give a deep bow to the designers, creators and the people who assemble these watches. Chapeaux

    Great Presentation. Very Informative. I believe it still competes with today's models. The rarity adds to the value. Won't be inexpensive for long.

      My pleasure, I learned a lot while making this video - to be honest I knew next to nothing about Credor before doing the research to put this video together. It's a brand that doesn't have a lot of info online, but the fact that its so revered despite that speaks to just how well made their watches are - they don't need to publish online to push their reputation. It's really something else, and hopefully I can continue to learn & share more about Credor in the future too :)

      Hahah do you think I'd get anything Seiko/GS/Credor and wouldn't tell you right away?! Soon as there's anything Japanese in my collection you'll be the first to know (and most likely you'll know well before I get it since I'll probably be badgering you with questions about it until i pull the trigger hehe)

    Great video about a watch that deserves way more attention by the watch community. I‘ve been eying one for a couple of months now but having the BB Chrono (that you also had if I remember correctly) has kept me away from pulling the trigger (until now🤣). Keep up the great work!

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      Hehehe it'd be interesting to see if it ends up swaying you to pull the trigger. Would you be thinking of replacing the BB Chrono or getting this along side it?
      I do sometimes miss my BB Chrono, it was a great watch and such a nice chronograph feel, but in the end I just wasn't wearing it enough because of the thickness & the screw down pushers so had to let it go. How long have you had your BB Chrono for?

    • @watchyouwant1617
      @watchyouwant1617 3 года назад

      @@ShahLusso I have the BB Chrono for exactly one year now and sold the Speedy for it. The speedy simply bored me and even though it’s a beautiful and quiet versatile watch I realized, that I only had it „to have it“. The BB Chrono is a potential „sleeper“ in my eyes, because it’s not that popular but has awesome specs and is in my eyes the „G-Shock Daytona“: racing Chrono but way more substantial. I agree that it would be great, if the Chrono was just a little bit slimmer. I just bought the Burgundy ETA-BB with the flat caseback and it wears way flatter on the wrist.
      Since I already have two Chronos I would probably sell one in order to add the Credor (ok, this argument is quite stupid because I also have four divers😂🤣).

    One of the most undervalued chronographs. Especially considering Seiko sells a lesser quality chronograph nowadays for 2500 euro... The Credor Pheonix and Pacifique offer amazing value and can be picked up around 1500 to 2000 euro

      Thanks so much! It's always great getting that validation from an actual owner of the watches I speak about - especially in cases like this where I don't even have the watch in my hand, but hopefully some day I get the opportunity to take some proper footage & shots of one to highlight how good this watch is :)

  • @kostasp1137

    Thank you for sharing and for all the very interesting and excellently presented information. I don’t know much about credor, never held or seen one in the flesh. I knew though that the tag Heuer was based on a seiko movement, didn’t know that was used in this credor chrono. Cool stuff

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it was really interesting seeing how this connected the dots between the Tag Heuer 1887 and Seiko's 6S calibre, it really is amazing the stories you can find behind otherwise unassuming watches.
      As for Credor as a brand, it's one of those brands that's genuniely so rare and hard to find information on, but when you see the watches or hear people's experience with them its nothing short of amazement! I'd kill to be able to do a hands on review with one, hopefully sometime soon :)

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      I've heard & read nothing but good things about it, and its crazy how little information there is out there on it - its a brand that even in 2021 seems to get by almost completely from (positive) word of mouth, which in itself speaks volumes on how good its watches must be

    These days, THIS is the real Japanese answer to Patek and Lange. I had the good fortune to handle once years ago and they are truly special.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад +2

      Without a doubt, Grand Seiko is amazing and offers an insane amount of craftsmanship for the money, but their brand philosophy isn't geared at taking on the Pateks & Langes of the market - meanwhile Credor today is up there in those conversations providing watches that rival and possibly even surpass the greats from Swizerland & Germany.
      It's crazy to think that they've earned a reputation worldwide without even being available worldwide. I think that speaks volumes as to the quality of Credor.

    As you said, Credor more focuses on Japanese aesthetics, especially some special artistic decorative skills. They aren't always more higher-end than current GS, just different style.
    BTW, Eichi II is damn great. One of the best dress watches in the market in my opinion.
