According to a South African magazine called "NAG Magazine", Kevin Conroy - the actor who voiced Batman in Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Batman: The Animated Series among others - will not be returning to voice the Dark Knight in Batman: Arkham Origins.
WB Montreal seems to have decided to recast a new voice talent which reflects a younger Batman in the game.
It is important to note that this statement comes only from a cover story published by a local magazine in South Africa, and in an interview with Ben Mattes, Senior Producer at WB Games Montreal, the name of Kevin Conroy is not mentioned. Mattes just confirms that "there are some voices who have returned, and then there are some instances where we choice different actors".
This means that the absence of Kevin Conroy could be just an "unsafe" assumption made by the magazine, so take it all with a grain of salt until we know more.
But assuming the information is accurate, who would you like to hear as the voice of Batman in Arkham Origins?
Here are some of the actors who gave their voice to Batman in the past:
Kevin Conroy
Bruce Greenwood
Rino Romano
Diedrich Bader
Ben McKenzie
Troy Baker

Kevin Conroy is returning for arkham knight.
Kevin Conroy must voice all the batman games
He is just too freaking awesome
Kevin Conroy will forever be remembered
Peter Weller is another brilliant Batman voice. Just listening to him say "He's young, he'll walk again" gives me chills!
R.I.P Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne/Batman 1955-2022
I like how scary Mckenzie sounds (like he's actually trying to terrify people/criminals) which might work well for Origins.
I think Kevin Conroy playing an inexperienced Batman would be really interesting to see; it could be the Animated Series/Mask of the Phantasm all over again, but if it's not the case, my pick out of those listed here would be Rino Romano, with Bruce Greenwood as a second pick.
Went to Comic Con Dallas this weekend, Conroy confirmed that he WILL be doing the voice in Origins! Good day for everybody!
I really like Romano's voice, but I think he fits a more cartoonish Batman; one that's not necessarily going to be portrayed in the game. I Think Greenwood's voice will fit a younger Batman perfectly :)
If they're going for a younger Batman then I don't see how it can hurt to get maybe a younger sounding voice? At least it'll make the game seem a lot more fresh compared to the previous two!
Rino Romano would be the best fit for a young Batman voice based around the knowledge that it will grow into Conroy's Bats.
I just love Rino Romano's voice.. I think he's a good younger Batman
I commented that when Conroy seemingly confirmed that he was the voice of Batman in Arkham Origins. It turns out he was talking about the sequel to Arkham City that is currently being developed by rocksteady
Guys: I know this is a little off topic, but this may be interesting. On Rocksteady's website, they updated the home page a week ago saying that they are looking for a new writer "who has a passion for character-driven games." They also say to submit a CV (for anyone interested in the job) using any key character scene from Arkham City as an example.
"WHERESH VER TRIGGER?? WHERE ISH IT?!"
Whoever played him in The Batman would be the logical choice, since it would continue the trend of hiring Voice Actors from the animations and TB was also featured a younger Bruce.
Exactly! I agree with alot of people who have already said it, get Rino Romano if a younger sound is what is needed.
if not Kevin Conroy, they could trying getting David Hayter. Since he apparently won't be voicing Snake in MGS5, maybe he's free to voice the Batman.
I say Rino Rimano or Ben Mckenzie. They did say that they wanted Batman to sound younger, so I think these two would fit the bill.
Kevin Conroy, for good reason. In the Animated series, JL, JLU, Batman Beyond and etc, Conroy has changed his voice to sound younger or older. If he has done it before, he'll do it again.
I think Troy Baker would do well because he voiced Batman in Lego Batman 2 if you see his impression its similar to Kevin and he sounds a bit younger
Rino Ramano actually sounds exactly like a younger kevin conroy, wow, from what I see hes the best contender.
I am so happy that he returning on the fourth one. It makes more sense now since in Origins Batman is younger.
Considering Origins is a prequel with a younger batman, my vote is Romano. There's an immaturity to his voice that I think would work well.
Rino Romano could play a good role of the younger Batman. Did you that Rino Romano actually played the voice role of Spider-Man in the PlayStation 1 Spider-Man game and voiced him in the series Spider-Man Unlimited (The sequel to the 1994 Spider-Man cartoon). He actually the two greatest superheroes of all time, Batman and Spider-Man! :D
interesting fact is that roger craig smith used to be the voice actor of ezio auditore from assassins creed series
I love how you showed all the voices
Roger Craig Smith voiced Ezio, the new Sonic in Sonic Colors, and Sonic Generations, Thomas from Regular Show, and some guy from Resident Evil.
Either Rino Romano or the guy who voiced Batman in Batman of Shanghai short cartoon. He sounds like a young Kevin Conroy.
what part of younger batman dont you understand, Peter Weller was the oldest batman besides Kevin Conroy in Batman Beyond
true and robert craig smith is voiceing batman in origons so im even more exicted he did so well with ezio.
In the german version, Batman is voice acted by David Nathan, who is also the voice actor for Christian Bale. I played the original version, but I think it would be awesome if Bale did it.
i cant wait to see how the guy will voice him its gonna be good
Are you still alive?
I think he's good. His voice is scary. Like when he says "I know pain" or "Non of you are safe." I think he's worthy.
Troy Baker sounds pretty good. He sounds the youngest out of all of them. If WB is striving for a younger sounding Batman, I think he'd be the best candidate.
"Christian Bale (Just Kidding)"
HAHAHAHAHAHAH I'M DYING!
I'd like to hear, definitely, Bruce Greenwood as the voice of Batman: Arkham Origins.
I actually think that Rino Romano does sound the most like a younger version of Kevin's Batman. I think he would also suit a younger, more inexperianced Batman.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. Rino Romano's voice changes from Batman to Bruce Wayne so naturally (thank you, Kevin Conroy), and has that gravely undertone a Batman voice should have without sounding like a broken engine. We need more Rino Romano, and I think he should've been the voice of Batman in Arkham Origins.
Ben Mckenzie is Jim Gordon on Gotham TV Series!
What about the voice from Crisis on 2 Earths? he was good too. Though I'd prefer Conroy, either the 2 Earths guy or Mckenzie might be able to hold the game up.
If they were going to recast Batman, I'd want either Bruce Greenwood (whose voice is very similar to Kevin's) or Rino Romano.
if they have to change then i would say greenwood. but kevin is the iconic batman voice. it would be a shame to see him go.
I love the music 0:21 through 0:34
I never had to use the subtitles for Kevin's voice. I know it won't happen, but if Bale is cast, yeah switching subtitles on
the fact is WB have a golden egg called "The Nolan Trilogy" which objectively speaking was an astronomically successful movie franchise,so it doesn't matter that the authoritarian, calculating voice of The Batman which Kevin Conroy DEFINED is gonna be omitted because WB are going to implement dynamics and formulas from the Nolan Franchise because its cost effective and those of us who love Conroy are gonna have to attest to the Bale cookie-monster voice because it's prefered by the majority
if conroy isnt involved we dont know why if he chose not to be in it they may have just got an impersinator to do it but if not i'd like to see the Red Hood voice actor guy do it
I like to hear how Kevin Conroy and Jason O-mara can sound like Ben Affleck as batman
Rino Romano because it's a younger batman. also I liked that voice, it fit the show and the character.
Rino romano is a really good young batman. Odds are, though, is that if they're making this a young batman, they'll probably have new talent along with it.
ben mckenzie. kevin sounds fucking scary while ben sounds scary young and has an emotional sound to his voice that kinda makes you relate to him. kinda
you should see the Dark Knight Rises trailer in which kevin conroy does a voice over for every line that Christian Bale said.
If the rumor is true,( and i think it is) it better be Greenwood who did a fantastic job in under the Red Hood
The voice actor is Roger Craig Smith, the voices of Chris in Resident Evil and the third voice of Sonic The Hedgehog
I like Rino Romano and Ben McKenzie for a young batman but if Kevin Conroy is gone for good, then the batman we all know and love should be voiced by Bruce Greenwood
Troy Bader definitely OR!!!! William Baldwin, who voiced Batman in Justice League Crises on Two Earths. His is the only successfully smoky, yet educated tone to Batman's voice in my opinion
I wonder why Loren Lester isn't called back to voice Dick "Richard" Grayson/Robin/Nightwing.
If not Conroy, then Greenwood. His voice is pretty close to Conroy's and works effectively.
Kevin Conroy is my 1st and 2nd choice to voice Batman in any animated or video game project. 3rd choice would be Bruce Greenwood who I think did a great job in Under The Red Hood and Young Justice.
Bruce Greenwood definitely, I think he could pull off a younger Batman voice. However I also think Troy Baker may be able to get dark and gritty enough for Batman as he is a fantastic voice actor. Only time will tell who the real Batman of Arkham Origins will be.
"WHERES THE ANTIDOTE???"
I used to watch "The Batman" show when i was a kid, so i think Rino Romano would be amazing as Batman in Origins if Kevin wasn't there.
If it is a younger Bruce, then I think Ben McKenzie would be the perfect choice. His work as young Bruce in Year One was great, and perfect for that movie. Out of all the people in the vid, I think he would be the perfect choice.
Rino romano should do the voice, since he sounds like a younger version of batman
bruce greenwood, suits kevin conroys voice if they are going for a younger version of batman as they have very similar voices
Definitly Rino Romano. Kevin Conroy is the best, but if he's not returning, then Rino is the best for a young Batman. In the Batman, Bruce Wayne was the Bat for only three years. Romano rocks as a young Bats
Kevin Conroy is Batman! He is a great voice actor and can easily portray a younger Batman...like he did in Mask of the Phantasm.
I would like to have Kevin return, to me he is the voice of Batman, but if not him then I welcome Bruce Greenwood or Ben McKenzie as a young Batman
Chtistian Bale might be a good idea because in arkham origins batman is still not perfectly trained so he might still be looking for a voice that intimidates
To be honest I'm use to Kevin conroy because he starred in almost every show or Batman game he was in. In my opinion Kevin is the worlds greatest Batman actor.
I think Romano would be a good option for an early batman if they don't use Conroy
or ben cause since the game is in light of batman year one and ben voiced him in the movie it might work out and if rino voices him he will have to make his voice a little darker and deeper
supposedly the voice actor who voiced Ezio in Assassin's Creed (Roger Craig Smith) will portray Batman in Arkham Origins.
I still think Mark Hamill should play as the Joker still because even though most remember him as luke skywalker he still makes a kickass voice for Joker.
I really think Rino Romano would be a very good choice if Kevin Conroy did not return!
He said he was working on the next Arkham title. I think Roger Craig Smith does a fine job and its a refreshing take
Well judging by it says origins, I imagine it has to do with some things prior to Arkham Asylum and City, so I'd say Troy Baker since he sounds younger, or Bruce Greenwood (without the swearing and talk of killing others).
I think Troy Baker sounds like he would do a good job voice acting a younger version of Kevin Conroy's Batman
Or Ben McKenzie, I love what he did with the voice.
Troy baker he has had more experience voice acting for characters in Arkham city plus the fact sense this game is going to be a prequel Troy baker sounds younger then Bruce Greenwood
I could see Rino Romano as a younger Batman, but from twenty-five up, it's all Conroy.
you know i actually think that the lego versions of the dc universe could be sooo awesome have they made a game thats not based on Lego motifs/character models ! like if they made a Justice league heroes game like the one that came out in 2006 , but with the character designs/score/color schemes and concept from lego batman 2 game , itd be a solid game !!
I get that they want a younger voice, but Kevin Conroy could still play a younger Batman. He's already done it in some scenes from The Mask of the Phantasm. I don't think a new actor is necessary.
this can't be happening Kevin Conroy is the best making the voice of batman
I agree with you completely, but this is a prequel so it wouldn't surprise me if someone younger is chosen.
If no Kevin Conroy, Bruce Greenwood or Troy Baker I suppose....but i really really really really reall want Kevin Conroy to be the voice. His voice is perfect
It's announced that its Troy Baker which actually sounds pretty good.
though if the sequel to this if their is one it would be cool to have pete weller do the voice or have kevin conory does the voice it would be just bruce wayne from beyond
I think Rino Romano would be best for young Batman. Plus "The Batman" was what first got me into Batman when I was a kid so it would be cool to here him again. Although The Animated series is clearly a better show. Still it will be hard to adapt without Kevin Conroy if the info is true.
Greenwood is the only one who could satisfy the hordes and still do a decent job on the part. However, if they didn't tell Conroy to relinquish his role, in all likelihood, he's coming back.
No one has mentioned Peter Weller, I thought he was brilliant in The Dark Knight Returns.
What about Val Kilmer? He does a pretty good batman voice as well or Michael Keaton?
I think Rimo Romano would be the perfect choice for a young Batman.
Its sounds very young and inexperienced which is perfect because that's what the game is portraying. A young Batman, inexperienced and rusty but still strong and confident.
Here is who I think:
1. Kevin Conroy (PLEASE)
2. Bruce Greenwood (His voice is just as accurate as Kevin Conroy's)
3. Troy Baker (He would be my last choice...only due to his voice being quite deep. unless he changes it so its a little lighter)
3.
Will Friedle? He's a good actor, and did a great job with Terry, but I don't think his voice suits Bruce. I could be wrong, though.
Rino Romano or Ben Mckenzie cause their voice fit a lot for a young batman
I can't believe you totally forgot someone, and he has been in the games before too. Adam West!
Rino if the angle they're going for is a younger Batman! but Batman without Conroys voice behind him will be strangeeeeee!
Bruce Greenwood was also batman in young justice so I think he'd be a perfect fit for the role.
who needs kevin for origins? They're just saving his awesome voice for the sequel to arkham city of course
I think Jeremy Sisto, who plays Batman in Justice League New Frontier, would at least to me, be a great choice for this Batman.
