Ah, you mentioned a subject I have studied that is near and dear to my heart: wartime logistics. My hero in this field is from the WWll era, Brig. Gen. George C. Marshall, a man with an incredible life. In fact, he won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work. He was in charge of all supplies and equipment in both the European and Pacific theatres. Somehow, he was able to make miracles happen and get our troops what they needed on schedule. Trillions of tons of cargo of every variety had to get to our troops thousands of miles away. He had an interesting management style. When Marshall ran into problems with critical deliveries he would personally talk with anyone from a buck private to the President himself who had any knowledge at all about a subject probing, looking for solutions. A brilliant leader who also an inventor. I wish we had someone of his caliber that could be assisting with the complex coordination in efforts from the whole free world to supply Ukraine. But I'm sure if George was still with us he would find a way to keep things running smoothly.

@@billbellell9462 yes and no we had ample amounts of both men and material resources during Vietnam Afghanistan and Iraq those wars were unwinnable situations when political factors are involving themselves in the process infact there hasn't been war that was won by either infantry or logistics since world war 2 was fought every single conflict has ended in stalemates or was politically unpopular to continue fighting it and you can try and find one that has but if you look it's all the pen being mightier than the sword the only way to achieve success in gaining control of a system is through unrestricted political warfare and winning the hearts and minds of the target population by any means necessary be it by
manpower, material might, ideological indoctrination or all three applied at once infantry win battles logistics win campaigns and political subterfuge makes the war's appear winnable at all when there's no clear winner in a war both sides exhaust tremendous amounts of men and material resources often in vein for trivial pursuits that benefited no body but Banking families and financial brokerage firms and hedge funds

    • @billbellell9462
      @billbellell9462 Год назад +2

Yes, but most are not as prominent as Pershing, so we tend to remember what he said and not what they said. What I find interesting but sad is the Russians do not seem to understand this concept. Their logistics are at best terrible. In a few weeks or months Russian logistics may be eliminated as the Russians cannot seem to protect their logistic routes. Spending 20 years in the Navy taught me a lot about logistics and showed me their value. No US military unit ever deploys without suitable logistics as unit effectiveness depends on it. It is hard to fire a mortar without any ammunition. I see this as Russia's fatal flaw. The logistics for a submarine going out to sea is a massive undertaking. I cannot even imagine the logistics for a regional theater of war. I believe probably the best logistics were during the allied push into the European continent during WWII. The Big Red One ran trucks 24/7 from Normandy to the front lines. Now, that is logistics. The allies apparently did not suffer from Russia's logistical failings.@@davidlium9338

Not only that, but in application, if the Pentagon said it had sent 12 ---- it's actually "20" on the publicly verified media --- it usually means it had sent 25 or 35.
We know Norway, Italy, Germany, France, & Britain also have, combined, provided Ukraine over 26... and most of those from those nations are the track mounted with 12 rockets... so while they're a bit slower, they have twice the punch as the truck-mounted US provided of 6 missiles... so you're talking about 50 to 75 units of HIMARS/MLRS that have been operating in Ukraine for the last 12 months+, at least.
But it's the US military intel satellites feeding GPS coordinates to those HIMARS/MLRS that's making it so difficult for Russia to hide valuable assets and senior officers in the front line.
Having over 55 colonels and generals killed in a small "special military operation" is NOT a small thing, despite Trump's "genius" friend Comrade KGB Col. Putin's seemingly calmed public manner.
Norway, Denmak, and the Netherland likely will provide close to 60 F-16; and Sweden could do a 5-8 Gripen donations, too. Plus, any European nation that has F-16s that they want to retire, likely will jump on board, since giving them to good use in Ukraine will earn them tons of credits towards their application for the F-35s and one F-35 is worth at least 3 F-16s, due to the stealth jet's sophistication... so you're talking about between 75 to 100 F-16s jets arriving in Ukrain by late summer 2024...
Not enough to win the air war but those assets, plus the dozens of Patriot & comparable anti-aircraft/anti-missile systems across Ukraine mean NO RUSSIAN fighter jet or helicopter is going to freely fly headlong into Ukraine, by the summer of 2024...
Unlike Russia and its S-300/S-400 and its fighter jets, which seem to be operated by different people not in coordination --- with many jets of their own being shot down by the Russians themselves --- F-16s and the Patriots & other comparable radar and anti-missile systems are NATO weapons platforms, so they work seamlessly, once the Ukrainians have learned to use them...

@@kiabtoomlauj6249 what did you even write there. Seeing all of that, I could say that you're American ?
Reality is Ukraine is getting out of reserves, they are forcing people to fight. Also Ukraine demanded some EU countries to deport back everyone who is combat available.
Most of their frontlines are colapsing, they don't have manpower, machinery, logisitcs are failing, everything is falling apart.
If they didn't have NATO support this would have been done long time ago.
Also, Russian Tornado system has a higher reach than HiMars

Good on ya for a more proper use of the Latin word 'decimate', which originally was a punishment levied on Roman Legions that broke and ran in battle: 1 in 10 in the legion were killed, with the unlucky ones being executed by their messmates. It left a legion with enough troops to function. So decimate means "punished" but still functional.

For a carry round try the Underwood 90gn XTP +P. The box says 1200 fps but I average 1150 or so out of my Sig P365. These do wonderful in ballistic gel. There’s a guy with a channel called Tools and Targets. He does the best ammo testing and breaks it down into playlists buy caliber. My 365 loves this 380 ammo but, it’s not for the LCP.

Putin graduated from college in 1975 with a law degree. He immediately joined the KGB after graduating, serving as an intelligence officer at several international postings. He reached the rank of lieutenant colonel with the KGB (which used military ranks although an intelligence agency). Like all Soviet citizens, Putin served a short, compulsory tern in the Soviet military, but did not serve in combat.

Air defense is like air conditioning. My RV has it, but 3 days after the last gas station visit, it doesn't. I can sit in a traffic jam about 3 days on a full tank of gas and have air conditioning all day. Mind you, radar needs to run 24/7.
It's simply inevitable that when your column runs out of fuel, it is out of air defense shortly. Our troops can't do any better if you send them out without fuel supplies.

@@rolandxor179 The US also had RF detectors (essentially primitive radar) on those flak shells so they would detonate when close to enemy planes. If you want to know how well eyeballs and ears work, look at how well the Japanese AA worked against American planes. That is to say: not very. And that's against WWII planes, you think it'll be easier or harder to pull off the same thing with a modern jet moving at supersonic speeds and shooting from beyond visual range?
