Thank You So Much. I have The Chorus I keep it on all the time like Zakk all controls at 10 o clock just to thicken the guitar a little. Cheers from Windermere Lake District UK 🇬🇧 🏴
+Leon Todd For sure. I would love to demo the Super OD, the ZW 44, and MXR's other look alikes to hear what they changed. I know you can change some capacitor values on the MX193 and turn it into a Wylde OD.
I currently have the BOSS SD-1, the MXR Wylde Overdrive, and the MXR Berzerker Overdrive. I run a Les Paul and JCM 800 2204 and for me the BOSS is the closest to his recordings with Ozzy and P&G, and the MXR is the closest to his recordings with BLS. This shouldn't be a surprise since I believe those were the pedals he used for those recordings...but I could be wrong? To me they all have the same "gain", but the EQ curve is different. The MXR seems to have a more "flat" eq while the BOSS has a slight "hump". For RHYTHMS they both do well, but for LEADS, especially single note leads...the BOSS seems better. I think the flat eq of the MXR is its achilles heel during leads. Don't get me wrong, they are both GREAT pedals, and the difference is very small when you "listen"...but becomes more noticeable when you "play/feel"...if that makes sense?
Great review! This stuff is really crushing! Zakk is the best! And I have the rotovibe)) this pedal have a very specific sound, but it can sound really amazing, so sad that you didn't find it for this review T_T
Nice review of your Zakk pedals...I have the later o.d.pedal and chorus..regular crybaby and some others in my chain and loop..I think these pedals are awesome and kick some metal ass..Rock on everyone.
+Austin Agney Would you recommend even the non-signature rotovibe pedal for use outside of Zakk Wylde's material? I would love to find the real deal, but the regular model is a curiosity to me as well.
Plague Scythe Studios hey sorry for the late reply but yeah the rotovibe is a fantastic pedal and from what I can tell the non sig and signature are pretty much the same and it's just fun to have on the pedalboard
I've had both zakk overdrives I think the difference is the old one has a switch that is hard to get at that toggles between the zw version and the mxr gt overdrive.....also he made the knobs smaller cuz his big boots would move the dials,so he had them made for himself with fixed settings which would be a pain due to the fact that tube amps sound different from day to day and venue to venue and no ability to tweak the settings. And keep the Zakk phase as it was a limited run!
I know this is a Zakk Wylde pedal vid, but you said you use the ZW wah in your live rig? Would you ever consider a Wilson Freaker Wah? Its a clone of the Tycobrahe Parapedal, which is the Tony Iommi wah. It could be a sound you might enjoy
Berzeker overdrive was my first pedal, like it a lot used a lot on my solid state Marshall for gain liked a lot. Makes a great mild to hard crunch pedal or just a booster/ts type of pedal.
I have the chorus pedal on all the time in my band theCut. I also use the phase on most of the lead breaks. Thanks for the informative post on Zakk’s pedals 🤘
I have both overdrives as well, I found the original cream one was warmer and smoother, love that pedal. The Berserker is a little harsher for me. I keep both, but the cream one is the better of the two for me just because I love his Pride and Glory stuff it's much closer to that sound. The wah is bang on, I've gone through several other wah's and sold them shortly after. The Zakk wah will never leave my board lol. The Chorus pedal didn't work for me, I still use the MXR stereo chorus seems better and more flexible. I use my stuff through an Epiphone Zakk Wylde model with his signature EMGs wired for 18v instead of 9v. The amps are run through a ab/y switcher box and on the left side I have a Carvin X50B with 4x12 cab and a Marshall jcm800 4010 combo one right side. It's loud and very full sounding. Great video, wish I had come across it sooner, cheers!
Hei dude, just watched this video. Are you still looking for a rotovibe pedal? There is one here in the Netherlands (Europe), I can pass you the link if you are still interested.
What could you guys say about wylde overdrive comparing to xotic bb preamp? For me, these are both good. Does it makes sense to swap my xotic to wylde one?
The mg Marshall sounds good.....my mg15 FINALLY took a crap....think i might get a 50 watt....for bedroom levels...hard to beat for price.....my 6505/mesa gets me in trouble at times....
hi my name is Zach and I wanted to let you know I’m looking at Zakk Wylde guitar pedals and I did find a rotovibe pedal I wanted to let you know because I know you wanted one so I’m letting you know okay
Hi bro... what is your amp or cabinet?, what is your setup in the min 10:15 to 10:40? I wish this sound please bro help me... Greetings... sorry my bad English...
Does anyone know what settings Zakk actually uses on his Overdrives? Whenever you see "Rig Rundown" videos, he always has the knobs removed, so you can't see how he has them set. He always boasts that he turns ALL his knobs up to full, but I don't think that is the actual truth.
I believe the shot of the amp and guitar show what I used. Lots of bass and treble, all the gain, and Contour around or below 10 o clock gets close to Zakk's general sound
6550 tubes can be used in a lot of different amps. Very common thing for Marshall in the 80s. Gave Marshall a bad name for a bit. They had issues with tubes breaking when shipped overseas, US stores would pop in the 6550s because they were cheaper and generally didn’t rebias the amp. That said, my 2203 I added 6550s to sounds insane.
ok ill share a secret about Zack aka Ozzy's Randy Barbie doll, an insult to injury on. Randy and his family. Rich Jersey Kid, joins Ozzy base don looks, studies at guitar center to prepare for his gig, his own family money...a year and half prior to officially recording with Ozzy, who with producers- sound techs and Sharon told Zack what the deal was, that deal which was based on finding a guitarists to gimmick Randy Rhoads!, I was there, you dont have to take my word for it but after you read this you will feel allot better to know the truth, because anyone could of been Ozzy's guitar player, anyone could of been produced, given the gear strategy to get the live sound of RANDY RHOADS, an MXR Distortion plus into a plexi, beefed with a EQ, not just any MXR distortion plus, the ones with w. switch to asymmetric clipping, you see Zack was using the boss SD-1s until they told him it was also asymmetric, he never chose his pedals or amps, Ozzy and his crew did, dont get me wrong, Zack is an awesome person, player and all today, as he has moved a way from this horrible event after joining Ozzy and sucked into his drinking bench almost taking his life. I hope you got the point, there is no Zack MXR distortion pedal, its Randy's own work, his own custom distortion plus with diodes his tech installed by hand, the switch later became a standard in those older mXR but Randy died tragically in a plane that Don Airy sole responsible for lying to him and their hair dresser to get on with this pilot who flew it once and was not sure it was even fit for flying, no inspection for over a year, grounded due to issues, but Don wanted his photos, photos he has been hiding for many years to avoid been. sued by Randy's family and in prison for involuntary MURDER!, Ozzy is a good person, he has no clue about all this but I and Don's son did after it happened., if. Ozzy knew he would hang Don on stage before his fans. Anyway., im not dissing Zack, I love him, today he is the best there is, finally free from the whole Randy Rhoads ghost, became a great player, I won't say 100% original but he has the right t0 play sabbath, Ozzy songs, his suck @55 if you ask me, I know a few players around the time he joined Ozzy, some are still about and much better..but I hope you get my point, none of these pedals or music that got Zack famous was his., I spoke to Zack about this, he knows who I am, he panicked and I know its hard, he admitted it was hard for him to speak about it, he has learned to topple other guitarists because of his insecure ego, all it takes is two guys who knew him before he joined Ozzy, younger then him....he would run the other way, Joe Holmes was one of them, wait to you guys hear the other, I h ope it works out. for Zack. and everyone now that Ozzy is getting there...regardless its been. one wild journey after plexi masters Randy died.
+MrHermango How else would you describe it? In the same way that warmth translates to "tube clarity with lots of low mids" almost 100% of the time, I meant creamy as "thick, saturated gain." People wouldn't use those nonsense adjectives if it didn't work
Creamy and warmth are perfect adjectives to describe a sound which has clarity, balanced dinamics and eq, and an overall full timbre...it's a language expression used in many different context. So not really sure what you on about...
Zakk is pretty much the epitome of “I love his tone, even if I wouldn’t do it that way”.
Wrong try again
Thank You So Much. I have The Chorus I keep it on all the time like Zakk all controls at 10 o clock just to thicken the guitar a little. Cheers from Windermere Lake District UK 🇬🇧 🏴
Me: just started to learn guitar last week
Also me: I want to buy all Zakk's pedal anyways
Welcome to the family! Keep riffing.
Right on
The SD-1 is a monster pedal, the Wylde drive sounds like a more refined version of that circuit.
+Leon Todd For sure. I would love to demo the Super OD, the ZW 44, and MXR's other look alikes to hear what they changed. I know you can change some capacitor values on the MX193 and turn it into a Wylde OD.

I just got the wylde wah and his marshall mini stack for my birthday. awesome video!
Hey thx for the rundown im just learning . U explained the gear easy for a rookie
I just bought the Wylde overdrive, the old one, thanks dude, saludos de Uruguay!
+Fernando Larrosa No problem, hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
Awesome review man! Love that Overdrive!
+Esteban Gutierrez Thank you, they are great pedals!
Great review! This stuff is really crushing! Zakk is the best! And I have the rotovibe)) this pedal have a very specific sound, but it can sound really amazing, so sad that you didn't find it for this review T_T
+Comrade Ivan Glad you liked the video! Seriously, if you ever see one for sale please send me a link. They just don't exist anymore lol
Nice review of your Zakk pedals...I have the later o.d.pedal and chorus..regular crybaby and some others in my chain and loop..I think these pedals are awesome and kick some metal ass..Rock on everyone.
+Greg Hall Thanks for watching! \m/
Very thick sound with the overdrives. I like it.
I own the rotovibe, wylde overdrive, chorus and phaser. All great pedals in my opinion. Built solid and sound great.
+Austin Agney Would you recommend even the non-signature rotovibe pedal for use outside of Zakk Wylde's material? I would love to find the real deal, but the regular model is a curiosity to me as well.

+H and C Im not getting rid of any of these pedals, still keeping an eye out for the Roto Vibe!
Oh my god! Finally a review on these pedals that I wanted. Played how I wanted them to be heard and good information on how they sound. Thank you!
+Cleon Clink6 Awesome, so glad this was useful to you!
I just pulled the trigger on a Chorus... gotta have it, it is now discontinued
Really started to like your channel, your videos are awesome! Any chance you could review some KHDK or Engl pedals?
Awesome video man, I can’t find the Black Label Chorus anywhere. Awesome sounding pedal.
MXR ZW-38 Black Label Chorus applink.reverb.com/item/14536200-mxr-zw-38-black-label-chorus?_aid=pla
Hey mate, I found a Wylde rotovibe on Amazon. Bought it about 6 months ago.
Awesome Review! Thank you! Own the Overdrive and Wah,..Chorus Next!
+Rob Gaggero Appreciate it! Look around online and you should be able to find one for under $75.
Very solid review my man. Very honest and informative
I appreciate you explaining all the pedals. Keep doing what you do 🤘
Berzeker overdrive was my first pedal, like it a lot used a lot on my solid state Marshall for gain liked a lot. Makes a great mild to hard crunch pedal or just a booster/ts type of pedal.

Great video. Very informative and to the point.
I have a Dimebag and Wylde Wah. Use Zakks way more. Just an amazing tone 🎸✌🏽👌🏽
Hei dude, just watched this video. Are you still looking for a rotovibe pedal? There is one here in the Netherlands (Europe), I can pass you the link if you are still interested.
the OG ZW44 is awesome in front of a recto. output set to 12o'clock, gain 9 o'clock and tone 10.30/11 o'clock.
Would you recommend the Zakk Wylde wah or the Dimebag wag?
The Dime Wah is more interesting because it has some knobs and a booster, Zakk Wah is just a classic Crybaby with some extra bass
The dime wah is more versatile and have more options to get the sound that your looking for.
He uses the chorus in the loop now
Check guitar center and reverb for the rotovibe. I got the jd4s used killer pedal
I've looked about once a week for the past year, still no luck on the signature rotovibe. The regular model is fairly common.
I have the original roto vibe. I still love the sound.
Zack Wylde on how to get his tone, regarding amplifiers: "If it says Marshall, you're good.."
Great review dude.
What could you guys say about wylde overdrive comparing to xotic bb preamp? For me, these are both good. Does it makes sense to swap my xotic to wylde one?

An attenuator or load box with - 20 dB output is what you need. I have a video on them.
There is a Zakk wylde rotovibe on reverb now. If you want to pay $900 crazy.
I have the entire set with rotovibe + the zakk wylde signed pedal board he used in 2012.
Good Video and information :)
hi my name is Zach and I wanted to let you know I’m looking at Zakk Wylde guitar pedals and I did find a rotovibe pedal I wanted to let you know because I know you wanted one so I’m letting you know okay

See the first minute of the video.
Great video! Would you be interested in buying a ZW-44 Custom Shop pedal?
+Kevin Moeder I guess that would depend on the definition of custom shop in this case. Feel free to email me with more information.
Plague Scythe Studios will do...let me take a few pics to send you.
Can’t seem to find your email address?
+Kevin Moeder Should be under the about section, but it may not show up on mobile. plaguescythestudios@gmail.com

+Dave Lanciani If you search for the manual that comes with the Berzerker, you will find a few of Zakk's recommended settings.
he just sets it on blast
So what was Zackks signal chain and what is in front and what’s in the loop? (Sorry kinda new to this)
Great video man, I have the same dfx amp. What were the settings because I can’t seem to make it work with some overdrive pedals?
I believe the shot of the amp and guitar show what I used. Lots of bass and treble, all the gain, and Contour around or below 10 o clock gets close to Zakk's general sound
Hi is the Wylde Phase 90 similar to the standard Phase 90 ? Are you using the Phaser alone or with the Overdrive? Thanks
Great job!
Could you please explain the 65/50 power tubes. Do they only work in an 800 amp.
Rotovibes are super fun.
If u want to sound like zakk wylde. Learn ur pentatonic scales and pinch harmonics. The guy does soo much with soo little. LEGENDARY
thanks, very clear
Que ecualización usas en el equipo?muy buen video 💪💪💪💪💪💪
Dude, you're pretty good.
Guthrie gova reviewing zakk's gear
Cheerz & Beerz from Oz...................S.D.M.F

He does know how to use a wah doesn't he?...suffering overdue for example
5 years later.. there is a wylde rotovibe on reverb...... $800 hahahaha

Im a fanboy and sold my EVH phase 90 for Zakk’s. Big mistake
You really look like skinny version of zakk wylde
"Creamy" he said "creamy', that's right up there with 'warmth', as a nonsense adjective to described guitar tone...
