I'm a Brit and I don't think this was broadcast in the UK (well not in my lifetime anyway). My Dad had a STANDARD-8 (not Super-8 - older than that) projector and he had all the Cattanooga Cats songs on one Standard-8 film. I must have watched it 50x (as did my long-suffering junior school friends along with me). I absolutely LOVED it (especially the theme tune). Obviously I loved the other HB cartoons (which were broadcast) but this is a very special memory for me.

Premiered on ABC's Saturday Morning schedule on September 6,1969 until September 10,1971. Only 15 episodes were produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The 1969-1970 season were original episodes. The 1970-1971 season were repeats. Featured "Around the World in 79 Days" which was the animated version of the Jules Verne classic, with a group of teenagers traveling around the world. The others were "Moto Mouse and Auto Cat" which Hanna-Barbera took the characters of Tom and Jerry and gave them a complete late-60's makeover complete with groovy outfits and mod looks...basically using the same Tom and Jerry formula with both character chasing each other on groovy motorcycles.

So I’m gonna assume this Boppin cartoon’s music is the closest we’re gonna get to hearing what the songs for Scooby Doo’s original mystery solving band concept were gonna sound like. I know we have the Danny Jensen chase music that would eventually be produced for both Scooby Doo Where Are You S2 & Josie & The Pussycats, but I would like to imagine that the production of these Cattanooga Cats songs were holdovers from Scooby‘s band being dropped during the middle of it’s production. I can’t confirm if that REALLY happened or not but it’s funny to think about for me considering SD & CC both came out at the same year. XD
[Joe Barbara talking to executive Fred Silverman about Scooby Doo’s production development at CBS]
Joe Barbera: All right, Fred. So we got the music ready for this new mystery show you want because the kids play in a band. We contracted the upcoming mystery solver teens show’s music to a couple of nice folks. All we have to do now is start the stories and-
Fred Silverman: No Joe, no band!
    Joe Barbera: Huh?
Fred Silverman: Too similar to Filmation’s Archie show. I don’t want this new mystery cartoon project to feel like it’s copycatting a gimmick. No band!
Joe Barbera: Fuck…(Picks up and dials phone to the insert songs produces) So guys, do you want to work on a show with….talking hillbilly cats in a band?

Originally, this cartoon aired on tv before my time. But I did see it on "Cartoon Network's Toonapalooza" and it was okay, especially "Motor Mouse & Auto Cat" and "Around the World in 79 Days," which was based upon the motion picture.

Being a cat owner & cat lover..I *hafta* opine it was my fave Saturday AM series back in its day..
And the Swat Kats are a *tie* with the C.C.'s
By the way, I tried to pitch a one-off mini-series "Sawt Kats meet the Cattanooga Cats"..was considered in 1999..abandoned in 2001 after Bill Hanna's passing.
    Ennyroad, thanx, m8..

I once read a fanfic on a site called It's So Hanna-Barberaesque, about the Cattanooga Cats playing the Surf Ballroom, where Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens played what would turn out to be their final concert. It's part of a series called Postcards from Snagglepuss, and it's alluded to in one of the more recent stories in the series, although I haven't been able to find a direct link or even a shortcut to it yet. But I enjoyed reading it; it was a wonderful tribute to both worlds.

You can tell which HB characters were "in" and which "out" with management by tracking which ones showed up on "Yogi's Ark" several years later. Every HB animal character, plus a few humans, of any prominence were aboard the Ark, with certain exceptions...

I assume this was Hanna-Barbera's answer to "The Archies" (they were doing another music show called "The Mysteries Five" which was reformatted first as "Who's S-S-Scared?", then later "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?" thereby dropping the rock music element).

I mean, bubblegum pop was a thing during the late sixties and early seventies, especially in Saturday morning cartoons. In fact, "Sugar, Sugar", which was from The Archie Show, was the number one hit of 1969. And since this was during an era where psychedelia was a thing, what do you expect?
