Hi, I made 200g of this cream today, instead of Cocoa Butter I used Kokum Butter, turned out very creamy and I really like it and my 10yr old grandson likes it too and wants me to give some to his mom, thanks for your videos, blogs and encyclopedia they have taught me a lot
I made this cream today and it has the most amazing texture. I scaled it up to make approx 3 cups. I used oat infused water, apricot oil, 1/5 coconut oil, 4/5 cocoa butter and btsm 50 (half the amount) and the other ingredients were more or less the same. Then I added some goat milk powder and oat silk. Essential oils were: may chang, lemon verbena, patchouli, sandalwood and benzoin. Wonderful cream lotion. Thank you so much.
Hi, how did you adjust the formulation to include BTMS 50?
@@nathaliariv9838 i use half as much BTMS 50 as the recipe is asking for in terms of emulsifier and then the same amount of cetearyl alcohol as this recipe required. And it turned out very nicely. Like pavlova just before you bake it. A bit bouncy.
@@stanleyfox4201 lol a bit bouncy
At what point did you use the goat milk powder. Did you incorporate it into the water or oil phase?
@@ladylaurenia no, at the end when lotion is cool.
Thank you, simple and direct. I appreciate that.
I can't wait to try this!! Thank you for always sharing your wonderful creations! I absolutely LOVE your hair! Super fun!
Thank you so much!! ❤️
I’ve been making this for MONTHS! This is now my go-to recipe. I love this recipe! I’ve been making about 20 servings at a time so I always have plenty. THANK YOU!!!
You're a genius🎉thank you. Can't wait to try my body loves your cream recipes
Thank you so much for share this fabulous recipe! I will try to make it! I don’t feel comfortable making lotions yet ☹️ but this looks great ♥️👏🏻👏🏻
I love how this formulation is simple but i can tell this will be so amazing!! Love the use of oat oil and colloidal oatmeal and cocoa butter!
❤️ Such a fab trio! Thanks for watching 😄
Great as always, hope to see you in Kansas, I missed you all in Vancouver. As a skin expert and Pharmacist per trade, I know, how serious involvement is in skin formulation, and is indeed continuing education and on going experience, always, something new, very correct and always very careful in everything. I like that you are always, clean enough and very precise, that is a must for me and everyone in our industry. Thanks again and keep going, cheers!
great as always ❤
This sounds heavenly!! I can’t wait to make it!
❤️ thank you so much!
I love the original version you did (one I make often) I’m sure I will love this version too.
❤️ I look forward to hearing what you think!
This formula is amazing! I had to sub out the oat oil for avacado and fractionated coconut oil. I also had to swap out the emulsifier for emuslifying wax soft and silky from wholesale supplies plus. Its what i have available. 😅
All that aside, this really is wonderful
Hi Marie, I made this decadent cream 2 weeks back and it came out divine! Posting here after 2 weeks of using it! It's truly lush! I just loooved how the lavender essential oil nicely complements and masks the oats aroma! That was pure genius!!
Thank you sooo much for your engaging, fun and super useful tutorials! I am hooked!!! Wishing you all the best!!
Tried making this cream again (since yesterday try looked like a hot mess). It came out AMAZING this time!!!! First time I did not use blender. After mixing it today texture came out so wonderful! I did not have lavender oil, but instead used toasted praline scent and now it smells so comforting and gives it like a "milky" scent. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe ❤. For me it was definitely a learning process not to take any shortcuts in formulating...
Thank you Mary...easy and simple but beautiful😘🥰
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful formula - made yesterday. My skin is so smooth and powdery soft.
I'm so thrilled to hear it! Thanks for DIYing with me, and happy making ❤️
Thank you for sharing your recipe the feel nice have all the ingredients ❤
Hooray! Thanks for DIYing with me, and happy making :)
Hi Marie, i made 2 versions of this cream... one exactly with your recipe and oat oil while other i swapped the oat oil with olive oil... my fam and friends found the one with olive oil much better, i found the one with oat oil a bit heavier... i used extra virgin olive oil for the olive oil version and it feels beautifulon the skin... just thought of letting you know 😊.. thank you for the formula thats helping me in the lotion and cream making journey ❤
I just made this recipe and swoon, it is fantastico!! I used hemp seed oil and grape seed oil as I didn’t have any oat oil and used peppermint EO instead of lavender - it smells like mint chocolate ice cream! Yum It was my first time using Ecomulse. I appreciate the lovely, non soapy texture and feel. Thanks for all the great recipes. You are awesome 🤩
P.S. I’m always on the lookout for a Bobbi Brown Vitamin Face Base Moisturizer dupe. It is a great face cream but costs $67 for 1.7oz. If you ever make a dupe I’ll be first in line to try it. 😊
Thank you so much marie!! I love this lush cream and was bit disappointed with the old recipe u had because of the long list of ingredients (im a new formulator with a decent but limited pantry) ..this one new recipe i can make! .. PS the dream cream used to include calamine earlier before they moved to oat. Do you think we can replace the colloidal oats to calamine powder / lotion to try to get that old lush formulation (that one was so much more effective)
Will sure try this out. Thanks for sharing aMarie
You’re welcome 😊
Hello Marie. Hello from Hamilton, Canada. You are such a sweet, giving, lovely young ray of sunshine every single time I see your effusive videos. thanks a million for intriducing me to the world of DIY's I have made for self and close friends and they all love it. I love it. Ise the serums I made following the videos u made using aloe vera + HLA +Niacinamide and boy is it a super hit and works great
I am.so excited to try this, I've been experimenting with a body cream for my Male customers and this Amy be helpful to tailor what I've already come up with. Thank you so much ❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Very nice, I remember that lush dream cream, I would like to buy one of your creams.
Made this last night and it is just beautiful. I used sweet almond oil in place of oat oil.
Very lush ❤
Glad you liked it! Thanks for DIYing with me, and happy making :)
Magnific...congratulations
Thank you very much!
This formula is absolutely amazing!! I was wondering about my pH though. It's at 3.3. is this something I should be concerned about? Also, how often should I check pH ranges before it's considered safe to use a cream on my skin?
Hey humblebee ... How are you...??? I like your videos and love your formulas... I'll definitely give all of these try... I would like to add that I found your channel when I was searching for vitamin c formulation to make serum at home ... After that video I just subscribed your channel and visited your website and found that you, your channel, your website all of them are simply amazing .... And I have one request for you... Plz make a video on how to make sunscreen at home with simple formula as u always do.... I'll be very thankful to you...
Can this cream works for the hair if you switch the oils ?
Just want to let you know You are one of the most beautiful people on RUclips. A Sun of positivity and passion. Thank you for sharing your knowledge . I’m a fan and I bought your book.
You were so cute back in 2016!! I just watched the old video. You have come so far❤
It was the 10th video I ever published 🙈 I've learned A LOT (about formulation + making videos) since then 😄
I love your videos! Do you think there’s any way you can diy their curl power cream?
🥰OMG, i have juste made this formula , and changed the cetearyl alchol for butter beads ( juste because i didnt have any cetearyl alcool 😊)and this cream is just WOW i think it is the most best formula i have ever made , i love the scent of oats and suttle scent of lavender , cant say thank you enough this is my new body creme for summer , cant say thank you enought 🥰
Oh my gosh, I am so thrilled to hear it Danielle! ❤ Thanks so much for DIYing with me, and happy making :)
Hi Danielle, may I know “butter beads” is an ingredient specialized for cosmetic, or just normal butter?
Will you ever do one of Lush's face creams??? I would love to see you try one. This looks so wonderful and I am with you on less fragrance is sometimes better. Thank you so much for your knowledge and explanations!!!
OOoh, do you have one in mind? 🤔
@@HumblebeeAndMe how about celestial or Shanghai la. You are the best!! Plus what does self preserving mean?
Perfect! Just what I needed to make this week so will try this recipe. Looks fabulous. Much appreciated and my favourite Lavender too. 💜
Amazing! ❤. I used to love Lovely Jubblys by Lush, is there any possibility that you recreate it?
By chance, can you do a DIY for Jones Road Beauty Miracle Balm? You're the only one I trust !
I did an analysis + ingredient list break down with a starter formulation as a Patron exclusive video late last year ❤️ Learn more @ patreon.com/marierayma 😄
Can you make a recipe for the skin drink moisturizer?
Just discovered this channel and you are such a great teacher. Less is more for me, so I'll be trying this out vs the older formulation. Btw your hair looks fab today!
Thank you so much and welcome ❤️
Don't forget to check out my blog (humblebeeandme.com) as well-I've been blogging since 2011 while I’ve only been on RUclips since about 2016, so there are a lot more formulations on the blog. The blog is also where my totally free ingredient encyclopedia and FAQ live, and they're both packed with tons of super-helpful information ❤️ Happy making!
I made this, and I love it. I always quadruple the recipes. In this case, I found it not as thick as I wanted. Most likely due to being a quadrupled recipe. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you so much!
I suspect you'll notice it's thicker after a couple days :) Thanks for DIYing with me, and happy making :)
you'd think when doubling recipes or even cutting them in half, they'd turn out the same. But I've found this to be difficult in that many times it just doesn't work or look quite the same. I'm thinking in terms of cooking or even baking cupcakes, if you want 24 as opposed to 12 that the recipe would turn out the same. %99.9 it doesn't. most of the time it looks & feels completely different. but as Maries' stated wait a few days to see if the texture changes :)
This formula is concise and beautiful! Thank you~ P.S. oat oil has abundant unsaturated fatty acids, I recommend add some antioxidant to prevent deterioration
deterioration? of what exactly?
@@sherit8594 certain types of fatty acids tend to oxidize, as this contains a fair about of linoleic Acid, it will be prone to oxidation. Hence use some ROE or MT E would be advised.
Why did I watch this, now I must have oat oil. 😂 I’ve been trying to discipline myself to not go crazy with ingredients. 😩 This looks amazing, thanks for sharing. 💕
Can you make magnesium butter
Hello I loved the video and going to try it. I have a question when the butter melted you removed from heat at what temperature was that and do they both have to be at same temperature? Ty so much
Can I add kojic acid , alpha Arbutin powder,as well as raspberry powder and rose oil ? And what proportions do you need to add so that the creamy ,wet formula of the cream doesn’t change?
I use oat milk from real oatmeal. In my pet conditioner. . Ive accidentally grabbed theirs. It's beautifully soft and conditioned. . I've not shared it except my daughter. Her dogs hair is very soft. Skins conditioned.. we have Pomeranians and long coat shepherds
amazing recipe, can you tell me how long can I store it?
Hey love this formulation ! What can I add to this formula to help with the soaping thank you
As soon as I saw the immersion blender, I knew it was a Bamix. Which blade attachment did you use? The flat disc or the disc with holes ? Thank you for always sharing your expertise so willingly, Marie. It’s very greatly appreciated ❤
I'm using the disc with holes :) Thanks for watching!
Absolutely trying this but might sub the oat oil
❤️ Happy making!
I just made a small batch for myself. I swapped the oat oil for almond oil and used Olivem 1000 as emulsifier and it is a gorgeous cream! My preservative needs to be under 5,4 Ph. Do you test the ph for skin formulations?
What do you think about Prickly pear oil?
Would you be able to make lime bounty or charity pot?
Good
Could you use this for a face cream formulation?
Can you do a dupe for miracle balm from Jones Rhodes pretty please it’s expensive
Hi, I love you take on this lush cream. I will be trying the cream thank you.
Could you help me I feel really let down by Lush they’ve stopped making so many products one product called Ambrosia a shaving cream that helped me with my very sensitive skin and an other cream I like called Cosmetic lad.
Could you make similar ones that are as good please. I’m sure I’m not the only person who would like to make their own products. Best regards Shaun.
Nice formula Marie 😊 Cocoa butter is very nourishing but can also be comodegenic so may not suit acne prone skin. Still would be a nice soothing formula without cocoa butter ☺️
Hi Mark! The idea of "comedogenic" really is nowhere near as simple as religiously avoiding every ingredient that gets a "bad" rating; I feel pretty confident saying people with acne-prone skin do not need to worry about 7% cocoa butter in a formulation. Lab Muffin made a great video about it titled "Why Comedogenicity Ratings Are Kinda BS " (ruclips.net/video/-wz__FPq5kE/видео.html), and the title really says it all :) Happy making!
@@HumblebeeAndMe , agreed the comedogenic scales are outdated! Everybody's skin reacts differently to different things!
@@HumblebeeAndMe I agree, the tests were done on rabbits ears. But still it's high in stearic acid and oleic acid so it's possible it could clog pores, but you can only try it. Like you say at 7% it shouldn't be a problem
Can you please make this recipe with active ingredients
I would really like to try it but Is there any substitute for liquid germal plus such as geogard (benzylalcohol DHA) and what is a good substitute for ritumulse scg because in Serbia I could not find it. Kind regards :-)))
I am so impressed 👏 🙌 👌 please 🙏 send me all your. Ingredients ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Should we check the ph level anytime we're crafting a lotion?
How would you add Aloe and green tea extract ? does anyone know
What about prickly pear oil?
I’d love you to dupe the sol de Janeiro bum bum cream! The texture and scent are amazing!
I kind of did back in 2021: ruclips.net/video/OtqLEAjJ4Jg/видео.html. It's definitely more of a 'riff' than a dupe, but the scent is a match and that's my favourite part of that product 😍
Can you use Optiphen instead of the Germall Plus ? I have all the ingredients but the germall 😞
Does your patron include helping to formulate a formula or suggest ingredients?
Do you have one for charity pot?
Hi:) the result always leaves my skin with a residual feel of water, and I've made it several times-any idea why?
Thanks:)
I have never tried any lush products nor been in a BBW in over 20+ years, so lush wasn't even a thing then. How well does this recipe hold? Would it melt how well does it travel, ship?
I make things for personal use or family. When travel things are in bags and melting has been an issue for me and or being too stiff.
Does this turn out greasy or not so much? I tried making body butter and it came out pretty greasy
Hi, I would really appreciate your help. You are very good. Best regards Shaun.
Hi could you please reply as this really helped with shave burn on my neck. Best regards Shaun.
Great video. Will definitely try this. I dupe perfume and perfume oils, can dupes be sold?
I'm not a lawyer, but there are plenty of businesses that sell dupes-they are just very careful not to trade much (if at all) on the name of the original. Check out Dossier (dossier.co) for an example. Happy making!
Love this video Marie❤there is a question. The emulsifier part u said “1% emulsifier for 8g Fats”. I wonder how shall we evaluate the proportion of fats in this formula? Thanks❤
It’s 1% emulsifier for 8% fats. It always has to be the same unit of measurement
@@stancexpunks tks for advising. What confused me is, how to calculate the amount of fat in 1 formula? This one for example, shall I just calculate the qty of cetearyl acholol, or need to calculate coco butter and oat oil part as well( coz they’re component by different fats)?
I was getting agitated because I couldn’t find the subscribe button….. WHOOPS! I’m already subscribed🤦🏽♀️
Think your version is actually 'deluxe' with the oat oil swap-out, as Lush would be saving money by using olive oil - which is a lot cheaper. I think the £20 price tag on a standard size pot of DC is pretty high. Lush's reputation has declined a lot in the UK in recent years, with them attracting same shocking mail order reviews. I don't think they care about their customers anymore. But, as you've demonstrated, we can make our own!
Is oat oil the same as oat infused olive oil?
No; oat oil is made from oats, just like olive oil is made from olives :) Learn more about it in the free Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/)!
If we plan on using this every day and using it up within like 3-6 months do we really need preservatives?
Yes, you definitely do. If you were using it in 3-6 days you *might* be able to get away without a preservative, but this will absolutely turn into a disgusting mouldy mess well before the 3 month mark, and would probably be talking back by the 6 month mark 😬😅
How long does it last without adding Germall Plus preservative
Maybe three to five days? Think about leaving something like a homemade hollandaise sauce at room temperature and how long that would last.
Hi!! ❤❤ I noticed you've been formulating a lot with Ritamulse, question, do you prefer it over Glyceryl Stearate PEG 100 Stearate? I'm dying to know! 😊
+1. I want to know the reason too❤
😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
❤️
Made it and it turned out fabulous! Thanks Marie!
After all these years.
Speaking of essential oils, which ones do you find that you tend to keep in your pantry now that you are this far in your level of formulating? How often do you opt out of formulating with essential oils to choose a fragrance oil, hydrosol, or no scent instead?
A big gripe that I've had with DIY Formulation on the internet is how heavy it leans on essential oils. The herbalists of my pre-formulating interests taught me that EOs are basically under-regulated *refined drugs* that aren't used very functionally in commercial skincare, or worse are used with a heavy hand quite dangerously in the home setting, & it's a pattern consistent with most online content. I've trained my brain to completely skip over the EOs when I break down a formula or read ingredients lists (in my mind they're nothing more than theme embellishments, basically useless but pretty garnish that nobody eats), which is unfortunate since EOs can actually be quite functional. Online formulations are usually written like the authors never heard of IFRA, and indeed neither did I before I found your blog
I hope to hear more about your thoughts on the subject of what you find most helpful for your style of DIYing
