I worked there for years. majority of folks (once they get over "I work in the pentagon" ... oi, we all do, calm down) have a pretty amazingly healthy sense of humor about it ... and the military ... and chain of command ... and (not kidding) the salad fork/cream-soup spoon issue.
the ability to balance required supplicant gestures (even by civilians working there) w/ a good dose of humor is one of the most life-affirming things I've experienced.
dunno if folks who /can't/ figure that out are self-culled (rft) or if working there makes almost everyone pretty damn funny ... but the workforce is amazingly centered.
When you're surrounded by military personnel every day. You have to have a sense of humor

Shocked and saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Secretary Carter.
Thanks to him we got to see a glimpse inside the Pentagon.
When Ash Carter told Seth that he wants him to stop his provocations, and in return, become a valued member of the international community, and Seth said "No" I swear he turned into John Mulaney for a split second.
Thanks, the inside look into the Pentagon was interesting. What a good sport everyone was. Thank you to ALL of you, and Military everywhere for your service.

Secretary of Defense is so cool
I laughed so hard at this, my stomach hurt - and then I burst into tears when Secretary of Defense Ash Carter introduced the genuine servicemen and women in Seth's audience, and spoke of what they do to keep us safe. My family came to the U.S. in 1839 and has served in every military conflict since then, including today - I know the love they have for keeping us safe, and the sacrifice they make to do so. Thank you, Seth, for this, it's both hilarious, and educational.
Ash Carter sounds like the name of a BackStreet Boy.

Another thing I love about Switzerland is that the meals on the planes are so classy, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking, the Alps covered in snow are majestic and my family has the same name as one of the European mountaintops!

If Trump recovers from pussygate, I will eat both of my monitors. There's no point even joking about what a President Trump would do, instead joking about what impossible events would need to happen for such to come to pass.
He'd get impeached and end up with a shorter presidency than William Henry Harrison. He can blame the NWO on that. I'd imagine he'd blame congress for any obstruction beforehand.
We all know when Trump's fall is codified, he's going to go nuclear. I wonder what Christie and Giuliani are going to do...Christie especially seeing how he's a sitting governor who has become kind of a punchline, even in his own party...

This gives me hope. A sense of humor is so important.
The SoD makes decisions that determine the safety of the nation. If he makes a mistake it could lead to hundreds or thousands of Americans dying in combat. He is not supposed to be frivolous like some child. The SoD is supposed to be deadly serious. It was disgraceful that they were making such stupid jokes at the desk of John Pershing. No respect for history, no respect for the magnitude of the job.
Say what you will about Trump, but at least Mattis is a true SoD. He is deadly serious, and every word out of his mouth shows deference for the troops he is commanding in the United State's wars. Mattis would never do some stupid, self-indulgent special with a comedian while US troops were dying in Afghanistan under his command. He has the air of a man who has had all of the frivolity crushed out of him by the terrible burden of war. He understands the purpose of the SoD, and the US military, is to destroy the enemies of the free world, and he is obviously committed to it.
