The way they end this song on Völkerball, man, that fucking riff. They make so much more out of it than on the album. One of my favorite live performances from them ever.
Probably the most common interpretation is that someone makes his/her partner completely dependent on him/her and completely controls him/her. It is determined what clothes are bought and which acquaintances one may still meet. But it can also be about the restricted freedom of travel in the GDR, which the band members experienced firsthand. It also fits that the name of the band is hidden in the lyrics. "Alle Nägel stehen stramm -> All nails stand straight up wenn ich sie in dein Leibholz RAMM... -> when I ram them into your body wood ...STEIN um Stein -> STONE by stone
Pink Floyd the Wall is the song about the wall you build by self around you. Rammstein Stein um Stein is the song somebody else build the wall around you.
This song gives me such a dark deep emotional feeling for some reason especially this live version how he sings the emotion in his voice just makes the song so amazing and deep
My interpretation for what it's worth. The house that he's building isn't a house, it's the relationship itself. He'll gradually trap her in the relationship, abusing her emotionally, mentally, physically and financially while maintaining a facade of a wonderful situation to everyone else. She can scream, tell everyone about the abuse but nobody will believe her because he's been too clever. Nobody will hear her scream. As a song about perhaps coercive control and domestic abuse, Till is intimidating. He alternates between calm and soothing to complete rage, a common feature in abusive relationships. It's stunning and terrifying in its power and Till's masterful delivery. Volkerball is one of my favourite dvds from Rammstein. So many outstanding songs and the performance of all of the band members is immaculate.
Yeah like "outside there will be a garden" shows that on the outside it will look nice. After I left a very abusive relationship like 15 years ago I would just cry to this song. As weird as it sounds it really helped me in my processing of everything.
I feel that this is about his life growing up behind the Berlin Wall (the entire band was in East Germany)This would make sense why he couldn’t finish singing it one time.
if you look closely, Flake has different clothes. The first half is almost gone from the top, then the shirt is on it =) This is because, during the installation, footage from the city of Manchester in U.K. was added (translate)
They are an East German Band. The most obvious interpretation of the lyrics that I've heard is an analogy to the GDR regime imprisoning their own people.
I think so too .. Till says his feet are in cement and he has to beautify it himself, because the government builds stein für stein .. keepin people in and separated, 'poor' (not necessarily money) and ignorant. But .. Rammstein is also known for the multiple meanings of lyrics hehe .. whatever works for you is fine 😊
for me is a slow monologue about someone building a little house to entomb his victim alive , a possible interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Cask of Amontillado. The riff during the chorus resembles the riff after the second chorus in Rosenrot it was originally going to be the first single from Reise, Reise but was dropped in favour of “Mein Teil. Excellent song 💕
@@NORSEVIKING love Poe very much as well. You can never know with Rammstein, with their double meanings and the German vocabulary.. Till famously stated that it's more easier for him to write in his native language(of course it is) cause in any other language you can be lost into words... But as he is a bilingual (French ,Russian, English and Spanish) i wonder how does he balance all that knowledge in him.. Manifiique ♥️
I always related it to Poe and then I ended up in an abusive relationship, and "every stone will be a tear" just makes me think the wall built is metaphorical for an abusive partner "trapping" you.
What a handsome 'Stubentieger' ("parlor tiger" as we call cats sometimes in Germany). Cat people can't be bad people. He just sings about how he builds someone into a stonewall. Alive. Brick for Brick. And after he had done it, nobody would hear the person in the wall screaming. That is the text. Nothing deeper here ...
I feel like your pink Floyd interpretation is right in a way because it's a metaphorical wall that is closing someone off. But the difference is with pink floyd is was the wall that he built to close himself off from the world while this is him abusing someone and building their wall that closes them off from the world. If you have looked into much Rammstein translations they have a lot of songs from the abusers perspective (klavier, spiel mit mir, hallelujah, weisses fleish, mien teil, and im sure more but I feel like that's enough examples). But yeah this to me is another of their songs from the abusers perspective.

i like your interpretation ❤ never thought about that side. I probably hear too much true crime, in my interpretation he lets his wife or a woman disappear into a brick shed. he is building a home and she should be a part of it. she is standing with her naked feeds in mouistered cement with no clothes no shoes. i think, this could be the moment, were he sets the last brick, so no one can hear her screeming for help. then there comes, what a pounding what a hammering ... but die gedanken sind frei 😃 your mind is free
russian soldiers poured concrete over thousands of murdered Ukrainians in the occupied city of Mariupol. They cover their tracks. The surviving population still has no water. drinking water from puddles. They are forced to work in such construction for water and food

The way he sings this song live is amazing, they have the best live and official music videos .
He doesn't sing the chorus, it's playblack. He sings the verses though, it's very likely that his voice just couldn't handle to scream like that live.
The way they end this song on Völkerball, man, that fucking riff. They make so much more out of it than on the album. One of my favorite live performances from them ever.
Oh, and next song? How about Spiel Mit Mir from Live Aus Berlin? My favorite song of theirs. Pretty dark.
@@SardonicWrath going with Los right after, prob my fav part of the concert
This song kills it live, just love it. The performance, the power in Till's voice, the doubble bottoms of the lyrichs. Totally master class!

Definitely in the top 5 of my favourite Rammstein-Songs, heavily underrated
Pink Floyd the Wall is the song about the wall you build by self around you.
Rammstein Stein um Stein is the song somebody else build the wall around you.
I miss that song being played Live. By far one of their Best and mistet overlooked songs
Powerful RAMMSTEIN song and dark at the same time, Richard´s grazy guitar riff solo in combination with Flake´s keyboard part give me goosebumps !
This song gives me such a dark deep emotional feeling for some reason especially this live version how he sings the emotion in his voice just makes the song so amazing and deep
Favorite song by Rammstein.
Richards guitar solo is just another level of amazing ❤ screaming …

Oh, that's another interesting take on it. That's brutal. Thank you.

Eines meiner Lieblingslieder von Rammstein. Sie spielen es sehr selten - wahrscheinlich, weil sie es hier so beschissen spielen :D
