I think the screaming guitar solo in this is actually meant to represent the screaming victim in the story as they are walled away
I always thought it is a reference to an Edgar Allan Poe story "the cask of amontillado" Mixed with the idea of someone locking another person up physically or psicologically.
It's a great song
Probably one of their darkest songs. The outro on this version is insane.

Volkerball is such a surprisingly underrated concert film compared to their other two they dropped. Audio wise, Paris and In Amerika are such great live performances, yet Volkerball will forever hold a special place in my heart. Also I need to say that Till rarely screams when he sings, but thats what makes it the most effective when he does.
The guitar solo represents the woman's screaming. So you were right :)
the song was about their feeling about the Berlin wall. all 6 members of the band were born on the East side of Germany, trapped there when the wall was put up until it came down. by all accounts, life on that side of the wall was miserable compared to those on the other side
I came here to say this, thank you. You’ll notice that at the Volkerball performance he actually seems to lose it and Richard takes over with a guitar solo. Then Till delivers the final verse again and abruptly leaves.
Chels is all of us fangirls when Till does the little gaspy thing.
Guitar solo is using a DigiTech Whammy pedal set up a particular way so when you push the pedal down it raises the octave of the note significantly. The pitch shift setting on it is actually maxed out. That's how that scream is made. Same pedal that can be heard in the solo of such songs as "Killing In The Name Of" by Rage Against The Machine, or during "Zerstören" by Rammstein. Lots of other songs too, but can be not so extreme if the pitch shift is set lower for example. Plenty of tutorials of the pedal and examples on RUclips if you type in "DigiTech Whammy". He is bending the string, but only slightly. The high pitched scream is coming from the effects of that pedal. Every string pluck he pushes the pedal down which raises and spikes that really high octave.. I play this solo regularly with pedal. You can recreate it without the pedal but it sounds horrible without it in my opinion.
I am guitar player of 16 years and have studied Rammstein's entire catalogue of music with cover songs, etc, as they have been my inspiration from the get go when I first picked up a guitar at 16 years old.. at 19 I bought my dream guitar. Richard's first ever signature model ESP, the platinum silver version of the RZK 1 that I still have and heavily use to this very day..
Just couldn't help myself correcting that. My son picked it up too. He's a little 6 year old Rammstein maestro. He enjoys correcting Matt's occasionally incorrect pronounciations. He has a good giggle and you bring a smile and laugh to his face. I know it's not intentional, but thanks Matt. It's just the little things.. he also enjoyed correcting how the guitar effect is created and wanted me to let you know.. Haha.
Love all your Rammstein videos guys. Always have. They've gotten me through some seriously hard times over the past year and a bit losing my family and spending so much time in hospital especially last year with numerous blood clots and a very serious accident..

A message for Mat and Chels - this song is not about shaving, but about the demolition of the high concrete wall that divided Berlin /Ost and West/ in 1989... They demolished the wall and united Berlin again into one city - and the state of Germany-Deutschland, where it comes from RAMMSTEIN guys !!
Love Stein um Stein. In fact, I love the darker, heavier songs most of all. Till sounds so passionate throughout and the music is so heavy and foreboding. Richard's guitar screaming at the end send chills down your spine as you imagine the woman in the song screaming as she's bricked up either physically or metaphorically. For something a bit different from the band, try Halt or Mehr-both great songs. Greta reaction from you both as always. Love your reactions.
I live this performance. The raw power in this makes the song that much better.
Völkerball was awesome - watch the full concert if you can, paying particular attention to the version of "Stripped" they play on it (easily the best version of that song by far). I think there's a video of "Stripped" from Völkerball on DailyMotion
There’s a few cool double meanings. Like at the end of the second chorus just before the solo. Lindemann says “Wenn ich sie in dein Leibholz ramm” literally meaning “When I ramm them into your body wood”. He’s talking about driving nails into his victim’s body. The verse ends in “Ramm” and then immediately jumps to “Stein” being screamed only once instead of the regular “Stein Un Stein”.

That's the point. I've noticed that their instrumentals often convey an idea of the theme, in this case the screaming guitar represents the cries of the woman (I'm assuming it's a captive being held in a basement of a house).
I can assure you on hearing this live on this tour (in Scotland in my case) that screaming guitar solo is ear shattering 🤣 Blew away all those cobwebs, that's for sure!

I love your poetic approach and Till always plays with double meanings, but again like with "Mein Teil" it refers to real criminal case from that time, i remember a man was supected to have murdered his wife or daughter.. i think it was his wife, they couldn't find her until he broke and told them he had put them/her into the walls of his house. Where they/she were finally discovered. Sadly a similar case happended just last month in Krefeld, Germany.

So, Rammstein’s new album dropped and it’s awesome (as usual)!! Please check out Lügen. I don’t know why, but that one hit me the hardest from that entire album. Definitely a must to have the lyrics in front of you to get the full affect of the song. Anywho, keep doing what you’re doing guys!!

I think the key to the song is the story "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe. There the wife was walled in by her psychotic husband.

I dont want to sound like an asshole, but actually that guitar solo has whammypedal as an effect. With whammypedal, one can jump 2 octave with only pressing the pedal.
