  • Finally, I got some sessions without the rain to try out the new AxyzS frames, and MAN did I have a blast skating them!
    I can tell you that these frames have all the wheel bite protection you will ever need. Similarly, as the Oysi Medium frames, they let me learn the tricks without the fear.
    Thank you all for watching!

      Man, thanks a lot! These last sessions were really great. Especially the one with my son - we spent like 3 hours actively grinding. And then the rail-one felt great just because of that smoooothnes of the grinds. I hope weather will allow me to skate more :)

    Good review. I like that you observe wheelbite angles, that is very important. If i knew more about wheelbite, i would never buy Aeons as they offer very little wheelbite protection and they have very slow soulplates on copings.

    • @VandKoala
      @VandKoala  3 года назад +2

      Thanks man. Aeons are a bit slow, I agree. And they do get some wheelbite, but not that much, there are way worse flat frames for that. These frames and oysi mediums have better wheelbite protection than the aeons. I did an episode on aeons as well ruclips.net/video/P788ILWQJcI/видео.html and later I got some Dead wheels have a nice rounded profile and 58mm size. I put 92a in the outer positions and 95a in the middle and they kind of work not bad at all on my aeons. But as you say - if I have a choice I ride “faster-sliding” boots and better protected frames :)

      @@VandKoala I couldn't royale (on ledges) with aeons and original 61mm flat wheels, but now i have usd 55m wheels and it is all good :) Keep up the good work, there are so many older aggressive skaters that are starting to skate again after a long time, so it is very helpful to have this kind of youtube channels :)

      Hi mate, there was a lot of brain power and testing behind these frames obviously :) The only “new” thing for me is square shaped wheels as there are not that many rounded 55s on the market. But I had a blast riding the square ones. 60/55 gives a slight rocker

      Sure man! I have tried the “normal” solas as my wife owns a set, but I am not such a great rider to skate them :) I am getting tons of wheelbite on them :) Are the high-low ones any better?

    Oh man, I'm watching all your content. Keep it up.
    Also 35 young dad here. Was looking which skates to buy and i'm bit confused.
    Saw you didn't like shifts eventually (were to narrow?)
    You prefered thr USD 7th, and later Aeons.
    Lastly you switched from Antis to Oysi, Mediums and this one as last.
    Among all those for beginner who does want to grind more than roll, what can you recommend?
    Would be Aeons flat or this new frame, or the USd 7th and anti rocker? :)
    Also my feet a bit average towards narrow i guess... don't know if Aeons/Usds will fit.

    • @VandKoala
      @VandKoala  3 года назад +2

      Hey man, thanks.
      I started on shifts, but they were not too narrow, their front of the boot is too low. Me (and many other skaters) have had pressure point on the top of the foot. Honestly, not so many Razors’ pros ride shifts nowadays. Way more are on SLs.
      I tried Aeons and I think they are great skates still today. My main issue with them is slow soulplates. They stick to coping and slide slower than any other skate I have. Therefore I love them for bowl, transition riding, but not that much for the grinds.
      Later I found USD7 and these are the most comfortable skates I have ever tried. Great soulplate, only the looks of them are meh... :)
      Razors SL are my newest skates and they look better than the usd 7, they have the huge shock absorber that my knees are thanking me for, they have good soulplate and are pretty comfy as well. Today I have SLs with AxyzS frames and USD7 with antirocker and skate both. Aeons are waiting for the day when skateparks will open, but even then I will most likely take my SLs there instead :)
      What would I recommend for learning grinds - boot with a wider soulplate. Shifts, USD 7 (if you can find them as they are basically all gone), Aeons are probably some of the widests. SLs are still wide enough, a bit narrower though. I assume USD Sways would be similar.
      Then on the narrow side there are Roces m12, 909, Seba CJ, and a bunch of other skates I know nothing about :) wider soulplate will help you not only with soul tricks, but with the groove tricks as well.
      If you want to focus on grinds - go anti-rocker without a doubt. Light, cheap frames, very low H blocks, wheel-bite proof, can take a lot of beating. I love the Kaizer fluid 4, but find Featherlite 3 good as well. They all come with terrible stock grinding wheels that I recommend to replace with any urethane antirockers and you are good to go.
      If you try skating antirocker and do not like how they roll (I don’t) - go with AxyzS frames ir Oysi Medium frame. They are a bit expensive, but they are worth it in my opinion.
      I do not know if you will read all of this book that I have just wrote 😂😂😂

      @@VandKoala Thank you for promt and thorough reply. I have now m12s lo wih flt3 frames. I like them and my foot I guess on a more narrow side. But they become slightly uncomfortable and givr me few pressure points after 2 hours around my pinky toes plus the soul plate is the narrowest on the market and no shock absorber.
      I tried friends SL Navy, but they were on a bulkier side for me, and i had lots of room or something and didn't connect to them. 7th are same width and weight as Sls? You don't find threm bulky to ride after Aeons?
      Honestly was researching a bit on shifts only cause they should have same as SL shock absorber, good liner and wider i hoped soul and toe box but still slim.
      but i don't know anymore :)

      @@VandKoala I just starting skating, but I get along with skates... so I ordered the new Shifts size 46. My plan is to get the Oysi regular frame but use it with smaller wheels equivalent to the medium frame. Would you recommend me the medium oysi frame over the regular despite the size 46 boot ?
