RIAT 2023: BEST OF ARRIVALS & TAKE OFFS 4K (airshowvision)

- Very extensive coverage of Thursday's arrivals and validation day at the RIAT Airshow 2023 from RAF Fairford in England. Shot in high quality 4K UHD and fully edited to my usual standard.
There are dozens and dozens of aircraft on this video, ranging from light aircraft to the giant bombers and transport aircraft of the world's air forces, plus helicopters of all shapes and sizes, and of course the mighty front line fighter jets.
I have concentrated on the arrivals more than the validation displays, however the take-offs and some favourite moves are included here, with the Dassault Rafale very much playing a starring role with its' absolutely epic practise display - my favourite moves are included here.
Aircraft to look out for on this video are the Five F-35's from the UK, US and Dutch Air Forces, the Four AV8-B Harriers from the Italian and Spanish Air Forces, multiple Typhoons from Qatar, UK, Kuwait, Italy, and German Luftwaffe (one has a very special Israel themed colour scheme.)
Display clips include the Finnish F18 Hornet, the Swdish Gripen, the Italian AF M346 and EF2000 Typhoon, The Me262, the Spanish AV8-B Harriers, the Belgian F16, and the French Dassault Rafale C.
One very special Typhoon is the brand-new example from the Qatar Air Force with a stunning camo paint scheme.
The vintage segment includes a Polish AF Sukhoi SU22 Fitter, and the very special Messersmitt Me262 replica making probably it's first ever visit to a UK air show, and the take-off is included here, plus a couple of display clips!
Huge transport aircraft are coming and going throughout this video, including A400's (including a Belgian example), Hercules, and the giant C-17 from the UAE taking off.
AIr Forces assets featured on this video include RAF, USAF, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Belgian, Dutch, Romanian, Swedish, Finland, Czech, Poland, Canada, UAE, Qatar, and many more . . .
Despite the horrific weather at RIAT 2023, this day was not bad with only the occasional light shower and a fair bit of sun!
The Rafale blew me away!! 🤘😱😱
Amazing. The loop into the landing was superb!
I have loved it since I first saw it in 2009
What an absolute legendary aircraft.
Great footage of the RIAT arrivals & take offs! Thumbs up! 👍😊👍
Thank You - I give it my all every time. Once the video processing is complete in 2 hours the picture quality should be epic!
Awesome
Nice to see greetings from Germany))
Hello there!
Wow GripenE I love it ❤👍
How do you visually tell the difference between the C and E (apart from the current colour scheme)?
@@airshowvision Gripen E has bigger internal fuel tanks so at the wing roots youll see a bit of a bulge. Only saw a C in the video
@@AllericEnslin Thanks for that info - I couldn't see any obvious differences. Now I know what to look out for!
Rafale pilots' necks must have Lvl5000000000000000000 armour the Gs they must be pulling is insane
Thank God the French Air Force allow them to do it - although I understand they are now limited to +9G and -4G which is less than previously.
@@airshowvisionDid they decrease it after this or before it?
Ik
Went there yesterday, was a blast!
Grippen ? Ah ah ah
The Harier may be old by today's standards but as a 14 Yr old and even today almost 50 years later she is still a marvel.
Give me that as an airshow tool any day over the uncharismatic F-35.
Really good footage, thank you and sounds really good too 👍
Many thanks!
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
At present there are only nine original Me-262s left, all of them in museums, and only one is working (the one in the Flying Heritage Collection, in Everett, USA, which is in the process of being restored so that it can return to fly with its original Jumo 004 engines). In addition, two Avia S-92 (the Czechoslovakian version) are preserved in a museum in the Czech Republic. However, it is still possible to see some Me-262s fly, as the American company Texas Airplane Factory has built five replicas of the Me-262 in the last 20 years, and at least three of them are in airworthy, although not with Jumo 004 engines, but with General Electric CJ610 turbojets. One of those replicas is a Me 262B-1c (the W.Nr.501244, D-IMTT), which is owned by the Messerschmitt Foundation, created in 1969 by Willy Messerschmitt, the designer of the Me- 262 and the even more famous Bf-109. Hopefully the one in Everett, USA will be airworthy by 2028 (That is the goal) .
It would be great if the original could fly again, but maybe not wise to use the original engines as they are reportedly extremely unreliable - very brave men flew these jets in WWII
@@airshowvision Billionaire Paul Allen spared no expense in many of his restorations for his museum. The Jumo engines for his Me-262 were overhauled in California for short display flights, and with some new-manufactured material. His passing and closing of the museum had slowed down many interesting projects like the Me-262 and Stuka. Another wealthy investor has reopened the museum recently.
@@FiveCentsPlease Thanks for that great information.
@@2wheels2strokes4ever Here is Paul Allen's Me-262 making a few brake and taxi tests before his museum closed. ruclips.net/video/FPazuFQZE3o/видео.html There is no announcement from the new owners about resuming any work just yet. The Jumo engines do sound more like a military-rated turbine.
What a phenomenal sound! Thanks for the link to that video, too! @@FiveCentsPlease
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story
Thank You for your appreciation!
Awsome video 😊 i have never seen a J-10 display before! The backstory off the J-10 is pretty crazy also
Thank You for the appreciation.
Fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
AWESOME VIDEO, THANKS ! LIKE SEE IN PERSON.
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing Rafale😮
Excellent. Can you tell us the camera and sound equipment you use?
For this video the Sony AX54 and Sachtler Tripod
great
Thak You.
Nice to meet you at 4:30am on the main gate! 😂
Same here! Just got home - thank god that weekend is over LOL! Great to meet you and your family though
@@airshowvision my dad loved it and we will be back next year. I think we are going to do the Sunday and then Monday departures, as we missed out on seeing the F-4 Phantom fly. Take care.
@@MC-gf7nt I got the Phantom yesterday - it actually got a fault, came back and I think eventually left a second time after the RIAT enclosure closed.
Wonderful video work, however it would be nice to see some descriptions of what we are looking at.
Yes it would have been nice but there were just so so many graphics to make (hundreds maybe) which would have added several hours to the edit, and it needed to be released as quicky as possible. Perhaps next year I could make the graphics in advance?
Here here!
❤❤❤ 2:08 2:08 2:08
I had to endure the Typhoon and wait until 1:15:10 to see the Rafale performance but it was there. Thumb up.
😅😅😅😅 I thought I was the only one who really doesnt see what everyone else is seeing with typhoon. And why always with that ugly drop
tank?
@@sambonfield3188 i see three design flaws with the typhoon.
- low wings means small bombs
- canards are placed such a way,
you might loose the sight.
- the two air intake are too close one from each other. If one engine stalls, the air will block the intake for the 2nd engine. So it's the first "2 engine one air intake" plane.
I wouldn't be the guy flying it.
Hereś a uestion: If the limit of survivability is 9g and the typhoon is supposed to be limited to keep the pilot awake, why is the rafale so much more agile??? Why cant typhoon zip around like that???
❤
I'm also interested in being able to hear my text-to-speech screen reading software telling me the information with time stamps telling us what aircraft is when. Being totally blind since birth, I've always loved airplanes, so I love to get used to the sounds of each. It would mean so much if you could please do that. Thanks.
the WEEEP WEEEP from the F15 🤤
What version are those spanish harriers? Anyone know? They look a bit different to the UK GR7/9s
I think they just go under the AV8-B name
They use the designation EAV-8B Matador. They look different to the UK gr9 because they use the radome of the USMC Harriers that was never installed on RAF variants
@@jackhardy9409 ah thanks. I thought it was an fa2 sea harrier when i first saw the nose because of that
@@sambonfield3188 haha I wish! As far as I'm aware there aren't any flying sea Harriers, although there may be an FA.2 in the US
Where is that euro fighter from at @18:32
It is for Qatar Air Force - I think it is flown by Bae Systems pilots and is brand new as yet undelivered?
@airshowvision I dnt get out much lmao stuck over on us soil. But that's pretty awesome to see them utilizing the eurofighter!!! Thank you!
Two things I find amazing
1. the ME 262 was developed a mere 30 years after Bleriot flew the channel.
2. other countries still use the Harrier while we, who invented it, prematurely sold ours off the America for spares! Its what happens when Politicians make military decisions
The "David Cameron Disaster" I call it - what a failure his term was.
I wonder what engine's the 262 is useing now ? I dont see how it can still be useing the old jumo powerplants of the 40's ! Anybody know? Great to see it thanks !!
I think ITS from General Electric ....ITS a Replica
@@phillipbanes5484 At last .. someone who knows what they are talking about. It derived from the military J85 . You say say much more powerful , after many , many years of service and handling , I would say 75%-80% more reliable as well.
@@jamielee9350As the original Jumo engines were scrapped after only 25 running hours, I’d put modern reliability more like 99% more reliable.
This is fantastic! The audio quality is even better than another channel that does livestreams from several British airshows and more. Keep up the great work!
Thank You. I will bear your comments in mind for the future. Post-edited videos will always be better than livestreams as you can cut out the bits when nothing is happening.
Thank you so much. I'll keep this in mind.

Me 262 wow What a beautiful bird but also dangerous
Stunning sight - very dangerous yes but vunerable on final approach to land when speeds were reduced. Many picked off by Spitfires which had followed them home.
@airshowvision That Go fur ever airplane.
Me 262 @ 23:45
❤️❤️i liked place..and and air paln ..❤️❤️ thx for me sir.. show up❤️🙂👌and Italian air force. c17 favourite..
What was the jet hovering ? That was crazy
The Harrier "jump jet" - can take off and land vertically and even fly sideways and backwards!
@@airshowvisionthank you.. thats cool never seen or heard of that before, going to look em up for more vids.
@@smookie2351 There is a quite old video on my channel where you can see it take off and land vertically here - ruclips.net/video/3krWy1tqVkU/видео.html
@@airshowvision thanks just watched it and subscribed .
Nice vid mate, cheeky little sub from me 😎
Much appreciated
The ME-262 finally made its way to England after 80 years 😂
Yes finally!
it would be pretty cool if the me262 flew with a typhoon
It would be an incredible sight. Hopefully politics wont stop this from happening one day?
