    Sikaflex for windscreens. It cures under water too. I use it for sealing my fishtanks and gluing the filter to the glass when there's a deep clean due. The only problem is you have to cut it off because once dry you'll smash the glass before it gives up.

    the main power to the coil should only read ~9v as it will go through a ballast resistor in the loom, the idea of the lead from the starter solenoid is to give extra power at 12v during cranking to help provide a bigger spark, that is therefore the wrong cable you have put on the coil

    • @kentishman5698
      @kentishman5698 Месяц назад +1

      also check you have the right voltage coil. i think it should be 8volts (normal running) but has the full battery voltage when cranking.

  • @adrianlivesey4375

    Oh and never use carb cleaner or brake clean to get the engine running, both will strip oil off the cylinder walls, use a bit of premixed 2 stoke pre mix or just regular petrol into the carb

  • @jayreid1087
    @jayreid1087 Месяц назад +1

    You sometimes need to prime the pump to get a dry pump to start working

  • @Simcadepro
    @Simcadepro Месяц назад +1

    easiest way you could of done is file the carb bowl up as its enough for it to run for a minute or 2 also the if im not mistaken the mechanical pump works on gravity reason why the fuel line on the escort face down for the fuel to flow to the pump. plus a electric fuel pump would of worked well for these type of starts, i have a spare electric pump just incase the mechanical one fails

    awesome job mate Satisfying when all your hardworking pays off and you can hear her run , for the minute you could place the petrol cam on top of your inner wing then get petrol pipe without the filter on suck the pipe till you get petrol in your mouth 😂 and quickly connect it to your carb then you should be able to hear it longer without having to keep pouring it in maybe , have a fire extinguisher at hand just in case though , iam well chuffed for you marcus 👍🏻👍🏻

    Nice one mate! Try spraying carb cleaner down the inlet and outlet pipes to try and wet and soften the diaphragm… let it soak for a bit and re try mate it may help as pump will be dry as ! Also mate that main earth will need to paint scraped back on the inner wing 👍great to hear her run and blow flames if you saw that !?! 🤣🤣well done

    Like others have said try getting fuel fully down the pipe to the pump first I expect it needs to be primed, probably easier using the og tank with low outlet, suck/ thumb over pipe and connect quick perhaps? Before you shell out on a different one

    Maybe an electric fuel pump? It's ideal for a car that you are going to use from time to time to reduce cracking time.
    I have one for carburators, Hüco is the brand, dead silent and super reliable.

  • @jongmans38
    @jongmans38 Месяц назад +1

    Are you sure that the coil set up is not for a ballast resistor, they have a 7.5v coil which is feed 12v from solenoid when cranking for a better spark and when running it is fed through the ballast resistor to reduce the voltage to not burn out the coil.

    • @marcushayesford
      @marcushayesford  Месяц назад +3

      It's a 12 volt coil that John gave me when we rebuilt the cylinder head. I may need to find and bypass the balast wire, but at this stage I need to solve the fuel pump issue. When I measured the coil feed it showed 12 volts (as I showed in this video) so MAYBE the car doesn't have a balast wire??? I seem to remember with 'Esther' years ago that even with a balast wire that test will show 12v BUT when you test it with the engine running it will show 9 volts if it has a balast. 👍

    Hey Marcus i have to say your lucky as all Ford cars back 4 years or more have a bid issue with water coming in from vents behind back bumper costing over 500 pounds in repairs lol
    id think twice on a purchase of one unless it has been repaired. Its bad that Ford will not cover their bad mistake

      @marcushayesford  Месяц назад

      No the pump was sent to me by a subscriber. If I remember rightly he had it sitting around for years. I'll whip it out at some point soon and see if I can manually pump it so see if it pumps. I wonder if its not engaging with the bit inside the engine that makes it work??? But Im guessing that might not actually be possible seeing as it is fitted flush to the block ok. 👍

      @@marcushayesford I didn’t get a good look at the fuel pump. Are there bolts around the flange? It just sounds to me like a bad diaphragm. Dead easy to replace. Whatever it is, I hope it turns out a simple fix. If it’s sat too long. Things just dry/rot out inside.
