never knew a super charger could be fitted on a 3.8, now i'm on an adventure. may need some tips later on with this one !?
never heard of a Thunderbird SC? Came out in 1989 with a Supercharged and intercooled 3.8L V6.
I love your car I have a 98 3.8 mustang and I can't find any performance parts for it. I am mainly looking for a intake manifold. yes I am running efi with fuel injection
+Michael Tallent Super Six Motorsports is a great place to get v6 parts if you want to go big. This not a lot of aftermarket options for the manifold. You can either port and polish it or swap the heads and intake from a 99-04 split port car for a healthy increase in power.
Mustang Man where did you get the supercharger at?
I bought it off a parts group on facebook. It is just a stock supercharger from an 03-04 cobra so they are cheap and easy to get
Mustang Man they arnt that easy or i would of found one😂😂😂 i find prochargers but i didnt know a v8 supercharger would fit a v6
You are looking in the wrong places. These are up all the time. However for your motor you should be looking in a thunderbird supercoupe group for an m90 that came off one. It is almost a direct bolt on for your car. The only manifold you will find is a stock ported one unless you swap to 99-04 split port heads
Love the build, plan on doing a m112 swap in the next year or so. more videos would be great. love to see a pull!
+Bryce Hickman Check back in a day or two. I'll try to have one up.
@tsal Tsirf did you ever do the swap?
The paint job is suuuwwweeettt. Is that on stock internals?
+David Schmidt Yes. All that is done internally is ported lower intake. If you call that internal. Its currently on 15 psi of boost but it will be 10 in the near future.
Very cool! Look forward to future updates
I know this video is old. But I’m interested in your build and was thinking of doing this on my 3.8 2002. Are you still using this setup?
I have since changed the setup. Same motor, new boost setup. I dont really recommend it because its such a headache to run. You always have to be monitoring gauges carefully, does not fit under a hood. And there are just far better options. Its an unpopular opinion in the forums, but notice youll never see a good running car currently running it. If I were you I would look into a turbo. Youll get turn key power and more of it at that. Itll require some fabrication as with any setup including this one. But any decent shop can weld up some turbo pipes
@@mustangman3769 okay! Thank you!
@@maddiesamson8981 no problem

@@bkookmarkspxcial no you don’t. The m112 is not a good setup
Couple more questions: can you drive around without tuning the engine, meaning, it will not work as well, but it will not hurt engine anyway??And why did you put IAT sensor in a front, since there is a hole/ place for it in right rear?? Is it wire length reason?? And , I am just buying under drive pulley, what size you found out, is the best for about 10 lbs boost?? #4 under drive, and 3.0 inch in a supercharger pulley?? Thanks, still also want to know depth of plenum, from the bottom to upper edge??? And that's all, ...this time!!! Will build mine soon, and yes, will have oil cooler too =)
There is no hole for it in the rear. That hole on the back is where the egr valve goes on a cobra. You should NOT drive it anywhere but on a trailer if it is not tuned. It will run super lean and blow up. Other than idling, it needs a tune. The outlet for air on the blower is at the front so placing it there will give more accurate readings. Wire length is not a problem. I just extended harnesses as needed which include the iac and tps. For 10psi, you need the asp crank and the stock blower pulley from a lightning f150. or a metco pulley of similar size will work. Like i said. An oil cooler wont hurt but it is not needed
The Cobra and Lightning M112 units are notorious for the heat they make, they're nick named the Heaton. With no intercooler what are you doing about the heat the head unit makes at higher RPMs? Plus I just have to ask, why a V6 convertible? Of any new edge SN95 Mustang that's probably the heaviest and lowest power platform to start off with.
This was my first car. It started with not even a spoiler. Its one of my favorites as far as styling and ease of working on it. Originally the heat was fixed with meth injection. However, it is coming off very soon. The motor will be the same but I will now a have a side mount m90 with an air to air intercooler and will still spray meth. Should make alot more power on less boost. Ive built a few v8s as well but I'd honestly pick a 3.8 v6 over a 2v any day.
I have a 99 mustang with a 3.8 what is the best supercharger
@@kellspfg39 I’d recommend a turbo first but for what’s a available to buy without having to fabricate, procharger is the best option
What's the car look like now?
IAC relocation?
When you installed the supercharger, it didn't change anything in the engine to support the power of the supercharger
Im not sure what youre trying to say. If youre asking, I did not change any engine internals. Stock internals are good for up to 420-450hp before you need to change anything
@@mustangman3769 Did you just put the supercharger on and that was it? how much did the supercharger kit cost you
@@Russo429 I built the mount for the supercharger to mount to the engine. All together the setup cost about 1500$ to do but thats if you can fabricate.
@@mustangman3769 I loved your Mustang, I want to do something like that to mine, I have a 2000 v6 Mustang and there are no modified cars like yours here, I'm from Mexico
@@Russo429 Personally I would not recommend this kit. I ended up taking it off and going a different route (still a v6). For you I would recommend going with a single turbo kit. You would have to build it, but it would be the most straight forward option with the least amount of fabrication needed and less headache.
No intercooler?? Why not?/ There is space in front?? How do you keep it cool?? Do you have extra oilcooler?? Thanks , youtheman =)
How hard was it to put a super charger on the v6
It’s no different from any other car. Same as doing it on a V8. This was only more difficult because I built everything from scratch. I didn’t buy a kit to install
I have a 2003 mustang v6 and found a supercharger that will add up to 150hp to the stock hp what upgrades would you recommend to increase the strength of the engine so I can get the max amount of power out of the engine? if you can help than I appreciate it.
P.S. if this is a stupid idea than please don't bash me about it.
Aside from forged internals, the best simple add on to do is arp head studs. It is the best thing you can do short of building the motor
Mustang Man should I worry about the block itself or should it be fine
No a standard 3.8 block is good 800+ hp. The internals like rods and pistons however tend to break around 420hp and then need upgrading.
@@mustangman3769 how could I get closer to that marker of 400 some without a tear down and rebuild.
What type of supercharger kit and where did you get it
Says in great detail in the videos
Just bought a supercharger, for $380.00, happy about that deal ! Now, do you have a chart/ table about wheel sizes, if you want 10 psi, MAX?? mine has 3.0 inches on top, on supercharger, do I need 5.25 now for underpulley?? Would like to know, thanks!! Youtheman =)
Not sure on crank diameter. You need the asp pulley that I posted a link to. Look up the diameter of a stcok lightning blower pulley. Thats what you need up top
Yo can you like send me all the engine parts list that you got i need them for my 04 3.9l v6
nice stang man do you have a dyno video?
I can't figure out how to connect my boost gauge
Just T it into the line going to the fuel pressure sensor. Basically the same for any car
Are you gonna start the car or it doesn't run or what's up dude
The car runs. This setup has been removed and now I am using a new setup. Still a v6. Just has not been tuned for the new setup so not safe to drive yet. Just havent been in a hurry with covid and winter
How much horsepower you running now with the m112 ?
How much horsepower does your car make
Where did you relocate EGR actuator?? Since there is not enough space in rear?? Do you need it?? How about IA-unit, on a top?? Thanks
The egr valve never was in the rear. They are in the front on these cars. I did not have to relocate it
Delete the EGR. That is if your State allows for that. Mine is deleted.
How does your pully setup look like, i could not find anyone showing the setup anywhere, do you need a tensioner or a special mounting plate?
+Adrian Herrera I ran everything the same as stock. All I did was add the idler pulley by my alternator with a longer bolt. Aside from that, the wrap diagram looks like factory.
Hey man. So I'm getting the same fuel cut at half throttle. What all did you do to fix it?
thats entirely too open ended of a question for me to give you a worthwhile answer. I dont know whats done to your car, what parts are in etc.
So somebody is selling Metco underdrive ring/ gear, diameter 6.25 in ebay?? How much lbs/ boost that would add?? Is that too small in your opinion?? Thanks, youtheman=) And upper, supercharger pulley would be 3.10 or close to it??? Thanks
Do not buy it. That goes on the crank for a cobra. It will not fit a v6 crank. ASP is the ONLY option
Did you used stock crank pulley? What boost gave you that with what blower pulley size?
I started at 15psi. Stock blower+ASP crank pulley=6-7/ ASP+Lightning blower pulley=~10 / Stock crank+ stock blower=15. I later dropped it to 6
@@mustangman3769 stock crank pulley and a 3.65" blower pulley, what would you estimate for peak boost?
@@sr71Serene More than you should run. The problem isnt the boost level. The more boost you run, the higher your intake temps will be. 15 psi will reach around 250 degrees without meth injection
I dont really recommend this setup but if you did run it anyways I would not go over 10psi

@@mustangman3769 are you willing to sell the kit? The money could help you with the new project.
@@antoniobanderas6331 Sorry man, after running the kit, I do not endorse it. Though I plan to keep the plate for myself as a trophy to my hard work at the time. The blower itself among some other parts have been sold. Other parts are being used on the new kit
@@mustangman3769 so the m112 for the V6 isnt a good option? Your next video should be about that. What do you think about the m90 supercharger from the thunderbird For the V6.
@@antoniobanderas6331 I would say it can be done but its not the best option by far. Its a headache. Ironically the newsetup uses the thunderbird blower, though its nothing like the super coupe setup. Video to come
I've read you can get this in a V6 mustang Facebook page from another comment, is it a certain page specifically that sells it or I can go to any page and find a seller
Some used ones can be found on various v6 pages. However, the one that I mentioned is new from one licensed producer named jeff. He makes a badge once he get enough orders
Is your transmission stock and your engine. ? I'm working on mine doing this swap I have cam heads and stiegemeier m112
+Hugo Aguilera Nice! Currently the motor is on stock internals and stock auto trans. It has been holding up well but I will be lowering the boost to 10lbs because 15 lbs is past the point of efficiency for the blower so it was blowing hot air. I plan to make more power on lower boost. For this reason it is tuned down so it is safe for the engine.
have a stock v6 sn95 mustang. looking to do almost extactly what you have. saleen bumpers, supercharged v6, its an auto. I live in cookeville tn btw, have alot of questions. do you have instagram?
Hello! From where did you buy it supercharger? I need for a 3.8 l
No you dont. Pick a better setup. Go turbo
@@mustangman3769 dam something happened
How much power on 15 lbs?
i love the 232 badge, haha
were did you get the adapter plate I'm looking for plans to make my own
I made this one myself. There is only two placed that you can get a proper one without making it. Super Six Motorsports and on facebook from the only producer that is approved by the inventor of the kit
You need to bend injector railings a bit?? Or you have to change them?? Thanks=) and what injectors you have #39, or higher??
I know graveyard reply. Thunderbird fuel rail has the pressure gauge port with the return or whatever been a minute but that should work an best with new injectors to support the 112 fuel an tune, dont forget about that fuel pump. Yes its a computer an not a carb but you still need to provide that fuel Happy burn outs keep it safe around other drivers. Always write your build down theres diffent calles for cams, crankshafts an rear end to take into count. Do it right or dont do it.
I so forgot cause its been a minute, for stock hood / look i thinkthe k crossmember.. engine support has to me changed or motor mounts to sit lower, other wise i think you need the extra 2in hood. I like my sleepers through for them v8 bought boys

yes you can. Though I would not suggest it. There are better options
How did you get the adapter plate for the supercharger?
I fabricated it from scratch
@@mustangman3769 Hi can you give us instruction to fabricate the plate Ex:sizes
how do do it that. I have a 3.8 2004.
You need a special adapted plate
Why a V6? Not hating, just wondering.
I think Im kind of a purist. Ive worked on just about every motor offered for mustangs and this is one of my favorites. Its a simple and easy to work on platform with alot of potential. The engine block itself ironically can handle more than that of a gt. 2vs just never really did it for me. Not to say I dont love me a good old v8. Ive got an 08 gt as well but I just like the idea of building the original motor for this car. Only swap I would ever consider is an XR6, which is basically ford's version of a 2jz. Offered in the 2000s model falcons
@@mustangman3769 I'm doing a 3.7 v6 swap in mine
What was the main reason of removing the kit from your car?
It is a headache of a kit. Being that it is not intercooled, they are prone to heat soak. This means that the car will eventually heat up and start to lose power. And depending on the case it could even be dangerous. On 15 psi with meth injection and tuned really well, you could hope to make maybe 350 horsepower. That is not the limit of the motor and the motor can easily make more. But the blower kit itself is limited. This is not the kind of Kit you could take on a road course and beat on all day. This is the kind of Kit you would take to a drag strip and let cool down in between runs. I wanted to do something that functioned like a factory car. This is why I went to a different set up.
So you went turbo? Aiming for around 300HP to be safe on all, would the heat still be an issue driving the car around?
No. I used an M90 supercharger from a Thunderbird super Coupe and ran an air-to-air intercooler like a turbo kit. It even has a blow off valve. It is just about complete. This is a one-off kit which should make roughly 450 horsepower on 11 pounds
Do you have a new video with this setup? I assume you made a new adapter plate.
The new kit does not actually use an adapter plate. It mounts remotely on a bracket that is bolted where the AC compressor used to be.
Yes yes the adapter plenum
I would advise against it. This kit proved to be not all it was cracked up to be. Went another route with the setup
what did you have to do to get that supercharger to fit and work on the v6? I have a 2001 v6 and I wanna supercharge it with like the one you have here..not the little pro charger that looks like a turbo. any tips?
You need a special "box style" intake adapter to make it bolt up. If you search "mysteed m112 adapter" you will find alot of results. However, after doing it I would suggest the procharger over it. Youll make more power that way with less of a headache.
a Pro charger cost almost $5,000. How much did you spend on this?
I have 1250$ in this motor total
Mustang Man wow that's good for boost. It's usually really expensive. That's a good deal.
What lower intake did you use?
I made it
where did you get the supercharger
A parts group on facebook. Its the stock one from a cobra
Mustang Man you think you can send me the page or something I've been looking for a supercharger for my 98 v6
Joshua, for your motor this setup will not work. it's only for 99-04 models. In your case I would look up a thunderbird m90 supercharger conversion. It would save you alot of headache and is a direct factory bolt on. Many can be had for cheap.
Mustang Man by chance do you know where to get one and what to need ?
Yes. If you post in the mustang v6 group on facebook. A guy named Jeff makes them. He is usually quick to comment
Could you post a update?
will do
Where can I get that bracket from intake to blower ?
What bracket? The plenum?
Supersixmotorsports.com makes them.
I want one of these
hey were did u get ur parts at
Depends on the part. The plate was made by myself. The blower and injectors and maf were on a parts page on facebook. Most of it was new from autozone or random sites. List a part and I can tell you specifically.
Could you make me plate/ intake?? Made out of 1/2 inch aluminium?? Thanks=)
Could you share some knowlege on how your not running an intercooler?. Does it not run hot without it?. Or does it and can only drive for so long?
Air temps will only go up if you are in boost. It can get hot depending on what boost you run. Cruising around is 90ish degrees. On 15psi if I kept my foot into it, it could climb as high as 210*, but on 6 psi It would go over 130*. Its a combination of boost level and driving habits. But as soon as you take your foot out of it the temps creep right back down. That being said, that is the main reason I have switch the a new setup with and air to air setup
where or who did you get the kit?
I made the kit myself. You must piece it together yourself. There are writeups online for it though. The plate can be bought from Super Six Motorsports
+Mustang Man any lags problems with the charger after a while?
What do you mean? It doesnt lag like a turbo. Its pretty instant.
+Mustang Man like if you ran the car for an hour you wouldnt have any hp loss? i hear that you do since you dont have a cooler like a regular terminator
I see. When run with nothing else it can be prone to heat soak. Though this is only with high boost. On 8psi and such it is not so much an issue. Methanol injection is a very common fix for this though and can be used to replace an intercooler. That's what I currently am doing
ok thanks
+Michael Tallent No problem!
Do you have a template of the intake you made
Thanks man helps alot
where do you get the adapter plate
It is built from scratch by myself
Mustang Man nice job i was thinking of ordering the super six plate
I would advise against it. The kit is prone to many headaches. Its much easier to get a used TMA turbo kit or procharger
Mustang Man probably gna just slap a turbo in and call it good way cheaper
