Ah, you mentioned a subject I have studied that is near and dear to my heart: wartime logistics. My hero in this field is from the WWll era, Brig. Gen. George C. Marshall, a man with an incredible life. In fact, he won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work. He was in charge of all supplies and equipment in both the European and Pacific theatres. Somehow, he was able to make miracles happen and get our troops what they needed on schedule. Trillions of tons of cargo of every variety had to get to our troops thousands of miles away. He had an interesting management style. When Marshall ran into problems with critical deliveries he would personally talk with anyone from a buck private to the President himself who had any knowledge at all about a subject probing, looking for solutions. A brilliant leader who also an inventor. I wish we had someone of his caliber that could be assisting with the complex coordination in efforts from the whole free world to supply Ukraine. But I'm sure if George was still with us he would find a way to keep things running smoothly.

@@billbellell9462 yes and no we had ample amounts of both men and material resources during Vietnam Afghanistan and Iraq those wars were unwinnable situations when political factors are involving themselves in the process infact there hasn't been war that was won by either infantry or logistics since world war 2 was fought every single conflict has ended in stalemates or was politically unpopular to continue fighting it and you can try and find one that has but if you look it's all the pen being mightier than the sword the only way to achieve success in gaining control of a system is through unrestricted political warfare and winning the hearts and minds of the target population by any means necessary be it by
manpower, material might, ideological indoctrination or all three applied at once infantry win battles logistics win campaigns and political subterfuge makes the war's appear winnable at all when there's no clear winner in a war both sides exhaust tremendous amounts of men and material resources often in vein for trivial pursuits that benefited no body but Banking families and financial brokerage firms and hedge funds

Yes, but most are not as prominent as Pershing, so we tend to remember what he said and not what they said. What I find interesting but sad is the Russians do not seem to understand this concept. Their logistics are at best terrible. In a few weeks or months Russian logistics may be eliminated as the Russians cannot seem to protect their logistic routes. Spending 20 years in the Navy taught me a lot about logistics and showed me their value. No US military unit ever deploys without suitable logistics as unit effectiveness depends on it. It is hard to fire a mortar without any ammunition. I see this as Russia's fatal flaw. The logistics for a submarine going out to sea is a massive undertaking. I cannot even imagine the logistics for a regional theater of war. I believe probably the best logistics were during the allied push into the European continent during WWII. The Big Red One ran trucks 24/7 from Normandy to the front lines. Now, that is logistics. The allies apparently did not suffer from Russia's logistical failings.@@davidlium9338

Not only that, but in application, if the Pentagon said it had sent 12 ---- it's actually "20" on the publicly verified media --- it usually means it had sent 25 or 35.
We know Norway, Italy, Germany, France, & Britain also have, combined, provided Ukraine over 26... and most of those from those nations are the track mounted with 12 rockets... so while they're a bit slower, they have twice the punch as the truck-mounted US provided of 6 missiles... so you're talking about 50 to 75 units of HIMARS/MLRS that have been operating in Ukraine for the last 12 months+, at least.
But it's the US military intel satellites feeding GPS coordinates to those HIMARS/MLRS that's making it so difficult for Russia to hide valuable assets and senior officers in the front line.
Having over 55 colonels and generals killed in a small "special military operation" is NOT a small thing, despite Trump's "genius" friend Comrade KGB Col. Putin's seemingly calmed public manner.
Norway, Denmak, and the Netherland likely will provide close to 60 F-16; and Sweden could do a 5-8 Gripen donations, too. Plus, any European nation that has F-16s that they want to retire, likely will jump on board, since giving them to good use in Ukraine will earn them tons of credits towards their application for the F-35s and one F-35 is worth at least 3 F-16s, due to the stealth jet's sophistication... so you're talking about between 75 to 100 F-16s jets arriving in Ukrain by late summer 2024...
Not enough to win the air war but those assets, plus the dozens of Patriot & comparable anti-aircraft/anti-missile systems across Ukraine mean NO RUSSIAN fighter jet or helicopter is going to freely fly headlong into Ukraine, by the summer of 2024...
Unlike Russia and its S-300/S-400 and its fighter jets, which seem to be operated by different people not in coordination --- with many jets of their own being shot down by the Russians themselves --- F-16s and the Patriots & other comparable radar and anti-missile systems are NATO weapons platforms, so they work seamlessly, once the Ukrainians have learned to use them...

Reality is Ukraine is getting out of reserves, they are forcing people to fight. Also Ukraine demanded some EU countries to deport back everyone who is combat available.
Most of their frontlines are colapsing, they don't have manpower, machinery, logisitcs are failing, everything is falling apart.
If they didn't have NATO support this would have been done long time ago.

The M270 was a joint development between the US, Germany, France and Britain with the first operational vehicle being delivered to the German Army. The vehicle itself is rather unimpressive, it is the rockets which rock. At first the US and Germany were building rockets for the different plattforms, sometimes in the mid-2000 Germany ceased production but recontinued to produce GLMRS in 2023 - actually Germany currently produces more GLMRS rockets than the US. Also they are much cheaper, instead of $135000 just €85000 but are doing pretty much the same.

Thanks for sharing that knowledge. Finally the fact that the 🇺🇸 and 🇩🇪 version are slightly different (hence the 🇩🇪 being called MARS, later upgraded to MARS II) makes sense, for some reason any multinational project either splits in two national ones, building on prior joint developments (like Abrams & Leopard 2) or they result in different versions of the system, like with the NH90.
I don't think this inability to agree on one common design is helpful, as could be seen with 🇩🇪 scrambling to have an 🇺🇸 company upgrade at least some of their MARS II for the M31 GPS-guided missile in time to send to 🇺🇦, as the Bundeswehr had neglected updates made with the 🇺🇸 HIMARS during that unfortunate decade of shrinking budgets and new requirements.
Primarily the requirements from the US to have partners with capabilities for asymmetric warfare like in Afghanistan.
At times 🇩🇪 had almost 10,000 soldiers stationed there, which the MoD only managed to finance by brilliant decisions like dismantling an independent Air Defense, selling those Gepards that 🇩🇪 (and recently the 🇺🇸) are now scrambling to buy back at 2-3 times the price they were sold for by 🇩🇪 15 years ago.

You know something I find very ironic is that even just a couple years ago maybe two or three years ago and for many years before that everybody talked about how the US was not prepared for Russia or China because we've been fighting a different type of war with the wars in Iraq in Afghanistan. But clearly our military thinkers and are extremely expensive military industrial complex which I don't trust have been planning for these types of things for a long time and come up with all kinds of wonder weapons that seem to be making it much safer for Ukrainian soldiers to fight and also giving them a force multiplier leverage that they wouldn't have otherwise. I have to say I'm impressed even though I didn't expect things to go this well for Western gear I'm glad that it does because maybe it will keep the world at peace for another 50 years hopefully. I know it's a strange concept and it is a concept that I didn't create but that by having superior weapons to your enemies especially if they're far superior might keep them at bay from attacking you or starting another war. It's the whole concept behind mutually assured destruction and nuclear weapons is that they will never have to be used because they keep these countries from fighting each other well we're in a crazy situation right now where Russia is fighting Ukraine but Ukraine is backed by not just the US but the entire West. So it does look like it could get very close to world war 3 but then again maybe Russia will finally give up I don't know why it hasn't yet but on top of that maybe China will realize it's not worth trying to take Taiwan and we can live in peace and continue to do business with each other and not keep messing with each other😊

Now due to Russia and china having world leaders that simply don’t see it as that, I highly doubt this is what our future will hold, although I certainly hope it turns out like you said. If China decides to get involved while we’re still mainly supplying Ukraine, as our economy crashes, I highly doubt we could keep up w/ China as well as trying to supply and defend Ukraine. NOT to mention the US trying to also defend against HAMAS. Also look no further then the United States very own President. Joe Biden! Completely incompetent to handle a full sentence or conversation, let alone be able to be in control of millions on American lives and nuclear bombs.

Morale was low, equipment was middle of the road at best/becoming outdated, and corruption and overspending was creeping in on all branches. So the government setout to create the next generation of their military in all 3 aspects. Management, equipment, and training. and desert storm was that test which it passed with flying colors. Well trained soldiers taught on philosophy of initiative and on-the-spot decision adapting, new or updated equipment like the F15 and Abrams, and a well coordinated network of generals.
