This is pretty accurate demonstration of how this Guitar sounds. I have the g45 for 3 weeks now and this guitar is just a pleasure to play. It sounds different to all guitars I owned before. Also due to the bodyshape it’s very comfortable to play. Well played, Gibson ! And Ian, thanks for putting out great content.
I got my G45 studio yesterday in Manchester, UK. I'm delighted with it, its a real thing of beauty. Thanks for the video. Your playing really shows off it's lovely tone
I ordered the G-45 Studio 2,5 months ago, but today I finally got it. Man, I'm pleasantly surprised by the looks, the feel, the set-up (it played perfectly right out of the box. Imagine, that guitar has been build in the USA, they packed and shipped it to Germany where they sent it straight to me in The Netherlands and... yeah, I had to tune it up, but the action was perfect and so was the intonation!) and a great bonus was the beautiful case. I have a J-45 Standard that I've allways loved for its warmth and depth and smooth, round, sweet tone and playing that guitar alone is an amazing experience, but it allways tends to be lost in a band situation, unless I use my old Aphex Aural Exciter/Big Bottom pedal that only use when it needs to be loud. But I'm pretty sure my new G-45 Studio will cut through the mix easily. But also in a solo situation, just me and the guitar, man, I'm stunned! I LOVE the sound. And when I do what I love to do most, namely strumming some chords and singing along, I think I actually prefer the sound of the G-45 Studio!!! To think that I bought the G-45 Studio for 884 euros at the same store where they sell the J-45 Standard for 2199 euros...., that's just amazing. They do sound different. They sound very different, but I don't think one is better than the other. I don't know how Gibson did it, but they did it. And they did it brilliantly!!! And Ian, once again thank you for your earlier demo of the G-45 Studio. That video convinced me that it was worth the risk of ordering a guitar I never played before. And I couldn't be happier!!! THANKS!!!!
I've been watching every vid I can find on the G-45. I prefer to play short scale (24.75") exclusively, so there is no adjustment period switching from jazz box to acoustic. I have two great acoustics, Martin 000-18 retro and Taylor 322, and want to add a jumbo to my collection that caters to my short scale preference. Gibson appears to be the only company to offer this combination. I have zeroed in on the G-45 studio because I love the loud open sound, the beautiful simplicity, (and crazy affordable price). I was concerned about it being a little tinny and clacky in the higher strings, but your touch and expression shows an amazing tone awaits the player with a seasoned dedication to great tone. Thank you!
Receiving my G45 today! I must say that this is one of your better videos. I love this selection of playing! I haven't been this excited about a new guitar for a long time.
Wow! I just looked at your bio, and I can't believe you work at Acoustic Music in Guiford. I have good friends that live just down the road from the shop on Dunk Rock, and I have purchased several guitars from Stan Burg here in Albuquerque; he is deeply connected with Acoustic Music. Just watched this video for like the 3rd time. The capoed section is astronomical.
BTW, I would have liked to hear what you can do with the sonitone pick up. Demos of this are rare, the tones I have heard from it offend my ears, but I figure with your amazing tone attentiveness, we would experience its very best potential....I just want to encourage all reviewers to include a serious sampling of the pick ups a guitar features since so many of us require the convenience of the pick up at times.
@@jed1166 Thanks for the link, John, and for the sonitone demo, Ian. My 000-18 'vintage'(2018 issue) came with the same under saddle p.u., but the built in fishman preamp has modeling circuitry that really makes it pleasant to use. I am baffled as to why this technology hasn't become the standard for quality instruments since it seems like mass production would only raise the cost a hundred dollars or so. For me, the convenience of a factory installed pleasant sound, and of not having to fool with a stomp box modeling preamp or complex add-on solution, is worth so much more than the minute extra cost to get there. Bottom line on the Sonitone, if Ian can't get a tone out of it that I find pleasing, I know I certainly won't be able to, either. The only advantage of the Sonitone is that the hole is drilled for the output jack of whatever replacement I would choose to go with.
@erikkohl ... yes, agreed, if Ian can’t make it sound good.... One other plus besides having the endpin jack, is the external 9V battery access if installing an Anthem. A good tech should be able to use the existing battery box, so you wouldn’t have to use a pouch Velcroed to the inside of the guitar.
Nice job Ian. Thank you. I suspect you can make any guitar sound good, but I appreciate your assessment. I am looking hard at this model and very tempted.
Hi Pat, thats kind of you to say. I wouldn't go that far, but I have a lot of experience demoing guitars for shop customers so I have a set method that I try and stick to when I am testing out various instruments, for consistencies sake. The G45 is an excellent guitar, I have been very impressed with the 5 or so that have come through.
They do fly off the shelves. I believe Gibson is facing a huge backorder at the moment. I had to pre order mine and I've waited 2,5 months before I received it. I couldn't be happier though. It's a great guitar! :-)
Mario Driessen Yup. I was just on a pretty long vacation and I hit 4 different guitar centers in different states and none of them had either the G-45 Studio or Standard in stock.

Thank you for the video. Awesome sounding guitar. After watching this video... it made me go out and purchase the G45 Standard. Loving it!
Keep on playing that thing Ellison, it will sound better as time goes on.

No way! I walk down Dunk Rock daily, as I live in the neighborhood too.... Stan is a great friend and an all around awesome dude. Small world!
Thanks for doing these well produced videos. A very useful, no fuss insight into tone and build.
This new Gibson a very likeable guitar.
I appreciate it! Many more to come!

Ian has a demo of the sonitone here on RUclips... playing an Eastman E1DSS... just search “Sonitone”

Hi! Do you think Walnut's sound looks like Mahogany or Rosewood?
How does this compare to the J45 Standard in playability and neck feel. Do they feel similar playing?
Hi, is this best guitar than martin drs1 sapele in sound and construction?
Okay would you please now play a Taylor 214CE-K deluxe? Thank you!
If I can get one I will
Is this the Studio or the Standard?
Studio
At the current price point these guitars should fly off the shelves. Thumbs up on the vid.
thanks my friend

Very good sound for a guitar that is not all solid wood. I find the sound better than any laminate Taylor.
This guitar is all solid wood
@@taterjay
You are quite right. It's my mistake.
Walnut sounds like koa
Under 1000 euro the best quitar.
Fake wood is the problem
