I don't watch Defunctland's content as much as I should, but the content I have watched from them is pretty great, so I'd be down for seeing them cover the New World's most interstellar abandoned theme park! I'm saying this unironically, by the way.
This song makes me feel sooo much! It's so upbeat and cheery but the main melody feels somewhat melancholic regardless, really perfect for an abandoned park, you can almost feel the happiness and joy experienced on these grounds during its hayday
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT! The instruments are so upbeat and happy sounding but yet the main tune just sounds so melancholically nostalgic, like the after tune of a happy memory (which basically explains wondaria)
I know exactly what you mean! It has the same upbeat and cheerful yet melancholic vibe as a similar song from the Elebits soundtrack, titled "To the Amusement Park". Definitely recommend giving it a listen when you can.
I can only imagine how much fun Wondaria used to be, I bet lots of people would pack this place up going on all the rides, enjoying buttery popcorn and watching performances at the circus. Now all of that is long gone
Thinking about it now, the Moonlight Capital leitmotif in there is probably supposed to represent how the overgrown nature has pretty much taken the park over whole.
@@averypatrick5279 I use to do that but I’m trying to savor it. Might finish it today lol got it yesterday. Nintendo barely disappoints in the music department
@@averypatrick5279 I had a similar issue with Star Allies, i've done the entire game (almost 100%) in 6-7 hours. So for this one I went really really slow, like no more than one level a day and so I just finished it yesterday !! I think I can say that I REALLY enjoyed this game and I think I'm gonna do the same thing to the next Kirby games
I love this song and this world but it's honestly just so hard for me to listen to. Imagine what this theme park would have been like before everything was lost, how much joy and fun there was everywhere, and now it's all abandoned. Reclaimed by nature, all quiet, some attractions still running and a few inhabiting it... but all the pure happiness that was once there is long gone now, and all that's left is hollow memory and melancholy.
I was thinking this games ost was gonna pull heavily from previous games, and I was looking forward to all the new mixes So far though, most of the music has been brand new (with some motifs or similar sounds from other songs) and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The happy/sad vibe of this song really really gets me, I've listened to it at least 30 times now. I'm so happy with all the new music
It’s da best song for happy days which we all wish to have on our days whenever the cough cough doesn’t exist anymore. If only 2020 or 2021 wasn’t so toxic 😒
might not be intentional. the composer for triple deluxe and robobot (who I assume also did forgotten land) has accidentally made parts of themes similar to others before, so who knows.
@@brinst_ar no, this game probably has the least amount of remixes and leitmotifs from previous game out of any modern kirby game. it's mostly original stuff. like, there's themes for returning characters of course, and there's the themes and leitmotifs that always return, but outside of that, all you really get is the HAL room and forgo zone. other than those two, it's all stuff that only vaguely resembles other themes, or stuff like this that sounds similar, but makes no sense in context. stuff like this is unlikely to be intentional, especially considering how few remixes and leitmotif this game has.
@@Pascll I’d argue Moonlight Capital is a deliberate addition here. I mean, there’s been many leitmotifs (deliberate or not) in previous games that have made way less thematic sense than the connections between moonlight capital and wondaria. While it’s true this game has the least throwbacks of any modern era Kirby game ost (no doubt because we’re literally in a new world), just because there are far less in this game doesn’t mean there can’t be any. Like, this jingle at 1:19 is an on-the-nose reference to moonlight capital’s most popular leitmotif, and it sounds nothing like the rest of the song. If this was intentional I’d say it’s the craziest coincidence yet. I can’t really explain it well because I don’t know much about music, but, when the horn instruments suddenly come in around 0:52, they sound like their purpose is to build up to the that jingle, and then slowly ease back into the loop for the rest of the song. So in that case it feels they really are drawing attention to that jingle - the moonlight capital one - deliberately, if that makes sense?
Wondaria remains was definitely one of, if not my favorite area in kirby atfl, it made me so happy like i was literally squealing with joy. Plus the last stage was so pretty, i loved the slow build up, walking down the hallway as the lightbulbs and electronics click and buzz to life- AHG its so good!!!! The music just accentuates all of it in the best possible way! Immaculate vibes istg. The marx motif in this song is a nice cherry on top =] Also the rollercoaster sections gave me chills, the slow climb of the cart as you suddenly fall down a slope and go in twists and turns, and the section where you go inside the glow in the dark area on the first stage djdhsbd YESSS- I need to play this game again lol
To all who come to this happy place, welcome! Wondaria is your... landria? Yeah, it doesn't quite roll off the tongue. But hey, the track itself is pretty great!
I am loving This game, the gameplay, the mechanics, the artwork, the soundtrack, an absolutely lovely masterpiece, it worth every penny I have spent in buying it.
I knew this song sounded like something from an older game and had to be a remix so I looked around and I think it's a remix of snowball scuffle from return to dreamland. It also has moonlight capital motif 1:20 in but that's not the main remix theme.
i can't stop coming back to this song. i don't know what it is about it, i can't get it out of my head, and it seems so nostalgic even though i hadn't heard it until a few days ago (yes, i know got the game super late 😑) edit: earlier today, i forgot the tune, only to find myself singing it moments later. i don't think this will ever fully leave my mind

Listening to this song while translating the alien text on the cutout:
"Wish You Were Here"
I can only imagine how much fun Wondaria used to be, I bet lots of people would pack this place up going on all the rides, enjoying buttery popcorn and watching performances at the circus.
Now all of that is long gone
Probably because of Clawroline going insane and scratching someone

I'd say the emptiness starts at 0:55
And around 1:36 feels like you are sure you will bring back the joy back to this world

I believe the term you're looking for is called retro futurism!
This really captures what Wondaria is, what it was like, and what it ended up as. Not many OST’s do that.
Happy tune, but the slightly "rusty" sound of the instrumentation makes it a bit sad, fitting being it takes place in an old abandoned theme park
This is just a really good song.
