THANK YOUU i dont know why you played with a rectoverb but im glad you did, im thinking of getting one of these mesa eqs for that amp. probably gonna get ones because of this
Mr. Ola, whose hands do those belong to? And good vid. I have been looking at different overdrives and this is a good one. One I was considering was the 5 eq throttle box. Do they sound similar?
Don't base this pedal from this video. Please try one, they are fantastic pedals. I have personally owned about every drive pedal under the sun. They are transparent and are a great boost for higher gain stuff. Extensively A B comparison with my maxon 808 made me sell the 808. No joke great pedal.
in the store I listened to the usual Flux Drive and Flux Five: I made a choice in favor of Flux Drive! it is more biting, crisp, less dirt in the gain. the task was to use as a boosted amp. Flux Five, on the other hand, introduced muddiness to pick strokes and grace notes, as well as a lot, a lot of dirt. Flux Five's EQ distorts the natural tone too much, making it acidic. So I bought a separate EQ FIVE BAND Mesa pedal and used it to tone it before Flux Drive = this is a great sound !!!
@@petepetrich7828 And I love it, but I recently bought BOSS SD1 waza and I liked it even more!)) He has a whipping tail with a bite, there are simply no such pedals.
Sounds like it has tons of useable tones. I like it. Yes, with all that flexibility you can make it sound horrible, if you like. Again, seems very useable to me.
for real... get an airis effects savage drive, turned my shitty flubbtastic rectifier into awesome searing metal greatness... rectifiers are known to be woofy flubby and fizz, but still a go to for metal tones, not gonna knock rectifers for metal but that pedal alone transformed its sound entirely, in my opinion it is the best addition for a metal player ever, after a noise gate of course, because nobody ever enjoys idiots who are too cheap to buy a noise gate for metal yet cranked the brand new 3000 dollar head to 11 and maxed the gain out for a bar venue! dont be that guy! for real though, hands down the killer of boost od pedals... both my self and the other guitarist in my band use them, we were maxon od808 users for long time. airis just kills it dude... and the guy makes them all hand built one at a time good quality product. check it, the most valuable knob on the pedal is the bite knob, it added a sharpness and clarity without cranking the treble and presence up its a worthwhile investment, i dont regret buying it one bit... link below if you want to check it out www.airiseffects.com/the-savage.html
totally agree. the isp theta kick ass. this sounds very average. Ola kicks major ass so it has to be the shitty pedal. it would be great to hear Ola do a demo of the Theta pedal
Why would he want to over drive the power amp? He put the over drive in front of of the pre amp to over drive the pre amp. If he puts it in FX return, it goes after the pre amp, that would sound even more like garbage.
nagol5178 Clean channel is adding its color to sound which change end result. But in traditional rock/other not so heavy music is common to use pedals into clean channel BECAUSE of that pedal + clean channel color.
This is a pretty bad showcase of this pedal; massive tone adjustments made on the fly like this are not what ANY Mesa Boogie product is about. Mesa Boogie are all about tone searching and finding your wanted tone, not twisting knobs on a whim and attempting to shove as many changes into 5 minutes as possible. A dedicated recording like your AMAZING Mark Five 25 video would have been much better. I'm pretty disappointed with this video, Ola. For the first time in my life! Edit: Check out some other videos of this pedal. I personally think it sounds very good for what it is.
It's just my personal opinion that advice is better served without value judgments. Mentioning what more you'd like to see in such videos is constructive advice. But mentioning that this video disappoints you is quite irrelevant.
This is untraditional... but what I do is use my Kustom kg100hfx amps drive, along with a VFE Focus and Maxon OD808 to create the sound that I want. It may not be the monster that the satan is, but it suites me.
Flux Five into a Fender Deluxe Reverb, Lo is all you need. Hi is overkill. But nice to have a range of options. Five band EQ really helps with perfecting the tone. Played at practice, playing lead guitar really cuts through. Before I would get lost in the mix, now it's what the doctor ordered.
That pedal blows. I like the 6505+ with a maxon 808 or metros overdrive with a tc g system. Nothing sounds better than lepou vst plugins with a catharsis impulse.
cool, so what exactly is reaper, and how many different software programs do you use for all your vst's and cab sims, have you found any guitar tones that are close to real tube amp sound, thanks.
Korneo54 All of those guitar world players and most demonstrators always play that same stock rock riff over and over. They have about 3 of them. They will be playing a super high gain amp and play a G chord and always end with a D chord and let that happy cowboy D chord ring out.
GUYSSSSS PLS STOP IT!
this is an OVERDRIVE pedal not a distortion one. Its good to compliment your already distorted channel of your amp
Kind of like a solid state mark. Sounds excellent with the rectoverb 25
A similar video with the Throttle Box EQ pedal would be nice!
jesus christ man finally a video where I can see if it can chug or not instead of playing bluesey shit lol
THANK YOUU i dont know why you played with a rectoverb but im glad you did, im thinking of getting one of these mesa eqs for that amp. probably gonna get ones because of this
why would you need a boogie pedal if you are playing through a boogie amp????
It's seems like a very flexible pedal . if you like Mesa tone the pedal should not be a problem.
Mr. Ola, whose hands do those belong to? And good vid. I have been looking at different overdrives and this is a good one. One I was considering was the 5 eq throttle box. Do they sound similar?

Is he running this through a clean channel with EQ off on the amp?
Remindes me of the DUAL!

Yep, the Flux Drive is killer! It does what you want it to do without really fucking your tone up. Very transparent.
@@petepetrich7828 You understood me wrong:
Flux Drive sounds great, and Flux Five (with 5 band EQ) is acidic and poisonous.
@@labyrinthzero3427 OK, I’m lost already. I use the Flux Drive and love it to death.

So far I haven't heard anything that comes close to the awesomeness of amt bulava or isp theta.
totally agree. the isp theta kick ass. this sounds very average. Ola kicks major ass so it has to be the shitty pedal. it would be great to hear Ola do a demo of the Theta pedal
Good Demo. I totally get what this pedal brings.
I'm ignoring the distortion thingy. I'm going for more of an Opeth, sort of tone which this unit does quite well.
i wish i could find a video of someone boosting this pedal with an overdrive like i would for an amp channel.
right
Why into clean preamp and not into fx return?
Why would he want to over drive the power amp? He put the over drive in front of of the pre amp to over drive the pre amp. If he puts it in FX return, it goes after the pre amp, that would sound even more like garbage.
nagol5178 no he would have use the pedal as a preamp, instead of the amp one, as he does with the amt pedals
nagol5178 Clean channel is adding its color to sound which change end result. But in traditional rock/other not so heavy music is common to use pedals into clean channel BECAUSE of that pedal + clean channel color.
It sounds decent imo, but it should be built in noise gate cuz lots of hiss regardless of the eq
Good video man nice sounding and overdrive pedal .
I'm wondering why Mesa doesn't release Graphic EQ pedals like these EQ in their Mark series and this pedal.
They did.
Mesa/Boogie Boogie Five-Band Graphic EQ
David OfAum Wow, didn't see that coming!

Give him a break dude... he cbf making a 20 minute video for one pedal..

can you do a demo of the new Empress Effects Heavy?
He did. Man that pedal has some gain!!!
link please? can't find it in his channel
Not feeling it
Randall should make a satan pedal with girth and grind for people who don't have 3k for an amp
or...other brands should add the same controls in their amps!
***** Patented bro
blackjackmcgack oh shit...!
***** UNNNLLEESSSS.... the actual names only were patented, then you could assign knobs to the specific gain controls
This is untraditional... but what I do is use my Kustom kg100hfx amps drive, along with a VFE Focus and Maxon OD808 to create the sound that I want. It may not be the monster that the satan is, but it suites me.
wtf with the guy who's eq the pedal in the second part! i mean... do you have any idea of guitar?
Mesa pedal into Mesa amps somehow seems redundant lol
Flux Five into a Fender Deluxe Reverb, Lo is all you need. Hi is overkill. But nice to have a range of options. Five band EQ really helps with perfecting the tone. Played at practice, playing lead guitar really cuts through. Before I would get lost in the mix, now it's what the doctor ordered.
2:07 holy cow that sounds bad
That is what scooping out the mids does to a tone.
fuck scooped mids. it's all bout boosted mids
Vuohen 666
AMEN!!!

how are u playing vsts and plugins thru ur guitar dude??

I plug into my Scarlett 2i4 and use reaper, then pick a vst and cab sim
cool, so what exactly is reaper, and how many different software programs do you use for all your vst's and cab sims, have you found any guitar tones that are close to real tube amp sound, thanks.
Reaper is just a DAW. Ezmix 2, amplitube, & positive grid software is good and they have many good tones to pick from.
Fuzzy and muddy...
Mesa, go home you're drunk !
Use this pedal with the cab clone to have one of the most horrible tone of the World !
oh god, now someone has to do it!
Please, please... Just... No
Korneo54 And paul from guitar world will do the demo with another 8 string.
I almost made myself throw up just now from that thought.
So thank you guitar World, the World will burn right now
Korneo54 All of those guitar world players and most demonstrators always play that same stock rock riff over and over. They have about 3 of them. They will be playing a super high gain amp and play a G chord and always end with a D chord and let that happy cowboy D chord ring out.
lol the first part sounded so rob chapman
Just no.
Until 2.55.
Not that impressed with the pedal... hmm
Hellyeah!!)
One of the worst sounding pedals I've heard. That cannot compete with a Maxon or Ibanez.
blackjackmcgack it's better to have both actually
klogg4 But if you had to choose...
I think it sounds fucking awful as a distortion pedal. But as an extra bit of overdrive, it sounds so much better.
Crap I need this
Stick to amp Mesa. Can't make a pedal that doesn't fuck tone
Yuck.
that thing sounds like shit.
Yes... like your mouth
This pedal sucks.
